Delicious! Wow, I usually don't get Japanese ramen because it's so oily but this one was just right and seasoned exceptionally well. The tonkatsu and marinated eggs were seasoned super well and really brought the ramen together. Service could be better. They had so many servers standing around near the kitchen but no one paid attention to us at the beginning. We sat there with our menus at least 10 minutes before someone came to help us. Awkward..!! I was tempted to order everything on the Happy Hour menu, and we just about nearly did! Everything here is great quality, nicely sized portions, and very fresh! Driving back into town, we decided to stop at Pirahanas for dinner. Luckily, we caught happy hour (daily 3-7 PM), which offers a full menu of small plates, cold plates, rolls, and drinks. Prices are great, and portions are generous too. Unfortunately, they seemed to be out of nearly every drink I inquired about, and I was even offered Hennessy as a substitute for a French 75 -- so it may have just been an inexperienced bartender that evening. For happy hour we ordered - karaage, gyoza, spicy tuna roll, and shrimp tempura roll - killer geisha (mango) for drink and spice mule. The karaage was fresh and tasty and we enjoyed the gyoza as well. The sushi was ok - the rolls were falling apart and it made for messy eating. Ambiance gives a moody, intimate vibe when you walk in. There's some beautiful murals painted around the walls to admire & Asian style seating tables towards the front that are cool. I like that this place will sit multiple parties at one table as well, encouraging you to socialize with people you normally might not. There were three of us who came during their happy hour (served 3-7pm during the week). We ordered quite a few appetizers as you'll see pictured below. I highly recommend their bang bang shrimp & the gyozas. The shrimp were bigger than expected for an appetizer, perfectly breaded & had nice flavor without being overwhelmingly spicy. The gyozas also were great, balancing the umami flavors with the saltiness of the sauce it comes with. My least favorite appetizer was the calamari. When it came out at first I thought they were onion rings. Entirely too much breading in my opinion. For entrees we all got different variations of ramen, from chicken to tonkatsu to shoyu. Though the ramen wasn't on happy hour their portion size was, which is appreciated because the appetizers are very filling so it helps to decrease waste. I've been all around DFW trying different Tonkatsu ramen, so knowing that I think theirs is just ok. If you're looking to pig out for pennies then this is the place to be. Expect a 20 min wait for happy hour if you're not on the wait list, but service is fast & smooth once seated. read more

When I first moved to arlington about nine years ago I would come to this sushi place at least once a month or so. Before they remodeled it and even after. I liked it before it felt more homely. Now it looks updated, but slightly for a younger crowd. They ONLY carried spicy miso soup, which i've never heard anywhere. The sushi was okay. The service was neutral. Until they learn to properly staff and manage this restaurant, it's a waste of time, a huge frustration, and a great way to make sure you end up hungry. The reason there's a line out the door so often isn't because it's full. It's because it's half empty, and management doesn't know how to manage. While I was in Texas, my friend let me tag along with him to grab dinner with his friends. There are lots of parking around the restaurant since it's in a plaza. The two of us showed up first and got a table for eight people, I believe. We got the table pretty quickly, with almost no wait since it was about 1.5hrs until the restaurant closed for the day. As we were waiting for the rest of the group to show up, there was an incident that occurred with the table right next to us. A few of the waitresses came up to the group to try to assist in whatever way they could. My friend and I shared an order of Takoyaki, then both ordered the tonkotsu ramen. He gave me a menu to peruse. I ordered California Roll, Shrimp Tempura, Takika (sp?) and two different types of noodles . After ordering my food, he told me it would be ready in 10-15min. I asked if I could sit at the bar, he agreed. Food was ready when he said it was. He gave me the bag without reviewing my order. All was well except he forgot the eel sauce that I requested. Also the California Roll was not prepared the way I was used to and I didn't like it. I did absolutely LOVE how they separated the noodles, veggies and other goodies in a plastic colander that fit snugly on top of the same container but with the broth underneath. For drinks, I opted for their seasonal creamy liquor- Kome Rita. It's strong-- THAT IS LIQUORE -- rich, and reminiscent of an Irish cream, so be prepared for a kick! It was packed, as expected on a Saturday, with a comedy show happening next door. We were lucky to snag seats in the cozy, traditional-style seating area with floor cushions, which adds to the authenticity. We chose that. They were out of margaritas. We asked for two cokes. The cokes came out flatter than pavement. No fizz. We asked for another one same. (They didn't charge us for it) but we didn't drink them. I got chicken ramen. Probably the first bowl of ramen I didn't finish at a ramen shop. It wasn't nasty, just uneventful. The broth tasted exactly like chicken broth. You may ask, chicken ramen so what's wrong with that? It reminded me of boiling a chicken in unseasoned water and taking the juice and pouring it over noodles.
