I had the pleasure of grabbing some pastries at Bijou Bakery, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. I was craving something savory, so I ordered the Pain Bijou, the ham and cheese croissant, and a blueberry muffin. There was a long line, but the food came out quickly once we ordered. This place sells out, and they were already out of a few pastries. I was told I ordered the last ham and cheese croissant at about 9:30 a.m. on a Saturday. We enjoyed the blueberry muffin while we waited. It was filled with huge blueberries and had the perfect balance of sweetness. It was not too heavy and instantly became a favorite. The Pain Bijou was delicious and reminded me of the flavors of a sausage biscuits and gravy breakfast. The ham and cheese croissant was really good, but for two people we probably could have just stuck with the Pain Bijou and the muffin. I look forward to coming back the next time we are in Cayucos. read more

Visited Bijou Bakery over spring break and absolutely loved it! We tried the quiche and the pain bijou with sausage and bacon -- everything was incredible. The eggs were fluffy and creamy, the pastries were perfectly flaky, and every bite tasted fresh and homemade. The strawberry scone and almond croissant were especially delicious! I had a lovely tea and cappuccino while sitting on the cute patio area, which was spacious, relaxing, and very walkable to the beach. The service was wonderful too -- the ladies working there were so friendly and welcoming, and they had great music playing that made the whole atmosphere feel cozy and happy. You can really tell this place is locally owned and made with a lot of love. While we were in line looking over the menu, the staff greeted several customers by name and already knew their orders, which made it feel like such a genuine community favorite. Everything was top-notch -- 10/10, would absolutely recommend if you're visiting Cayucos! read more

The food here is very good. The quiche (and crust) may be the best I've had. The croissant and morning bun were delicious and the lattes were great as well. That being said, be aware there is only outside seating. It can be quite cold with the wind coming off the ocean. Although they have heaters they were not turned on. read more

My visits are hit or miss here. I ordered the mushroom, leek and kale quiche. I was served a slice or quiche that was still cold on one side and warm on the other side. It had a whole bunch of tomatoes. I do not eat tomatoes. I found no mushrooms in my slice. All of the tomatoes leaked their juices into the quiche so that the quiche did not set properly and was very runny. I was very disappointed. I would have returned it had I not had two dogs in tow. You can see in the photo that it is running and has all of these unexpected tomatoes on top. I love their outdoor seating area and that they provide doggy bowls and water. Service is always good. Unfortunately, quality varies per item ordered. The quiche was 12 dollars a slice. Pricey especially considering what I was served. read more

Generous, good ratio portion of almond filling to go with the croissant. I would love it even more if they make it stronger almond taste. Right now you can't quite taste the almond. Best bakery!!! The ham and cheese croissant is the best I've ever had--crispy on the outside and perfectly filled on the inside. The strawberry scone is unbelievable, and the honey butter they pair with it makes it even better. Not to mention, they have excellent coffee and a cool outdoor seating area. This bakery is a must see . Arrive early as I've been told they sell out ,and I can see why . The bakery itself is cozy and inviting. The staff are so warm and friendly. The outdoor seating area is spacious. A great place to enjoy your sweet treats. I had the hardest times deciding between the coffee cake or the strawberry scone . I picked the scone and was even given honey butter to put on top . The scone was fresh, soft, and flavorful with chunks of real strawberry.Truly a mouthwatering experience. We came back every day during our weekend trip to Cayucos because the baked goods and coffee were so good. The avocado toast was a hit too.

Surprisingly small stall with a surprisingly large, and very quaint seating area.  The quiches were our favorite of the bunch of the breads here were fantastic as well. If you don't have time for a local restaurant or like eating something quick before starting your day instead, I would definitely recommend this place while staying in Cayucos/the surrounding area. I used to just love this bakery. Bijou always had a great pastries! I picked up a few muffins and a coffee cake serving. I had out of town guests and wanted a few pastries for in the morning. The muffins were tasteless and the coffee cake we threw out as it had brown sugar topping that was terrible. I hope they can find a better pastry chef. Bijou is unique in that it chooses Dark Nectar Coffee, an unpopular but well-established local roaster that challenges top local competitors. I really enjoy their latte's and their bakery items always look so mouth-watering! The adjacent covered outdoor seating makes for a nice gathering place as well. read more

I had to come in when I saw all the pictures of the popovers filled with pudding. Unfortunately, the popovers when I came did not have any filling in them but came with honey butter. The combo was good and I got some other baked items like a blueberry muffin, coffee cake, and crossiant. We ordered an americano and matcha tea latte to go. Overall, everything tasted okay, not great and not bad. If you're in the area, it's nice to get something but I wouldn't make the trip out here just for it. They have outdoor seating adjacent to the bakery that was very nice and accommodating to enjoy your items on the spot . We came with our 3 pups and the ladies were so sweet and gave them a treat. We had seen this place before so today was the day to try it out. It's a small place with pastries. I ordered a croissant, my husband chose a blueberry muffin. My croissant was tasty and flaky, yum. There isn't a big selection and lots of things have nuts. My husband didn't have too many choices because he has a nut allergy and so his choices were limited. We went to Bijou Bakery around 8.30 this morning and there was a line. Had to wait (outside in the cold windy weather) for about 30 minutes to order. The food quality was good but very expensive in this small town of Cayucos. On top of that they expect a tip of 15 to 25% with really no service other than collecting the payment for the food at the counter and giving it to us. Not sure how they justify the tip. They have outdoor seating which is good. read more

Long wait in line then longer wait for food but worth the wait. The bacon Quiche is by far the best Quiche I have ever tasted. The filling was similar to buttery, fluffy scrambled eggs with really good bacon. The crust was soft and buttery yet still crispy. What an amazing spot! We drove from Paso Robles just to try this bakery. Grabbed a lemon scone and blueberry muffin and walked to the beach. Muffin was outstanding. First time we tried this today! Why did I wait soooo long!? BEST coffee cake EVER! Also had a blueberry muffin and a popover with honey butter and scallion butter. Hands down the BEST (strawberry) scones I ever had! They are moist, perfectly sweeten and paired with that delicious house made butter. All their other pastries and coffee are good too! So good that we stopped by everyday when we were in town and even bought a bunch back home.
