Was working earlier this week with one of the partners, where I work and we stopped at this place and I found out they had slices of pizza... I got one and it was hands down, the best pizza I had had since I moved to St Petersburg... so I decided to head back for a second round and a second opinion with one of my friends and my pup. We arrived and were greeted to the outside area, they immediately brought my pup some water with ice cubes.:: and got us our drinks... we ordered a pear Gorgonzola salad and a large NJ Hand tossed cheese pizza. It's a thinner style crust, super perfect crunch and I absolutely love their pizza sauce. Nothing overkill, just right. After two visits, I am now certain that I will go 15 minutes, out of my way, to get their pizza. Stopped at this place because we heard they have a new owner so we wanted to check it out. Service a little slow but bartenders are very friendly so once they wait on you they take care of you. Food was very good! Only reason they're not getting a five is because I believe their prices are a little high for what you get. Draft beers $6 domestic. I ordered the meatball sub. The bartender suggested I get extra sauce but it's an extra $2. I opted not to because $16 for a meatball sub is the most I would ever spend. Then add another $2 that's $18 for a meatball sub really? I will say the bread was nice and crusty and lots of mozzarella cheese and the meatballs were exceptional so I guess you get what you pay for. My hubby got the burger with an egg, bacon, cheese $18 but he said it was delicious. Total bill without tip $51. Two beer, two sandwiches. Recently, we decided to go in to see Adrienne (bartender we've known for a long time) and to try a new place for us. It was a great decision. My guy was happy with the extensive selection of craft beers. I started with a margarita, which was delicious. It was a hard decision. We decided to try a slice of the hand tossed New Jersey style pizza with pepperoni and sausage, which came out quickly. The pizza was absolutely 100% delicious (in addition to a plethora of toppings, there is a ricotta cheese blend that can be swapped for the red sauce) [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is a great history about this building. It was constructed during the Roaring 20s. I finally found it - I found the best pizza in Florida!! Being from the Northeast, we are spoiled with fantastic pizza and we haven't been able to find anything in Florida that compares, until now! My husband and I came here to grab a drink while on vacation. We had no intention of eating. The guy next to us got a pizza. We both commented on how good it looked and smelled. The guy told us the owner imports water from New York to make this pizza. We were instantly sold! We ordered a half cheese, half pepperoni pizza. The flavor and texture of the dough is definitely reminiscent of a northeast pizza! We ate the whole thing. My husband raved about it. We ate here for the first time on Sunday and had a thin crust pizza and a burger. Both were really subpar. The pizza was terrible, and the crust was made out of an unknown substance. The burger was overcooked and had no taste at all because there were virtually no spices used. Our server was great, but the service was very slow and the prices are high. Love, love, love! A great place for us locals to get away from the beach for a relaxing meal in a historic tavern which will turn 100yrs old next year. There is outdoor and indoor seating, outside has a fountain and a view of stunning old live oak trees. Inside it is the perfect comfort I expect from a real tavern. They have board games, puzzles, and even a piano anyone can play. The food is perfect every visit. The pizza is phenomenal! They even have half a Cuban sliced into sticks for an appetizer; great idea! The drink selection is perfect with anything most would desire. I asked her to leave check and change on table and we can see, she took it away and acted pissed off. Her comments were "kinda low for my tip." Still a little confused that a premium bottled beer was $5. and a draft beer $9 each. Sadly a nice place with shitty service has lost another customer . Arrived to a very dark and dreary inside restaurant to meet some friends. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Menus arrived and we literally had to use our flashlights on our cameras to see the menu.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outside area is probably better if the weather cooperates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was all set to order a Northeast seafood salad because I had checked the menu on their website prior as I am on a very restricted dietary protocol at the moment. Well, apparently the website menu is not up to date because they no longer have it. Now I knew I was going to be in trouble. I found the Mediterranean salad on the menu and removed the items I could not have (left with romaine lettuce and chickpeas) and asked the waitress if they could add some other veggies or more romaine and chickpeas. She told me they typically cannot do this but she would see what she could do. My order came and it was a small piece of romaine heart (still attached... maybe 4-6 tiny leaves and a sprinkle (maybe 1/4 cup) of chickpeas...about $2-3 worth of food and no chef preparation required. Since I was with mostly new friends I did not want to make a scene but I was truly disappointed. For an almost $15 salad, I expected more effort from the restaurant to accommodate my dietary restrictions after not having the menu item that is on THEIR WEBSITE! Trying to eat my sad salad was another feat. Presented on a rectangular plate so that cutting the leaves without having chickpeas rolling all over the place on the table was a challenge I was hoping not to deal with. I gave 2 stars because most others ordered small pizzas which looked good. I would never eat at this restaurant again but if my new friends choose to return, I will just eat ahead of time if I am still on my dietary restrictions. read more

