I was looking for an E-Bike so I dropped into Bike Newport and talked with Elliot. Elliot put me on a Aventon 26" Adventure E-Bike (750 watt ) fat tires mountain E-Bike. I test drove it around the church and up the back gravel road. I was impressed with the handling and acceleration. 15 minutes later I purchased it. Bike shop for yuppies. If you don't have a bike at their standard (at least worth 500 and in good shape. Preferably over a $1k bike), they will talk down to you. I have multiple bikes and have built many many different bikes. Just because I happen to have my rat rod cruiser with me doesn't mean I am less of human, less knowledgeable, less passionate about bikes or won't be spending more money on a different bike in the future. read more

Elliot helped my 12 year old daughter with the right sized bike. She had grown out of her last one and I wasn't sure which size to go with so we needed some guidance. I had been told to check out Peak bikes in Corvallis, initially, which we did with the intention to buy a nice bike on my daughters birthday but left disappointed as the customer service was lacking and they seemed to have zero interest in helping her find a right fit. At Bike Newport Elliot had her try the Trek Marlin 5 small frame and lowered the seat and she LOVED it! It's a bit bigger than her last bike but that's what we needed. We felt very well taken care of and really appreciated the time he spent with us. He even put on the new padded seat we chose and installed her bell and water bottle holder voluntarily! We felt very welcomed and he even helped to load the bike in my car as I had forgotten to bring my bike rack. Absolutely epic service! As a wheelchair user, when I get a flat tire, it turns what would normally be considered a average annoyance, into a huge issue. So when I got a pinch flat on my birthday I rolled in unannounced and both Elliott and Daniella (owners) were awesome and so helpful, dropping everything to see that my issue was fixed and I was back on the roll with the quickness! In the area for a week of vacation so I called the shop and asked if they rent fat bikes. In said that he only had 2 Mediums and 2 smalls as I mentioned my height and it was on the cuff of a medium and a large. i said do I need to reserve them as I am 30 minutes away. He said no I said we were on our way. We drove there from Lincoln City to the shop there was a guy in line so we waited. As a avid road bike rider who owns 4 Trek bikes i liked the shop as they and some eye candy ( bikes) to look at while we waited. When we got to the counter I asked about the bikes he said oh were you the ones who called I said yes. He then said oh sorry I should have looked at the booking sheet i realized after you called they are all rented. I was with my wife on vacation I thought not now not here lets let it go and we left. The first thing I thought of he had my number on caller ID why didn't he call me and tell me. That is just poor management and customer service. read more

I came in with an flat back tire on my ebike. After repairing my tire, the young mechanic (was told it was the owners son) struggled to put back on my back tire and ended up putting it on wrong. I didn't know until I was riding on it after leaving/the shop closing for the day that it was wearing wrong on the belt & bolt. I brought it back in the next day, the other mechanic realigned the first "mechanic"s mess up. Now I'm unable to ride my $2000 ebike as it's getting $300 worth of wear repairs fixed from this shops sloppy job. If you care about your bike go somewhere else. Truly dissatisfied read more

This bike shop is a joke...don't waste your time! The positive reviews must be from way in the past. Joe, the mechanic there, has absolutely no people skills. And, to be honest, I'm not sure he know's what he's doing. I took my new bike in to convert to tubeless (tubeless ready)and when I got my bike back (weeks later...owner of the shop is on Vacation and Joe's not happy!), my rear tire wouldn't hold air! Joe advised to add air to it once a week. LOL...hehehe. Anyway, the lock nut on the tubeless stem was loose! LOL. I tightened the lock nut with some channel lock pliers when I got home later and now the tire holds air. Hehehe. LOL. I came back the other day for a tune up, and Joe advised that he's got 20 or so bikes ahead, before he takes on any more...."maybe next month when the owner gets back" .....I purchased some parts too, and Joe acted like he's doing me a favor. What a JOKE! I'm looking for another bike shop... Order your parts online- do not but local. Get your bike worked on elsewhere. Even if that means going to Portland, Eugene, Salem. I stopped in unannounced during my Pacific Coast bike tour with a brake and shifting problem. The owner greeted me at the door and said his bike shop was built around bike tourists and he was not kidding. I left my bike at the shop, picked up some fried chicken down the street, watched TV, charged my phone, took a shower and magically my brakes and shifting were fixed for a mere $10. The shop has all the bike tourists and locals would need. Great selection IMO. The shop also hosts local races and bike rides for the community. This bike shop is amazing. The owner and employees are friendly and very helpful, the prices are reasonable, and it's just an all around great place. If you're touring and need any work done or just need some bicycle supplies, this is the place to go. Our brief survey of the Oregon coast showed it to be both the friendliest and the only one that really seemed interested in helping bicycle tourists. In addition, it seems like a great place to purchase a bike: the owner is very knowledgable and happy to take the time to walk you through your options. And, also important, the prices for repairs are reasonable. Unlike some of the other places along the coast, they're not trying to take advantage of their customers just because there aren't very many other shops to go to. read more

