We came in a pretty large party of 7 and were seated pretty quickly all things considered. That being said, my husband was misled by the concierge at our hotel that this was the same oyster bar that's at the Station Casinos. It is not. The pan roast was a salt bomb and the veggies in it were still raw and crunchy when I got it. They have no kids menu so that was a little upsetting too. My kids ended up sharing the fried shrimp and scallops with fries. They did not eat the scallops but they enjoyed the fries. Husbands oysters seemed to have been fine, he had no complaints. Overall this was not for us and we'll probably end up at Santa Fe station in the future for pan roast and seafood when we're out in Vegas. read more

Great dinner with friends here on a Friday Evening around 5:30pm. We had a party of 5 and wveeyonenjoyed what they ordered. We started off with the Tempura Shrimp which was very tasty. The dipping sauces are great- a Wasabi one and Plum. I haven't had the Fish & Chips in a while and I forgot how much I like them. It's a big portion for $31. It's Beer Battered Halibut. Fish and Fries are perfectly crispy. My friend had the Fish & Chips also, but with the Homemade Potato Chips and those were just as good. This is a small open kitchen restaurant in the middle of the Southpoint Casino. We were seated fairly quickly on a Friday evening. The reviews are not stellar but everything we ate was good. The warm rolls were very good. I had the manhattan clam chowder which was really good. It's hard to find Manhattan clam chowder as opposed to New England clam chowder. Here's where the little issue is with this place. I wanted to have the chowder and share the halibut fish and chips with my husband. They said that he had to order $10 worth of food for the split plate charge. He wanted a bowl of New England clam chowder but at $7, it wasn't enough so then he ordered a $13 Caesar salad. It was way too much food but what else were we to do? And to top it off, they didn't even split the plate, it was served as is. The halibut fish and chips were good which was a plus. Been wanting to try a lobster roll since I stay at SouthPoint often and have only tried their white clam chowder, which is really good. The lobster roll was made lobster salad-style as opposed to the lobster, mayo, butter style I usually prefer. But the flavor was good and the roll was nice and crunchy. The cole slaw was crunchy and tasty. But the house made chips really put it all together for me. They are lightly seasoned and just paired so well with the roll. We've gone to this restaurant for years now, they always have great deals like right now they have half-price oysters before 4 PM every day. We were just there yesterday. The oysters were literally almost the size of my fist. Was a great deal oysters were very fresh and I've always been impressed with south point restaurants and the quality of their food. We went there early for Mother's Day celebration. The service is always great. They had always have very good pricing, although my favorite dish, which is the appetizer tempura shrimp which I always get, it is pricey at $24 but it's very very good and I love the aïoli dip that goes with it. Your clam chowder soup is always delicious. Check it out because I know you will like their food. People watching throughout your meal is always fun especially attached to the casino. I decided to stop by and have some lunch at the South Point Big Sur Oyster Bar today since it's been awhile. The place was fairly empty so I picked my spot at the counter. The casino was pretty busy since it was a weekend so it was pretty noisy around. I was greeted quickly by my sever who brought over some water and took my drink order, iced tea. She brought it out quickly and took my order. I went with the combination pan roast. Shrimp and crab in a tomato based creamy broth served piping hot in a bowl with a scoop of white rice. I added on the lobster for an extra charge. The server brought over a small roll with some butter while I waited. As I did wait, the restaurant started getting a little busier so I was glad my order was already in. It seemed like the wait stretched on for some reason. About 20 mins later my order was up. The waitress brought over another iced tea and asked if I wanted any more bread. The pan roast was delicious. Big pieces of lobster claw along with a good number of shrimp. The crab was mostly shredded about. The flavor was there but definitely did not have any large pieces. This is a filling dish and I'm glad I didn't order anything else or fill up on the bread. It was lacking the usual amount of clammy chunks (sign of the times) but still tasted good. What got me REALLY excited was the great daytime deal on raw oysters--half