First time coming here around 7:15pm this evening The service started off well the staff was very welcoming when we walked in, and the restaurant was clean. A male server took our order without using a notepad or pen. I've had servers do that before, and 99% of the time they've remembered everything without any issues. We ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer, the Seven Seas Chowder, and the New York strip steak. There was a bit of a wait, even though it was just my husband and me, and the only other table was a family of five who had already been served. After about 20-25 minutes, our food finally arrived but only the chowder and steak. No crab cakes. I asked if we were supposed to get the crab cakes first since they were the appetizer. Our server looked completely shocked and realized he had forgotten to put the order in. He apologized, and we told him it was okay because, at that point, we already had our entrées and weren't about to wait even longer for an appetizer. After that, he came back once to ask if we were good he never came back after.. no refill check.. none As for the food, it was decent. If you're someone who enjoys a good steak, you'll probably understand what I mean. The steak was well seasoned and had good flavor, but it was clearly a lower quality cut. There was a lot of fat, and it was pretty chewy. The seasoning helped make up for it, but only to a certain extent. The Seven Seas Chowder was actually very good. It was flavorful and packed with seafood, so that ended up being my favorite part of the meal. The bill came to a little over $71. I still left a 16% tip because I felt that was fair, although I normally tip 20%. Looking back, I honestly regret even leaving 16% because the service really wasn't it. Would I come back? I'm honestly not sure. If I do, I just hope I don't get the same server! or at the very least, I hope he starts carrying a notepad and pen to make sure orders don't get forgotten. read more

Went here last Thursday for lunch, my suggestion because I had been once before and was very pleased. Well this time I went and I ordered the whole red snapper with a side of mashed potatoes. Well the portion was so large I could barely eat it because I also had the clam chowder and salad, so I warped it up and took it home to eat for dinner, well as I'm eating it for my dinner I was so grossed out to find a long strand of hair in my mashed potatoes! The deep-fried snapper is my favorite thing; it reminds me of food that I have when I'm on vacation in another country. It's seasoned to perfection. My family and I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's a casual spot and has really fair pricing. The we enjoyed the food very much. Been wanting to try this place for awhile, but rarely on the is side of town. Finally had time to take the drive to give it a try. We came during off eating hours in between lunch and dinner so it was empty which was nice. My wife got the regular clam chowder in a bread bowl, my father in law got the fried rice, and I got the seven seas chowder in a bread bowl. All 3 dishes were delicious and everyone loved what they ordered. The seven seas chowder had a nice creaminess to it almost like a bisque. The sourdough bread was great to dip in the soup. We were really excited to try this place since we have been to SF wharf area many times and had excellent seafood and clam chowders there. Unfortunately the Yelp reviews didn't accurately reflect the quality they raved about. Atmosphere is nice and clean. The service was friendly and courteous. But the food was very disappointing. Clam chowder on sour dough was very salty and barely edible. Seafood fried rice had very poor quality seafood and rice was soft and mushy. Grilled octopus was very poor quality. Seafood pasta was below average. The best of our dishes was the fish and chips although I would say it was a 5/10. Overall very disappointing. read more

The food was not good the rice tasted old and like they used tap water had no flavor, the grilled octopus was okay just tasters like it was grilled before and then when I ordered it it was heated up in the microwave. The clam chowder was actually good and the Alfredo lacked flavor. I wouldn't come back here and I would not recommend this place. I'm actually angry that I spent $100 on this place. However I did give 1 star since the server was nice and she did at least check up on us. read more

Went in at 1:30pm on a Sunday afternoon. I was one of three tables in the entire restaurant. I ordered clam chowder and the seven seas fried rice. I specifically ask to get the soup first and then the fried rice. 30 minutes later, still no food. I flag the server down and ask if the food is still coming out, and she says it will be out soon. 10 minutes later, she brings out the fried rice. I'm confused and let her know I never got the clam chowder. She says that is coming out soon. I tell her I had specifically asked for the clam chowder first, twice, when I ordered with her. She said there was a miscommunication in the kitchen. I tell her to cancel the clam chowder. There are mussels and clams, still in their shells, in the fried rice, so I go through to start taking them out of the shells. There is nowhere to put the shells, so I have to just place the empty shells directly on the table. Then I notice that a couple of the mussels haven't even opened, so I can't get the mussels out. The other mussels and clams have cracked shells, so now I have to start digging through the fried rice to look for shards of shells, and sure enough, there are multiple shards. I don't feel like risking cutting my mouth or chopping a tooth, so I get up to go talk to the server. She comes back to the table and I explain everything, and she apologizes and says she'll let the owner know. She asks if I still want the fried rice, and I tell her no. So it took over 30 minutes to not get the clam chowder, then 40 minutes to get a seafood fried rice with cracked shells, unopened mussels, and shell shards in the fried rice. I drove over half an hour across town, then waited 40 minutes for this?? Hard pass. Definitely do not recommend coming here. read more

We had such a good meal! We order fish and chips for appetizers. Food was hot and delicious. Loved that there was a nice coat of breading and so much fish! Then we got the clam chowder and grilled tuna sandwich. A great portion size. For the clam chowder some locations you might notice they use bacon bits but this place looks like they used fresh bacon. For the tuna, we were expecting tuna from a can, but we got the whole fish!! My fiancé really enjoyed it. The waiter Aidan was also very nice and accommodating. I reviewed all the prior recent posts and was excited to try this place out. Happy hour is from 2pm-5pm. I sat down at 5:01pm and the waitress told me I was too late for happy hour. That's fine, mind you I am the only person in the restaurant. I love a good Louie salad. Decided to try it with both crab and shrimp. The salad was huge, with egg, tomato, cucumber and lettuce. It is served with a dressing that is supposed to be like thousand island. It was more like French sauce. Salad comes out, looks amazing. I take my first bites and realize the crab and shrimp were cooked and served HOT? I have had a fair share of salads. Never have I have my protein portion come out hot. It was not a good combination with a crisp cold salad. I asked if I can change it, not knowing this is served hot. The waitress (who is very slow), brought me a menu and recommended the clam chowder cause it is faster to serve. I decided to opt for their fish and chips (Pollock). Looked sadly almost breaded, but not. The first chicken tender size piece was moist on inside. Thought this was going to be the smarter choice. After the first piece the rest smelt like a dirty fish tank. Then the pieces began to taste off. I eat at a lot of places. Hole in the walls up to Michelin star restaurants. The pricing for meals was $25-$65 entrees. Again, I don't mind spending the money, but it has to be great food. This is not. If you are looking for seafood, save your money and time and go to The Oyster Bar. For sure will not be coming back here again. Oh, in the saving grace. They do have really good garlic bread.
