Ku'ulei's Delight with Szechuan Cream Cheese
    Krystal C.

A staple for our Farmers Market runs! I always look forward to getting a bagel sammie from here and the cashier always gives the best recommendations for pairings. My favorite has to be either the Par 5 or Ku'ulei's Delight. I recently swapped the Honey Goat Cream Cheese with the Szechuan Cream Cheese but the OG recipe will always have my heart with the Luau Bagel. If you haven't already, come check 'em out

Turkey, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions, and some sort of cranberry sauce.

This bagel sandwich was wet, slimy, doughy, and unappetizing. I specifically asked if it was toasted and was told it was. It clearly came untoasted. Was inedible, will not patronize this place again.

The wait was a little unexpected but not crazy enough for me to cancel my order. Although there were people saying that they've been waiting for a long time. I got a plain bagel with hazelnut and inamosa spread (I hope that's right).. it's kukuinut crushed and mixed with hazelnut. The bagel itself is nice and chewy but there was an onion flavor when biting into the bagel. I'm not sure if they use the same knife to cut the vegetables for the savory bagels but it was not pleasant. The spread was surprisingly overly salty.. I was expecting a nice chocolate flavor but it was overpoweringly salty and not really a chocolate flavor. I rated it a 2 because I think the bagel is nice and chewy.. absolutely delicious! However, I wouldn't order a bagel with the hazelnut spread again.

The Old Man and the Sea Sandwich on an Everything Bagel

Best bagels you'll find on island, hands down. Big Time Bagels takes me back to NYC while beautifully integrating local ingredients. I ordered the Old Man and the Sea on an everything bagel, expecting the fish of the day (Ono) to be cooked as typically served. To my surprise and delight, I was thrilled to have smoked Ono to go along with the capers, red onions, sea vegetables , and "schmeah", serving a localized version of the traditional lox and fixings. It can be a bit of a wait, but give them a shot.

A bag of happiness- half dozen of the finest bagels

Love my bagel sammie "The becky" honestly service was all smiles and quick as hell. I rocketed out of there with 2 bagel sammies and a half dozen in less than 15mins. Worth it always. Definitely the spot at the farmers market!

I also really like their Old Man & The Sea sandwich (smoked fish) and the Luau bagels are another favorite.

It is baked instead of boiled which gives it a softer texture. The other thing that I learned was peaches & cream, caramelized onions and lemon dill is a delicious combination. They have a pretty organized set up there, sad that Ward will be tearing down soon, I hope they have another location to set up shop at, because this was, indeed, a great experience. I went to New York City a few years ago for the first time and I was told by many friends that I have to try the pizza and bagels in NYC. I did try both and I actually found my favorite pizza in New Jersey to be honest (I have a Yelp review on that). But the bagels were pretty much great everywhere. I had several, but i'm told it's the real deal in NYC. I'm from Hawaii, I get how people are particular about their food. Hawaii food is way up there in rank. But this bagel went beyond my bagel expectations, and let me tell you why. First of all, they took the time to explain to this small time local mind, what everything was, like schmear and types of bagels, to be exact. We came close to closing, so the options were limited, which probably worked in my favor and indicisiveness. I chose the egg bagel and it was very delicious and the schmear, which was really underplayed in description was WOW!! Tasty and so smooth and creamy and dreamy...lol, I wish I bought more, cause i'm making my own mouth water. Long story short, it was great, worth the wait and definitely filling to perfection!! I'm no bagel expert, by no means, but this was my favorite. I cant wait to try other flavors in the near future!! Great Job Tali's Bagels & Schmear and by the way, your staff is pretty amazing, but i'm sure you know this already!!

Kyoto Style Cold Brew. That's all needs to be said…read more My first introduction to Aloha Bakehouse & Cafe was at the Made in Hawaii Festival where I sampled its amazing tasting coffee. Found out that there are three locations in Kaka'ako, Downtown, and this one in Kaimuki. It's located at the corner of Waialae and 8th Avenue, across from The Curb and Kaimuki Auto Repair. Only metered parking along Waialae or street parking on the perpendicular streets. Inside was spacious and had an industrial feel with its concrete floor, metal chairs, metal racks, and with actual renovations in process in the rear of the space. Menu is floor level (sorry tall people!). There's a variety of coffee, tea, lemonade, blended drinks, smoothies, sandwiches, salads, its special Aloha Bread, and etc. There's a lot to read! There are multiple choices of bread for sandwiches (special bread shown next to the register. Be sure to check!). Needless to say, I took a long time to decide! The Breakfast Sandwich came with egg, bacon, ham, and American cheese. Chose the croissant, which was the smaller size variety. This was good with a generous amount of egg and bacon. It was a hearty sandwich. The Tuna Sandwich on Everything Bagel was good. Nice crisp on the bagel. A decent simple sandwich with fresh ingredients. I would have preferred more mayo and the canned tuna to have flavor. Regular brewed coffee was very good. Brewed very well with solid coffee flavor. Exactly the flavor I remembered when I first tried it. The star was the Kyoto Style Cold Brew. It was smooth, clean, bright, and strong. The flavor maintained throughout--even with the ice cubes melted in. Overall, a decent experience. The sandwiches were good. Coffee was excellent. Friendly service. Can't wait to come back to try more things and get more Kyoto style cold brew!

Maybe hardly anyone orders it or she was new and learning? It did take a while for me to get my coffee. The waiting area is quite small so there wasn't much room for me to go anywhere. Overall, the drinks have been good with a variety of seasonal drinks and specials as well. I'll probably return for my coffee fix as it seems to be one of the few coffee shops in the area open on Sundays. Happy Drinking!

The salad on the side also had a delicious dressing that tasted almost like a smoky meat sauce, but with a slight tanginess to it. Yum!!! We also ordered a burrito, and wow...their burritos are HUGE! They're packed and loaded with everything you could want inside. We got steak with roasted potatoes and some other veggies. The café itself has such a relaxing atmosphere.
