These guys are pretty good. They know their stuff when it comes to bike repairs. As an avid biker, I'd definitely recommend these guys.

Dave and Arone's attitude towards me, however, has never changed, and they've been around for all of it.

It's rather sad that when I receive honest, fairly-priced, quality service, it surprises me because…read moreit has become so uncommon. I read numerous reviews praising this shop not only for their excellent service but also for their honorable business practices. Today, I had the pleasure of confirming that every one of those kind words were true in those reviews with the assistance of Sean. As a new rider with limited knowledge about my bike's needs, I made it clear to Sean that I didn't know bikes and told him to do whatever he thought was best. He could have taken advantage of my inexperience and charged me for unnecessary services, but instead, he walked me through exactly what my bike needed and what it didn't. He charged me a very very fair price to fix it right there on the spot. Thank you, Sean, and the team, for reminding me what great service feels like.

I've been going to this shop on and off for years and recently decided to give it another shot,…read morehoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.

Over the phone, David let me know that the first place was supposed to replace the "X" and I should go back and get that done. From that first phone call, I knew that Dixon's was legit and trying to help fellow cyclists, not trying to make a quick buck. I ended up waiting and coming in the next week when they'd have the part. I dropped my bike off and let David work his magic while I went to work. After a few hours I came back, and retrieved it. I forgot to bring cash, so I said I'd be back and would leave the bike. He said he trusted me, that I should take it, and give it a test ride before I come back with the money. Again, he showed me that this was a place of trust and really made me confident in him. The fix was perfect, and it's good to know that this place is Black-owned. It will be the shop that I go to from now on. Despite it being a bit of a walk, I appreciate the service, quality, and relationship here.

I had a very poor experience here…read more I brought in my bike for a front shifting issue and was charged for derailleur adjustment twice, but the real issue was not identified. Multiple mechanics suggested I might not know how to shift properly, but the actual problem turned out to be a bent chainring. That was only discovered after I went back multiple times and pushed for them to keep looking. It did not seem like the bike had been properly test ridden before I was told the issue was rider error. Communication was also difficult, and the overall attitude I experienced from staff felt passive aggressive rather than helpful. I was largely left on my own trying to sort out what was going on. They also replaced the wrong bolt on my saddle. When I asked about replacing the correct bolts, I was told they did not have the proper ones, and the issue was not properly resolved. After multiple visits, repeated charges, poor communication, and the real problem being missed until I pushed for further inspection, I would not return.

The staff acts like they're curating art at a gallery instead of fixing brakes. I asked about a repair and got a response like I interrupted a TED Talk on bicycle culture. Relax--it's a chain and two wheels. And the prices? I thought they were quoting me for a full bike rebuild, a documentary, and emotional support. Labor costs so high I expected my bike to come back with better credit than me. Same attitude both times--like I needed them more than they needed customers. It's a bike shop, not a fashion week afterparty. Nobody needs this level of arrogance over a tune-up. Plenty of other shops in NYC that will fix your bike and treat you like a human being. Start there.
