It had some good reviews, and since I'm a big reviewer myself, that's what ultimately convinced me to stop in and give it a try. First impression: The parking lot is very small with extremely limited parking. If there are already a couple of cars there, you'll probably have to park along the street in the surrounding residential neighborhood. The good thing is that the location is very easy to get to--it's right off Highway 152 (Pacheco) and sits right on the corner. They have a large outdoor barbecue/grill area where you can see they're cooking the food, plus a bench outside. When we arrived around 3:30-4:00 PM, there were only a couple of customers leaving, so the restaurant was pretty quiet. Inside, there's a large chalkboard menu that's easy to see and read. Since it was my first time, it took me a few minutes to figure out exactly what I wanted. I ordered the small rib plate with cornbread instead of the garlic bread because I LOVE cornbread. The cornbread was really good! The ribs were also good. I personally like my BBQ nice and saucy, so I added some extra barbecue sauce, which made them even better. The macaroni was just okay, but the baked beans were really, really good. We also tried the pulled chicken sandwich. Unfortunately, that was probably my least favorite item. The chicken was pretty plain, didn't have much flavor, and was somewhat dry. It also didn't really give me that smoky/barbecue flavor I was expecting. One thing to know is that they don't have a fountain drink machine. You'll need to grab a canned or bottled drink from the refrigerator, including Mexican Coke. The food came out very quickly. We had barely sat down after ordering when our food was already being brought out on trays. Overall, I thought the food was fairly decent, although I felt it was a little overpriced for what you get. The ribs, cornbread, and baked beans were the standouts for me, while the pulled chicken could definitely use more flavor and moisture. Would I come back? Possibly. I wouldn't say this was a bad experience at all, and there were definitely some things I enjoyed. I may make another stop in the future.
