I like big waves laundromat a lot, I've been going there for a couple of years, ever since the laundromat across the street from my house closed, and it's great. They have two locations, but I primarily go to the one in Santa Monica. The Marvel Vista one is great as well, and a bit bigger. And it has the benefit of being nearby restaurants so you can pop out for a drink or a snack while your load washes. The machines are always really clean, the staff is super helpful, and I love the nice big folding tables. Santa Monica has a few restaurants nearby as well, so you could actually do the same thing there too. But the parking can be tough at this location just FYI. read more

I have to start off by saying that I've only been to a laundromat one other time so I don't have a lot of comparisons. Before going, I'd suggest downloading the Speedqueen app. Our washer and dryer are not big enough to accommodate a California King comforter so we were looking for a laundromat with giant-sized washers and dryers. Luckily, we found Big Wave and were able to hang out at the Grand View Farmer's Market while we were washing and drying the comforter. The whole process took less than 2 hours. On Sundays, the security guard will open the gate for you to park (the gate is closed to keep people from parking there who are not using the laundromat. There is a 2 hour limit). The person running the laundromat is Walter and he was so nice and helpful to us as we were pretty clueless about using the washer. He explained everything and helped us. The dryer was easy! If you get hungry there are well-stocked, super clean vending machines with great snacks. If you need a laundromat Big Waves is the place to go! read more

I didn't notice you have to select the extra water option to get a really wet wash(go figure), when I noticed my machine was dry compared to the machine next to it I noticed the extra water option. I recently moved from North Carolina to West Los Angeles. My apartment doesn't have a washer and dryer so of course I came to Yelp to find a good wash house. I came to the reviews of Big Waves laundromat. The reviews were good so I decided to go with big waves laundromat, and I'm glad I did. What I like is the options of the capacity that you need to wash your clothes. You have small, medium and large front loading washers. They also have top loading washers. They have signs on top of the washers to show you the prices of the different capacities. The dryers are all one size they can handle a lot of clothes or bedding. Also there are extra large capacity dryers. So big a bed could fit lol . The price is for the dryer are .25¢ each 10 minutes. Trust me a dollar can completely dry a load of laundry. The dryers work very well. They have a restroom for the customers. They have ATM machine. They have a change machine if you prefer to use quarters. I use the app you can add funds set your washer or dryer and get a text message that your washer or dryer is complete. They have some paintings on the wall that are for sale. They are very pretty. Another thing I like is it is very clean. All throughout the day someone is always cleaning. Someone is always available if you have an issue with a machine. They have a parking lot, although it fills up fast but there are a few street parking places. They do have a fluff and fold Service. They also have baskets that you can bring to your car and fill up with your laundry, making it easier to bring into the wash house. They have vending machines that have some laundry soaps. Also drinks and snacks although I didn't see any prices so I would be careful about choosing something without a price. Maybe someone working could tell you how much each item is. They are located off of Venice Boulevard at Grandview. This is my go to wash house and I'm so glad I chose them. read more

I usually do my laundry in my apartment building but sometimes you need big washing machines for your bed linens. That's when I visit Big Waves! They have a convenient app, $5 credit when you download the app. And every so often you earn credits, not exactly know when. The app tells you when your cycle will be done with notifications. Depending on the size of the washing machine, it can be a bit pricey. So make sure you have enough clothing load to take advantage of the washing machines. The dryers are only a quarter but depending if you use the top or bottom dryers, the bottoms ones will give you a min or two more drying time than the ones on the top. Limited parking, clean laundromat, friendly staff and they even have a drop off laundry service. read more

I love this laundromat. Staff have always been attentive and friendly, and the establishment is always well taken care of. My only complaint is the last few times, the inside of the laundromat had very few customers, yet the parking lot was full. I've had to park outside on the street and pay, & parking enforcement could be seen nearby. This has been an issue on more than one occasion, I'm not sure if individuals are parking and walking to the local eateries. Other than that, I would recommend this laundromat. read more

