My experience there had been relatively positive over the past 7-8 years, but at this point I wouldn't trust them even with a basic service. I initially had a minor back-and-forth with their staff regarding incorrect charges on my receipt. While they did eventually issue a refund, I had to return shortly after for a follow-up service because the tubeless setup wasn't done correctly the first time. To make matters worse, I am reasonably certain my bike was intentionally damaged while in their care during that second visit, likely by a staff member in retaliation. Unsurprisingly, the owner has denied any wrongdoing and refused to accept any responsibility or accountability for the damage. I have been going to Haymarket Bicycles purely for convenience as they are located right down the street from me, but proximity is no longer a factor. For riders looking for trustworthy alternatives, I highly recommend Danny at Bull Run Bicycles or Chris at Blue Ridge Cyclery, both of whom have provided excellent, reliable service in the past.

I am experienced rider who…read moredecided a bike fit would benefit me after 10+ years of riding with a primary complaint of some saddle pain. During the fit I was told that my bike could not be adjusted to the proper position. After some adjustments I rode the bike in its "marginal position" and was quoted a new bike build to improve my situation. After careful consideration I decided to bite the bullet and purchased a new bike from Joe, and this is where the service deteriorated, and my frustration began. When quoted I was told that the lead time was 3-4 weeks and with that i paid in full for the bike (+6500 dollars). on October 24th, mistake number one: Fast forward I finally took receipt of the bike on January 18th: During this time, I was told that components were on back order (even though these components appeared readily available via multiple online sources) During this time there was no proactive communication and only replies to my inquiries (while holding my 6500 dollars). If I hadn't paid in full, I would have cancelled and purchase the bike elsewhere. In response to my frustration, I was offered an upgraded set of wheels (which still to this day have not been delivered) I have now ridden the bike a number of miles and checked in with Joe multiple times informing him that I have been experiencing pain when riding that I have never felt on my old bike. LOL I was told to "do more stretching". Again, I ride well over a thousand miles a year and nothing changed, except the bike fit. When I reached out last, I was told the bike shop was closed for relocation and that once open Joe would reach out to "recheck the fit". Well, I see now the bike shop is open and operating; still no call, still no upgraded wheels, and I am done. I will be happy to pay another shop for a professional experience. Buyer beware nothing about this experience is professional. Just a guy who has some equipment with a goal of selling you a high-priced bike. BTW, all of my strava times were faster and I had no pain on my 1500-dollar Fuji bike, the new bike has done nothing to enhance my riding experience, just caused pain from a poor fit. If there is any question about the facts in this review: I have ALL of the emails to substantiate my experience.

    I had a bike fit with Joe a couple of years ago. I've been riding comfortably since. I needed to…read morereplace my handlebar which Joe sold to me as a result of the fit. I was surprised when I found he had moved his shop and was either now closed or doing a limited amount of fittings. I tried calling and left a message. I hope he is able to respond. So surprised in seeing so many negative reviews.