We had had 8 flats in the prior 24 hours and knew we needed a new tire and possibly some other fixes. Couldn't be more glad that we stopped at Bike Newport! At a minimal cost they set us up with exactly what we needed and let us charge our phones and fill up our water while we waited. On our tour from Seattle to San Francisco, I suffered 8 flats within a 24 hour period and literally limped into this bike shop with less than an hour left before they were scheduled to close. Not only did they take the time to figure out the issues with my bike and fix all of them, they were also amazing accommodating with water refill, wifi and a place to charge our phones. Besides doing an amazing job with helping get me back on the road, these guys went out of their way to help get my phone to me after I forgot it in their store. When they realized I had forgot it, they sent someone to drive to return the phone to where we were supposed to be camping that night but unfortunately we never made it to the camp site because it was already dark. I called them and they were able to overnight the phone to a UPS store that we would be passing by in a few days. These guys are champs!! read more

Very helpful! Came in and they got our bikes all ready for us. We got all ready to go, and they gave us a good biking route to try. About seven minutes into our route, it started pouring. Even as a Native Oregonian, I was done riding pretty quickly. We came back after thirty minutes of riding and getting soaked. I assumed we would pay full price for the hour we rented it for, so imagine my surprise when they charged us less than half the rental price! HORRIBLE!!!! WHATEVER YOU DO... DO NOT SPEND YOUR BUSINESS AT THIS BIKE SHOP OR YOU'LL GET ROBBED!!! Rolled my touring bike in at 10:15 am on Thursday morning when the shop was quiet and there were no other customers. I am a bicycle tourist touring down the Pacific Coast. There was a bike mechanic in the workstation area. I started to roll my bike to the back workstation since I needed an adjustment. The bike mechanic sternly stated "I'll be with you". (No 'Hi', 'How are you?' or any sort of greeting). As I started to roll my bike towards him, he angrily stated "I said .. ' I'll be with you' meaning that I was suppose to stand at the front of the store near the cash register and not move an inch. In any case, he eventually moved towards me and sternly asked "What you need?" I said that my lower gears were slightly out of tune. I introduce myself and asked his name. He ignored me like link and did respond. I thought he didn't hear me so I asked again. He looked at me straight in the eyes and ignored my question. He rolled my bike to the work stand. He wasted 5 minutes walking around the work stand area not doing anything and then took a phone call complaining about him being the only person at the store for the entire week and told he customer that he'll get to his bike build eventually. 10 minutes later, he starts looking at my bike. He did a 3 minute adjustment. He tightened the B tension screw on the rear derailleur. That 3 minute adjustment cost me $20. I don't mind paying for adjustment but $20 is steep for something so minor. In any case, that wasn't the end of it. After I paid the $20 without comment on my Visa card, he then said you told me your name, and I didn't give you mine. It's Joe. So only after he got his grubby hands on some money, did he finally introduce himself. Horrible customer service. He also tried very hard to "UPSELL" me on a new chain and possibly a new rear cassette even though my drivetrain is pristine. He pretend to check my chain and told my that I had 90% wear on it. I told him that is not possible since that chain has less than 1,500 miles on it and that chains typically last a lot longer. He then revised the wear to 75% and then tried to scare me with the notion that there are not a lot of bike shops down the Oregon coast in case I need a new chain. Joe, the bike mechanic is DISHONEST AND NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!!! He is simply wanting to make a buck at any cost. I know enough about bike components to know his comments were completely off the mark. read more

My girlfriend and I are doing a tour from Seattle to San Francisco and This is the best bike shop we've come across yet. They cater to cycle tourist with a louge, laundry, and even showers! The fellow who helped us was very helpful and took his time working the bugs out of our bikes. We bought a shorter stem for my girlfriend's bike and I ended up buying a brooks saddle. He made sure both were properly fitted and let us borrow a floor pump to top off our tires. I strongly recommend this place! read more

These guys are the Best! Wanted a new fat tire bike that wasn't out yet; called Elliot to see when it would be available. He said he could order from Surly (the new Ice Cream Truck) on 9/9/18. I said order it, he responded at 11:30pm at night(!) that he would order it the next day and have it in a week. Picked it up on schedule, it was assembled perfectly, and the price was fair. Picked up a helmet and some other accessories while I was there from their good selection. I could not be more pleased with the shop and their professional service. The bottom line: professional bike shop catering to casual riders as well as heavy duty bike touring veterans. Extremely friendly staff, unusual positive amenities, and affordable prices. The pros: the service is extremely patient and friendly. There is a shower on the top floor the bikers can use for free! They have all the amenities one may need and you can purchase most anything that you may need for your ride. I rented a road bicycle from them for the day. The price was right, and the bicycle was also in great shape. They also helped me set my own pedals, and they had the patience to fit the bicycle to my size as many times as it took. Finally, at least over the weekend, but also on Mondays, there is a group of riders that leaves the bike shop and is willing to have occasional riders join them with a smile. The cons: if you happen to be in the market for high-end accessories, this is not the place for you. They do however have excellent choices when it comes to the bikes themselves. read more

What a great store! When you walk into this small town bike shop you get the feel of a big city store. The selection is amazing. The staff are helpful, friendly and very knowledgeable.