Beautiful establishment with WiFi and plenty of powerful washing/drying machines. Big Waves runs SpeedQueen which is top of the line and gets the job done better than all others, bar none. It's a bit pricey but maybe this is just my first exposure to using a laundromat. I guess I'll have to get over it. The parking situation could be better but what do you expect in LA. I've been to the Big Wave in Santa Monica before, which is a nice location, though the parking there isn't great. Since I was already on this side of the hill coming from LAX, I decided to check out this location. The laundromat is spacious with plenty of washers and dryers, and at first glance, it appears clean. However, when I started loading my laundry into a large four-load machine, I noticed a lot of dust and debris between the machines, and it smelled strange--almost like built-up cat hair. When I used the eight-load washer, I saw that the machines themselves were dusty and could benefit from more frequent cleaning. A thorough dusting and better attention to the spaces between the machines would make a huge difference. As for the bathroom, while it initially seemed clean, I was disturbed to find dried poop on the ground, which was unpleasant and unhygienic. Overall, this laundromat is decent, with plenty of parking (I came at 5 AM, so parking wasn't an issue at that time). However, I can't speak to how it is during busier hours like nights or weekends. Regular cleaning and better attention to detail would make this a much better experience. read more

As a long time goer to Big Waves to do laundry, I appreciated the access to use coins or an app to do laundry (especially during covid when getting coins was limited too). The switch to an app was great! HOWEVER, they recently did a massive price increase across the board for all machines. I would spend $25 approximately for washing & drying a few loads of laundry, but now it is closer to $40 for the same wash & dry! Unfortunately, this price increase makes it difficult to justify doing laundry at Big Waves anymore. Disappointed in the lack of notice or consideration of the price jump. If wifi and being able to use an app are the only things that mattered, come. But otherwise, better to go somewhere else. read more

i don't have my own washer dryer in my apt in LA so i look for a neighborhood wash thats modern (bluetooth/app accessible bc going to get cash and then carrying coins sucks) and i also look for big strong industrial machines bc they're stronger and i do one time loads since i work full time and it just be like that. i've looked up and down culver city, palms and venice but came across this place and it had everything when others don't. prices are decent and service is great. a guy named charlie helped inform me on which machine is best for what and he showed me appropriate settings for the dryer which was sooo fast compared to what i'm used to. the machines were done in 20 mins so gone are the days of waiting long times at laundromats. charlie was super busy bc he was helping everyone, nice guy and it was busy in here on veterans day bc ppl are off but the machines finished so fast, people were in and out just fine. nice flow, clean, and effective place :) read more

Out of all the laundromats I've been to in LA, this is the best one. #1 reason? Service. #2) Clean, updated, working machines and facilities. #3) Easy payment via app, and you even get $5 credit when you sign up. #4) Easy parking in a large lot. But what I really want to highlight is the service because that is where they shine. The very first time I came here, when I used the dryers, I loaded everything in 3 top dryers, only to realize, after the fact, that the bottom dryer is cheaper. I asked the attendant about this, and he said it's because they want to balance out usage of the top and bottom dryers. I nodded, noting it for next time. He talked to the owner of his own accord and gave me $1.00 per dryer I used so I could have extra time on the top dryers that were already running. I came here a bunch of times and attendants were always friendly, proactively checking on customers, seeing if we needed anything. Today, I came to the laundromat and realized I forgot to bring detergent. I went to the machine and bought the pretty blue bottle (my eyesight is terrible, also pregnancy brain is real), not realizing it was fabric softener until halfway through the first wash cycle when I was loading my second load in another washer and about to pour it in. Ugh! I told Charles, the attendant on sight, my sad and pathetic plight, and he kindly restarted the cycle AND gave me detergent from his giant Costco sized jug so I wouldn't have to spend any more money. I mean.... I don't know what to say ... that's next level service - to restart the cycle from the beginning (I added extra water too) and give me free detergent! He also helped me figure out the app so patiently because again, pregnancy brain operating at 0.3% (it's not that hard for a normal person). Anyway, I'm so grateful. This place is veteran owned and feels good supporting vets! I'm always coming here to do laundry from now on. Note: if coming on Sundays, there is a farmers market adjacent to the laundromat. Came on a Sunday when the farmer's market was going on. They had a security guard that didn't want to let us in to even unload our laundry. He finally did after we asked and while we were unloading we saw him let his friend in to park in the handicap spot and go shopping at the farmer's market! During regular business hours , all machines are used by staff employees for laundry services. It makes it difficult to use machines ! They take up more than half of the machines . Even on weekends it's difficult. I am forced to go to a different laundry mat . It's super inconvenient when this is the closest one to my apartment. read more

