I don't usually write reviews, but I've been reading a lot of negative reviews about Biggie's, so I thought I'd write about my experiences with them. My husband and I have been there three times- once for lunch when they first opened, once for a late dinner over the summer, and this past Saturday night around 10ish for a drink. We didn't have a bad experience any of the times we've been there.
All three times, we sat in the bar area, and the service was great- there was no wait, and the hostesses were really friendly. We've had the same waitress the past two times- Jessica- and she was really friendly and efficient. She walked past our table quite a few times while we were there to make sure we were doing alright.
We were really happy about the craft beer selection, and the prices weren't bad at all. I tried a raspberry martini this past Saturday, and it was tasty, but extremely weak and sweet. I'm thinking because they're only $5 they're not full-strength. I may stick to the beer from now on.
The food is always fantastic! Over all the times we've been there,we've had the turkey chili (nice amount of spice, nice and thick), the roasted clams (perfect amount of garlic and butter), the seafood salad, the mussels marinara (the sauce looks thin, but has big chunks of garlic and onion- I could eat it with a spoon it's so good), the thai calamari (my favorite), and the sea scallops (perfectly seared with a hint of sweetness). All of the seafood was unbelievable, and really reasonably priced, especially for the amount of food you get.
My only complaint would be one thing about the seafood salad. It was delicious and refreshing with a light lemon juice dressing, and there was more seafood in that bowl than I could eat in 2 meals, but it was on top of a huge bed of yellowy iceberg lettuce. The menu said "mixed salad greens," but there was no mix, and they definitely weren't green. I was hoping for spinach or some romaine, something with a bit more flavor to compliment the seafood.
Despite my few complaints, I'm happy to give this place 5 stars because the service is great, the food is wonderful, and the place is really nicely furnished, very comfortable, and relaxing. Also, the bathrooms were spotless and perfectly stocked, even at 12:30am- anyone who's been to a bar at that time knows how rare this is. If I really wanted to, I could ask for a stronger martini, and request romaine in my salad, so neither of those things even comes close to being a deal-breaker for me.
Actually, I'm going back on Thursday and bringing a friend who's never been there. So you guys, if you actually read these reviews, keep up the good work, and I'll see you on Thursday! :) read more
