Plus the sauce it came with went so perfectly. However for ~$22 for only 3 shrimps is a pretty hefty price. But it's def really good. Boiled clams 8/10: this was also super fresh. It was boiled and put into a wine sauce. Super light and refreshing. Seafood diavolo 7/10: this was not bad. Seafood in it was fresh but nothing that really stands out. It was also a lil spicy if u like that. Just a little kick. Nothing crazy. New England Clam chowder 6/10: I think they are suppose to be popular for this but I thought it was okay. The cracker it came with felt like it was a litttle stale but that might just be the way it is. It had a lot of clams which I liked but overall the soup had nothing that rly stood out flavor Wise. The raw oysters & oyster shooters were ONOLISCIOUS! This is coming from a person who had a bad experience with oysters as a teen and has not eaten them since then! LOL It was a Monday night; they were busy, so there was a wait. They text you when a table or seats at the bar are ready. I went with my boyfriend at the time; he loves oysters & wanted to check this place out. We started with: Fried Calamari - huge serving for 2 people! - we didn't finish it. Clam Chowder - delish Oyster Shooters - delish! - I'm not a big drinker, so these hit me quick lol! Raw Oysters - it was a wait to get these, but they were worth the wait, amazing :) --- I LOVE oysters now! All in all, a great experience! The service from check-in to the bar was top-notch. The Big Sur Oyster bar is a sibbling of Palace Station Oyster bar which started it all. I love the clam chowder here. Oysters are on special daily until 4 pm. They are huge and served with a sort of sweet cocktail sauce and Mignonette. They have a reduced price menu till then on selected items. Service is efficient and refills of water or sodas do not have to be asked. it's a big U-shaped counter with a few tables around the counter. They are famous for their pan-roasts served with rice. I enjoy the combo roast including shrimps, crab and lobster. You get to order spice level from 1-10; 10 being spiciest. I usually get a 4. just delicious. We came in a pretty large party of 7 and were seated pretty quickly all things considered. That being said, my husband was misled by the concierge at our hotel that this was the same oyster bar that's at the Station Casinos. It is not. The pan roast was a salt bomb and the veggies in it were still raw and crunchy when I got it. They have no kids menu so that was a little upsetting too. My kids ended up sharing the fried shrimp and scallops with fries. They did not eat the scallops but they enjoyed the fries. Husbands oysters seemed to have been fine, he had no complaints. Overall this was not for us and we'll probably end up at Santa Fe station in the future for pan roast and seafood when we're out in Vegas. read more

This is a small open kitchen restaurant in the middle of the Southpoint Casino. We were seated fairly quickly on a Friday evening. The reviews are not stellar but everything we ate was good. The warm rolls were very good. I had the manhattan clam chowder which was really good. It's hard to find Manhattan clam chowder as opposed to New England clam chowder. Here's where the little issue is with this place. I wanted to have the chowder and share the halibut fish and chips with my husband. They said that he had to order $10 worth of food for the split plate charge. He wanted a bowl of New England clam chowder but at $7, it wasn't enough so then he ordered a $13 Caesar salad. It was way too much food but what else were we to do? And to top it off, they didn't even split the plate, it was served as is. The halibut fish and chips were good which was a plus. Been wanting to try a lobster roll since I stay at SouthPoint often and have only tried their white clam chowder, which is really good. The lobster roll was made lobster salad-style as opposed to the lobster, mayo, butter style I usually prefer. But the flavor was good and the roll was nice and crunchy. The cole slaw was crunchy and tasty. But the house made chips really put it all together for me. They are lightly seasoned and just paired so well with the roll. They have half off oysters for lunch and their lunch menu offers dishes at a cheaper price. However I still wanted the pan roast which was so huge I couldn't finish it. They had always have very good pricing, although my favorite dish, which is the appetizer tempura shrimp which I always get, it is pricey at $24 but it's very very good and I love the aïoli dip that goes with it. I decided to stop by and have some lunch at the South Point Big Sur Oyster Bar today since it's been awhile. The place was fairly empty so I picked my spot at the counter. The casino was pretty busy since it was a weekend so it was pretty noisy around. I was greeted quickly by my sever who brought over some water and took my drink order, iced tea. She brought it out quickly and took my order. I went with the combination pan roast. Shrimp and crab in a tomato based creamy broth served piping hot in a bowl with a scoop of white rice. I added on the lobster for an extra charge. The server brought over a small roll with some butter while I waited. As I did wait, the restaurant started getting a little busier so I was glad my order was already in. It seemed like the wait stretched on for some reason. About 20 mins later my order was up. The waitress brought over another iced tea and asked if I wanted any more bread. The pan roast was delicious. Big pieces of lobster claw along with a good number of shrimp. The crab was mostly shredded about. The flavor was there but definitely did not have any large pieces. This is a filling dish and I'm glad I didn't order anything else or fill up on the bread. We really enjoy coming to lunch here. The service is always very good. We sit at the bar and the staff are smiling and attentive. We usually order from the specials on the board above the kitchen. We order the oyster special and they have fresh! I love the clam chowder with their larger cracker and their bread is warm and soft. The soup is creamy, hardy and filling. I'm at the South Point Hotel annually for a work conference and for whatever reason I have never had a chance to eat here and I finally did this week. The restaurant is open air and on the casino floor. Unfortunately it's super loud and smells so strongly of smoke. Plus, the tables are right next to the railing and a super drunk rando was flopped over on the railing to keep himself upright while being walked out by security. I was like I hope he doesn't puke on my table or touch me. These are the main reason why I gave three stars. If I could, I'd give 2.5 instead of three. It left me feeling really uncomfortable and I didn't like how people passing by are literally close enough to touch me while I was trying to eat my meal. The service, however, was very quick and efficient. I ordered two Bloody Mary's and I'm not sure there was any alcohol at all in them even though I ordered with a Tito's upgrade instead of their well vodka. I would not order another Bloody there again. I'm actually not sure I would return again. We ordered cups of New England Clam Chowder and the Seared Sea Scallops as starters. The clam chowder was very creamy and had a lot of clams, but unfortunately there was quite a bit of grit in mine so that was a bummer. The scallops were good, but there were only four so the value wasn't really there and neither of us cared for the lemony sauce at all. We both really liked the asparagus that came with the scallops. We ordered a dozen Louisiana Gold Seal Oysters and it was half price at that time of day. They arrived with a bonneted lemon to keep the seeds, horseradish, and cocktail sauce. Tabasco was already on the table. Note that these oysters were HUGE!! They tasted fresh and briny. There were too many after we had eaten some of the cup of soup and the scallops so we ended up leaving a few of them uneaten. This restaurant could be a really cool spot, but it missed the mark for me. There was a woman who was walking around with her hands clasped behind her back, but she never actually stopped by so I'm not sure if she is a manager or what. Despite the cheese and everything else that they used to smother the oysters, I could still tell that they're not fresh at all.