Aside from the cleanliness of the place, The parking and the new machines which are always being cleaned, big Walter made the experience very pleasant. I dropped off my second load of laundry here for the fluff and fold ever and I specifically asked for my bras, leggings, and Sherpa northface jacket to be air dried. I wrote it down and verbally asked for it and when I went to pick it up I was already charged just to be told it was all dried. I can't stop crying because my jacket is obviously ruined and I'm too scared to check on my lulu and Victoria Secret leggings and bras. I've only had that jacket for a month. It's a $200 dollar jacket and it's ruined less than a month later I just want to update: they have reached out to me and we have resolved the issue. When I lived in Santa Monica, I went to their location in SaMo. They opened their Mar Vista location and I have been there a few times. It's not really close to my place but I cone here out of nostalgia and when my regular mat has no parking. The facility is always clean. They have staff onsite during all operating hours. They have plenty of machines to go around and lots of folding tables. You can pay via their app or they have manual methods. They also have vending machines for when you have to be there for several loads. They limited parking for like 18 cars as the place stays busy. Snag a soot when it opens if you want a short path to carry your laundry in. read more

This is for their fluff and fold service only. I dropped off my laundry and literally gave them a sweater outside of the bag. I said "Please DO NOT DRY this, just put it aside." The attendant said, yes and nodded and said of course. I got it back and of course it was child sized. This was my favorite sweater I'd gotten in Sweden. The manager comped the laundry and said he'd pay for the sweater. He didn't. I sent multiple messages about it. No response to any of it. Not a great place. read more

Hopefully, this broken washing machine adventure has come to an end, lol. But in the process I discovered the best laundry-mat, ever here at Big Wave. In the event, I need to wash a giant rug or super fluff comforter and duvet again. Big wave is all Apple Pay, scan codes and Zero coins. Yeah! Amazing, spot. Perfectly, clean machines are new and efficient. The dryer make yr clothes super fluffy and doesn't shrink anything, I dried them all on low-heat. Most of my clothes has to be line-dried. Delightful. Service is wonderful, parking easy. Tucked into a cozy lil neighborhood in Mar Vista. I dropped by blankets+sheets in the wash for $4.50. Some washers start @$3.25. And off I went to explore the neighborhood on foot. Wandered into a local thrift store, with all sorts of cool books and vintage China to pass the time. It's my first time at Big Waves Santa Monica. And I'm definitely going to be returning! It's extremely clean inside, the app used to pay for services is easy. Staff is friendly when I asked their advice. Customers in the establishment were pleasant as well. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Let me preface that I have used Big Waves before and the experience has been positive. However, I recently took my clothing for fluff and fold as my personal washer was broken- I pre separated my clothing and dropped it off. Upon return almost all of my pieces washed had some sort of oily residue stains on them. I sent photos and they offered to rewatch and the manager let me know he didn't see stains on the clothing before so would definitely get those out. Upon receiving my clothes back for the second time none of the stains have come out. Nearly half of my wardrobe is ruined and after a week of being unresponsive they are offering me laundry credit and not to compensate me for even one piece of the hundreds of dollars worth of clothes that they ruined. Why would I want to come back? To wash the stains that won't come out from my clothes? I took my clothing here as I trusted it would be safe and now I am left with the majority of my wardrobe including items I wear regularly/to work ruined. I cannot afford to repurchase all of these pieces and many are not available at all anymore. I am devastated and so upset. Not to mention when I finally got ahold of someone they tried to claim the stains were on the clothes before hand? When a week prior they mentioned this was THEIR fault. I need SOME form of compensation for my clothing now. This is disgusting. Attached are just a few photos of a few of the spots of my ruined clothing. Solid five star experience . Billy and Wade were there today when I picked up my bedding from their wash and dry service . They had service with a smile and were easy to talk to / helpful . There was another worker there when I dropped off my items on Tuesday afternoon. , he was also very helpful . The place itself is spotless , the machines are super hi- tech and even connect to your phone to pay for services and let you know when your laundry is ready . They have a few fully stocked and clean vending machines for snacks and drinks as well as soaps , etc ... Definitely would be my go to spot if I lived closer and needed a laundry mat on the regular .