price till 4 pm!! I ordered half doz LA Gold Seals, normally $18 reduced to $9. Full doz regular price is $32 down to $16!! What a steal!! And so good and reminiscent of my favorite town NOLA. Incredible Meal tonight. I had the Gumbo it was full of giant plump shrimp, chicken, Andouille, topped with a Soft Shell Crab. The sauce was perfect. The other dish was Crab & Shrimp pan roast. Whenever we are visiting family and friends in the South Point area, we make sure to catch some games at the SP Sports Book and take breaks to enjoy some of Big Surʻs incredible New England Clam Chowder--yum! Their chowder is thick and every single spoonful delivers a mouthful of deliciousness! Itʻs always consistently served at the right temperature and full of flavor. We really enjoy coming to lunch here. The service is always very good. We sit at the bar and the staff are smiling and attentive. We usually order from the specials on the board above the kitchen. We order the oyster special and they have fresh! I love the clam chowder with their larger cracker and their bread is warm and soft. The soup is creamy, hardy and filling. We decided to try a new dish the catfish sandwich "Po Boy" but unfortunately I was not impressed. It was not Louisiana. We usually order & love the fish tacos and we will stick to those. The catfish was overly crusted with spices and I didn't think it tasted very fresh. But hey we gave it a try! We also tried the Shrimp Spring Roll Salad for the first time! It was delicious and fresh! The flavors blended well and we enjoy the entire dish! I would recommend getting this! We stopped by this little seafood eatery in the South Point Casino/Hotel while staying there and had some great seafood at a bargain price. In the early afternoon, BSOB has a number of half-price deals, and we took full advantage by ordering two-dozen oysters for the price of one. Additionally, we purchased a side of calamari which was also a pleaser. All of this amounted to a bill of about $60 - and, as previously mentioned, it was all great! The oyster bar is small and popular, but we were seated immediately on the Sunday we visited. Our server was friendly and efficient, checking on us regularly as we reveled in our gluttony. Choose from Bar seating or you can get a table along the rails that separate it from the casino floor. I'm at the South Point Hotel annually for a work conference and for whatever reason I have never had a chance to eat here and I finally did this week. The restaurant is open air and on the casino floor. Unfortunately it's super loud and smells so strongly of smoke. Plus, the tables are right next to the railing and a super drunk rando was flopped over on the railing to keep himself upright while being walked out by security. I was like I hope he doesn't puke on my table or touch me. These are the main reason why I gave three stars. If I could, I'd give 2.5 instead of three. It left me feeling really uncomfortable and I didn't like how people passing by are literally close enough to touch me while I was trying to eat my meal. The service, however, was very quick and efficient. I ordered two Bloody Mary's and I'm not sure there was any alcohol at all in them even though I ordered with a Tito's upgrade instead of their well vodka. I would not order another Bloody there again. I'm actually not sure I would return again. We ordered cups of New England Clam Chowder and the Seared Sea Scallops as starters. The clam chowder was very creamy and had a lot of clams, but unfortunately there was quite a bit of grit in mine so that was a bummer. The scallops were good, but there were only four so the value wasn't really there and neither of us cared for the lemony sauce at all. We both really liked the asparagus that came with the scallops. We ordered a dozen Louisiana Gold Seal Oysters and it was half price at that time of day. They arrived with a bonneted lemon to keep the seeds, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. Tabasco was already on the table. Note that these oysters were HUGE!! They tasted fresh and briny. There were too many after we had eaten some of the cup of soup and the scallops so we ended up leaving a few of them uneaten. This restaurant could be a really cool spot, but it missed the mark for me. There was a woman who was walking around with her hands clasped behind her back, but she never actually stopped by so I'm not sure if she is a manager or what. Ok the best thing in my opinion is the clam chowder!! It was soo bomb and thick how I like it ! I ordered the honey glazed salmon for my entree but I was not pleased! So I took it back and just got another clam chowder! It is very tight inside and small but they were accommodating to sit 10 of us at a fast pace.