The ambiance is not good. Half the room is empty, with chairs stacked on top of tables in a very disorderly fashion. I love terrazzo flooring but, gee, perhaps it needs to be cleaned and buffed ever so often... Not so, at this place. My husband and I sat at the bar, and were essentially ignored while the bartender chatted with her friends. When we asked for menus, she brought only one for the two of us. Oh, well.... We waited almost 1/2 hour for our food to arrive. It was lukewarm. My Tavern Chicken Supreme sandwich was pathetic. You had to look really hard to find any avocado (ok, there was a very thin slice about the size of the nail on your little finger), or Gorgonzola, or pesto sauce on it. Don't judge this place on the poor reviews! I loved my experience!! Our waitress was fantastic as we were seated in the patio. It was a great, relaxing vibe. The drinks came quick and they were great. My gin and tonic was perfect. Drinks are well priced. The food was SO good. This unassuming spot is really delivering. The scallops wrapped in prosciutto topped with goat cheese were phenomenal. I will be back for that no question! We also shared the Dublin dip with fries. Reviews were mixed, especially older ones but hey, we are risk takers! Ginger liked it 3 months ago so I brought my confidence and my wonderful wife and ventured in! This place is way west in St Pete in a tiny, very historic neighborhood called Jungle Prada. The tavern is right next to the park on Boca Ciega Bay. It's a large building with both indoor and outdoor seating plus a huge bar, pool table and an assortment of board games. It's all done in darker woods and an assortment of tables, some cordoned off since apparently nobody ever uses them. I was there on a Sunday afternoon so there were only four tables used but it was definitely not prime time. One group was sitting outside and they had their dog with them. So, I would say the outside patio is definitely dog friendly. We checked out the eclectic and highly varied menu and selected a smoked salmon appetizer complete with toasted pita, caviar, egg and more. We also got the old northeast personal 10" specialty pizza. Note, both were to go since we had plans. The lady behind the bar took my order and offered me a water while I waited. I was concerned it might take forever since some had complained previously about service. Our food came up in less than ten minutes which I felt was impressively fast. My pizza, with olive oil, Roma tomatoes, marinated artichokes, sliced black olives, prosciutto and Brie cheese was spectacular! The crust was cracker thin which went perfectly with this interesting combination of ingredients. I am going to have to duplicate this at home somehow or simply drive back the 45 minutes it took to get here! I can't wait to eat my leftovers tomorrow! My wife enjoyed the smoked salmon appetizer! The toasted pita was fresh and crunchy and the salmon was generous and perfect although in pretty large pieces. Ooooookay! It's a major 5 stars for me, but not in the sense that it's fabulous or the best food ever. It's just a straight up 5 star experience. Once you get past the fact that the locks on the bathroom doors are broken, or that half the space is essentially used as storage, you will see this is the most welcoming and comfortable restaurant/bar possible. It's clearly a locals only, same crowd, same order, type of vibe. The bartender actually asked us for our name. And I don't know about you, but that always makes me feel welcome and even more than that, eager to come back! Who doesn't love to be a regular?? We didn't plan on eating when we stopped in. The mission was, to have an excuse to leave the house for the first time in 6 days for nothing more than a drink. But that quickly changed when we saw everyone's food. The pizza caught my eye immediately. And so when I asked about it, it turns out they have a separate business for pizza too! People were in and out getting pizza for takeout, and every time they cracked the box I was turning to stare longingly. I didn't order the pizza. I wasn't hungry enough. But you best believe I'll be back for it. My husband chose to build his own burger, which our server raved about. And I was impressed by all the premium toppings (for a modest fee) mostly because there were plenty of cheeses to choose from! The deep fried pickles were a perfect salty bite to accompany my martini. And my husband's fries were especially delicious because they were his. Fries always taste better when they're from someone else's plate. Anyone else? The food did take a long time to come out after we ordered. Can you do less than one star??? We live in Jungle Prada...we have been trying to like Jungle Prada Tavern for years. The service and food is SOOOO inconsistent! Today we thought we would give it another shot. We ordered the margarita pizza and it came burned all around the edges and at least 1/3 up the bottom of the crust...BLACK...not like the cook or waitress could not have noticed it. When we mentioned it she said "you have to ask for it not to be burnt"....WHAT??? I had the tuna...supposed to be sushi grade...NOT...it had strings of tissue in the fish that I had to pull out of my mouth and leave on the plate. I ordered the daily soup...squash...it was like baby food .. no flavor and thick like pudding and $11.00!!! We also ordered the "creamy artichoke dip" that was anything but...it was hard...broke the chips and had to be shoveled onto the chips with a spoon. Needless to say we left hungry with a $91.00 bill!!!!!! How is this suppose to be a neighborhood restaurant and bar? They served at least 5, what looked to be underage kids at the bar, who only drank...no food (lucky them). We had to go to another restaurant after this horrible experience to actually be fed...we were still starving! read more

Their food and drinks were fine. We had a big group of people on a Sunday night and all their staff members except for one was pleasant. We had 18 people and asked to split the check between family's and the waitress was VERY rude about it. The waitress brought the wrong drinks and then apologized for it and corrected it, and then she still charged us for all the wrong drinks that she brought! We were overcharged $50. Waitress was swearing at everybody and acted very stressed out. We were never brought any napkins or silverware either. This place is not bad but if you have more than 2 people, be aware that they are not ready for you. We will not be going back. read more

What to even say. Uh the food sucks the bartender walks around likes her fucking cat just died, a scowl like she wants to kick your ass if you order anything that's hard to make. The blenders broken ( probably isn't but who cares) there's temporary walls with amusement park teddy bears shoved in corner of piled up chairs, they have temporary walls that have been up for year, and two old ass pianos in middle of floor with piles of board games. The floors look like they're under construction and the tables are from the 80's. This place makes no sense you know they're paying a shit load in rent this has to be a money laundering scheme. I don't know but don't waste your time maybe someone will buy this with some money and ambition and make it something but what it is now has to go!! read more

Mark, the owner, is often behind the bar, making those yummy Bloody Mary's and chatting with those sitting at the bar. Nice guy who seems to enjoy getting to know his patrons. Other staff members are nice and friendly, too. It's just a great neighborhood tavern that serves up very good food, beverages and fun! We were hooked after our very first visit. Try it. This place just never quite gets it right. I don't know how it's survived for so long when other places with great food and service are closing their doors. I was there with three friends, food arrived, half of it was stone-cold. The server never came back to check on us so I paid for half a meal that was inedible.
