This is the first time I can say I won't be back to Bucko. Had a hotdog and fries and it was nasty. Fries weren't done, hotdog tasted a day old, and too much mayonnaise in the slaw. The hotdog bun was hard too. The cherry sundrop was flat. read more

pretty sure that Buckos still has the best moose in town and the thatched roof over the patio tables is pretty swell too even if it doesn't block out all the noise from the truck and car stereo-types. The drive-up has a smaller version of the specials board with prices on it same as up front so you won't miss anything... kinda wish that you'd talk to the moose to place your order and at the same time kinda glad you don't. I took a pass on any form of hot doggery this time and got me a Bucko burger instead; combo adds fries and a beverage for a modest fee. Got my burger most of the way (no chili) because I prefer good to silly and I get to taste the other stuff on there: tomatoe, onion, pickles, slaw... the bun is pretty generic but keeps your fingers out of the messier bits of your food so that's a win. Said messier bits are of good quality, are assembled well, and keep their form throughout so I can't think of a good reason to add chili. Hot, crispy, seasoned fries are the perfect accompaniment and quite good even as they approach room temperature, never even felt the need to ketchup them. Not a meal for the ages but a meal for me none the less: rounding up for value, service, and the moose. read more

Place with the Tiki Hut out front and the Moose in back has always fascinated me. Don't worry. The Moose used to be on top of the restaurant till the City made him take it down. Violated some kind of building or zoning code I thing. In any case, small order at the window or drive through place. Only seating is under the Tiki Hut out front where table and seating is available. I was in Mooresville on River Hwy near NC 115 around lunch time day before yesterday. Very popular place during the warmer months but traffic drops off when it is cold as it was on Tuesday. I was the only patron in the lot and not being familiar with the menu, I parked and walked to the window so I could study the menu prior to ordering. Special that day was a BBQ Sandwich, Lexington Style with Fries and a drink. Told then to hold the slaw. ItI was ready shortly and I took it back to my office to dine in peace. Too cold to dine outside and I'm not normally a fan of dining in my car. First of all, the BBQ Sandwich was great. I prefer Eastern NC Style Sauce and while Lexington also refers to the parts of the pigs used, this was basically unsauced. Could have used a little sauce for contrast. On the other hand, the portion size was hugh. Took two hands to hold the sandwich. They started with a good cut of meat with just enough fat to give it flavor and texture. Good flavor overall, Fries on the other hand, were a disappointment. Very greasy and limp and not something I would order again. Tea was excellent as was the service. Will be back when the weather warms up and I can dine under the Tiki Hut. read more

Little spot that is a welcomed change from the norm. The prices are so affordable it's worth the gas money up there! You can get an array of milkshakes and burgers. I tried the crab cake sandwich which was tasty however the price is what surprised me. Their milkshakes are more milky so if you are thinking of a cookout replacement they are not. Love this place so many good items in the menu plus several different ice creams and shakes/glossy's to choose from. My favorite is the big bucko burger all the way with a side of fries and large cherry soda also their Philly cheesesteaks are bomb to. I'd recommend this place 10/10. Can't forget the fish sandwich I add slaw and hot sauce and it's a hit every time. The line is not wrapped around the corner for nothing. Good eats read more

I have a severe tomato allergy and I ordered a double cheeseburger combo with what was supposed to be ONLY MAYO AND LETTUCE but received ketchup and mayonnaise! call the restaurant and informed the lady and she told me to come back and I told her I had an appointment and I couldn't come back and she was so rude. The burgers were good as always. Onion rings were huge, I couldn't eat but half of them. I've gotten fries before and they are typical but good. The customer service is a separator. Even though they are busy the ladies working are so nice. Refills, condiments, whatever you need. With 20+ choices customer service is what I choose and buckos represents the culture. read more

Arguably the best old-school burger in town. A lot of people rave about What-A-Burger (and rightfully so) but Bucko's is a hidden gem. When you drive by, it doesn't look like much than a drive-thru burger stand. But inside is the amazing Big Bucko. I recommend the onion rings over fries, but you can get Cajun fries that are very tasty. We've been probably a a half dozen times in 6 months and every trip has been great. You may want to he careful with the fried pickles, though. Ours were a little greasy and placed in the bag sideways so it made a bit of a mess. They were thick slices, so not quite as crunchy as I prefer but the flavor was good. UPDATE: I've seen gone back to Bucko's twice. And my order has been made wrong...twice. The food is fine if they actually make it right but that's uncommon. read more

My wife and I stopped here earlier for a quick lunch. I ordered a big mushroom Swiss burger combo while my wife ordered a cheeseburger combo. The fries were excellent with a very flavorful seasoning on them. Unfortunately, that's the extent of the positive rating. My wife's stated her burger was average similar to a burger served in high school. I couldn't tell you what my burger tasted like because I got a chicken sandwich with cheese instead. Lol. It's one thing to mess up condiments or toppings on an order but to not even get the sandwich right is funny but not in a good way. I will give credit though because the chicken sandwich was good. What a little gem! We recently moved here and have passed Buckos several times, so we decided one Friday to give it a try. On Fridays they have fish and it was great! We got the fish po boy, crab melt, chicken fingers and a cheeseburger. The food was good and the staff were awesome! We will definitely be back. read more

I WANT to love this place but my gosh their service is horrible! It's getting 3 stars only because I actually really do like the food, when and IF I actually get everything I order! We've been 3 times in the past few weeks and every single time there has been something missing from the bag. Today, for example, after waiting in the drive through for at least 20 minutes I get home to find no fries in my bag and no cheese on my burger. (I know I know, I should have checked the bag but come on!!) Yum. Yesterday was only my second time at Buckos the first time I got a burger, chili cheese fries & cherry lemon sun drop. The woman (I'm assuming owner) was super nice and tried giving suggestions when I said it was my first time. Comparable to what-a-burger. Nothing that trip really made it better other than the service but yes it was good. Now yesterday when I went I just got the Texas fries (cheese, chili, onions & peppers which I asked to have grilled) dang those were good but the blueberry cheesecake shake... THAT was amazing!
