I'm originally from San Antonio Texas and when you go to San Antonio there are homemade Mexican restaurants all over the place around every corner. Since I've been here in Arlington for two and a half years I have failed over and over again to find something that is so close to home, but today I finally found somewhere worth eating Mexican food. I cannot believe how amazing and inexpensive this food was, from their enchiladas to their menudo to their sausage with eggs breakfast, everything about this place was homey, quaint and comfortable. Tried this place out during lunch with my husband. He got the special, which was unlimited tacos, cheese enchiladas, rice and beans. I got the barbacoa plate. My husband enjoyed his lunch but my choice was not that great. The flavor was not there, it felt like they didn't put any seasoning other than salt. I was still hungry after my meal. I would expect to be full after a $13 lunch plate. I instead filled my stomach with chips and salsa. There was only one waitress taking care of everyone and we had to physically stop her and ask for more water, salsa, etc. She was very nice but they definitely needed another person for the lunch rush at least. A little hole in the wall joint that's been an Arlington institution for many years. They had super fresh salsa and seasoned tortilla chips to start us off. Our server was super friendly and quick to refill water and chips when needed. Food was fresh but a bit on the bland side. I ordered chorizo and egg breakfast tacos, but it didn't have much flavor itself. The salsa really helped though. This place is just ok. It deserves a 3.5 rating but I don't know how to do that on here yet. It feels comfortable when you walk in and the staff are great; I didn't love my food though, I had scrambled eggs, beans and potatoes. Easily my favorite tex-mex place in Arlington. The lunch special is an all you care to eat experience with crispy tacos, amazing cheese enchiladas with red sauce along with rice and beans. The single room dining area is small and always filled with regulars. Breakfast is also a big draw to this tucked away joint but I can't seem to move beyond the tacos and enchiladas. A true hole in the wall, but also a gem. I have been a regular here since moving to the area about five years ago. The lunch/dinner are okay - the all you can eat deal is a solid value. But Bigotes truly shines when it comes to breakfast. Their breakfast tacos and plates (sausage con huevos, etc.) are consistently delicious. The chips and salsa, on average, are great, though it varies. There have been a few times when the chips were a little on the stale side, and the salsa has great flavor but varies wildly on it's heat level. The price is great - but be warned that chips and salsa are not complimentary and they will bring them to your table without asking. Great service. It's not a polished, super-clean dining experience, but the focus is on the food, and they have the food down. There's a reason why there are 4-5 star reviews from the last 20+ years posted all over the dusty walls - Bigotes knows what's good. read more

Quaint and homely, this Mexican Restraunt has affordable prices for some pretty tasty food. I had the "All you can eat" platter, serving a whopping amount of food- 2 enchiladas, 2 tacos, a chalupa, and rice and beans! I somehow (almost regrettably) managed to order a second plate and left uncomfortably full, but satisfied. My wife and I came here last Friday morning for breakfast and she wanted some menudo. We've been here before for lunch and it's been very good so we figured we'd try their breakfast. We were very disappointed!!! Their menudo was terrible, it was not red in color like it should be, was very discolored, and it had too much fat and wasn't very edible. My wife ate a couple of spoonfuls and that was all she could take. Obviously, we WON'T be coming here for breakfast anymore. The 1 star given is for their breakfast. The Best Mexican food I have ever had!!! My boyfriend wanted to take me for some time and it was such a little hole in the wall I didn't want to go. But he talked my into the All you can eat lunch buffet and I am so glad he did. This is not anything like a chain, this is authentic Mexican food. All the food is homemade and fresh. I have never like enchilada red sauce as it tastes like chili to me but the Bigote's sauce is yummy. Their tacos are not greasy and you can taste the meat. Tried this place on my lunch break, had not ever been there before, walked in there was two parties at the counter checking out and the owner in the kitchen moving dishes around, I received no greeting, stood there for about five minutes and finally step over near the kitchen and asked the owner do I seat myself, I've never been here before, he replied yes in an abrupt tone, he and the waitress continued to walk around me and again I asked the owner if he could clean one of the tables off, he took his time in doing so, the waitress never said anything about drinks once he finally cleaned the table off, so the owner asked me what I wanted to drink, and I ordered with him since the waitress kept walking over me, he was rude and sarcastic, I told him I want the taco special, no enchiladas and he says, what kind of tacos, I said crispy beef, he said it comes with enchiladas, and said I don't want them, so he laughed a smirk laugh and asked three times so you want the special, so I didn't answer and just looked at him, he brought me three tacos with no rice and beans, I told him I asked for the special, he says, I thought you said you only wanted the tacos, clearly he wasn't paying any attention to what i was saying because he was being an asshole, they never once came to my table and asked me if I was doing okay, or needed anything, I had to ask for napkins. Everyone that came in atfer me, was greeted, they were checked on often and their food was promptly delivered, not to mention the HORRIBLE SERVICE, but this hole in the wall trap isn't big as a sunday school classroom, everyone is sitting right up under each other. I don't wanna go this route, but this is what I detected, they obviously do not like black people, because it was nothing but old white men, and middle aged white men and four white arlington police officers in there and they were kissing all their asses, bringing their food out very promptly, I did not do anything to these people, but this is my first and last time coming here, one would think the owner would made the first experience a pleasant one, rude bastard! Bigotes is a hole in the wall by a mechanic's shop. It's a hidden treasure. The All-You-Can-Eat lunch plate offers a taco, tostada, rice, beans and two cheese enchiladas with chili con carne. I've never been able to order more (and should try not to finish my plate) but it is great Tex-Mex and for under $5, stupendous.
