    Elk Jalapeño Cheddar

I first learned about Biker Jim's when watching old episodes of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations. At that time, Biker Jim had a hot dog cart, what what intrigued me (and Anthony Bourdain) were the "over the top" sausages he was slingin' using wild game and creative topping combinations. I am a less is more guy when it comes to burgers and sausages, but I also try not to take apart a recipe as it was meant to be eaten. On my visit for lunch, I called to make sure Biker Jim was still there before my walk from the office. When I arrived, I learned Biker Jim's was now a brick-n-mortar restaurant, which I was happy to see. I live to see small business growth and success! I ordered the Elk Jalapeno Cheddar dog and the Wild Boar dog, both listed in the Fan Favorites section if the menu board on the right. Both are served on hoagie rolls and wrapped in tin foil, so they are easier to hold and eat with minimal mess, since they are loaded with toppings. I liked the flavor of the elk sausage a lot more than the wild boar, which had the color of a pre-cooked brat (for those who know). The Wild Boar is topped with apricots and cranberries, which I did not taste or see, but the Diablo topping wasn't spicy and included bacon, so that topping was a hit with me. Neither sausage was too spicy, and both were good, so don't let the ingredients scare you away if you are concerned with spicy food. The fries were crispy and solid, nothing special, but I wanted to try them. Other sides are available, including baked beans, fried mac-n-cheese, a mixed greens salad, and Charred Tahini Cauliflower. It has a cool, casual vibe, and cooks were a grill in front and small kitchen in back. I'm glad I went, and I would go back to try other menu items if I get a chance to visit again.

The actual dogs are delicious, but the bun is not so great. It's very pricey for a hot dog but it definitely fills you up! - Elk Cheddar Sausage w/ Classic Topping 4/5 The sausage itself is very juicy. It has a nice snap and tastes good. Classic topping wasn't the best. Cream cheese with hotdog? MEH. I should have gotten Diablo. - Rattlesnake & Rabbit w/ Conspiracy Topping 3/5 The rattlesnake and rabbit sausage was not as good as the elk. The whole hotdog was a bit on the sweeter side so I didn't like it too much. Probably due to the topping. The crispy onions were good though. - Fried Mac & Cheese 4/5 It's very crispy on the outside and very hot. It's gooey which makes it really yummy! But it's very very heavy so I wouldn't get it.

Writing about Biker Jim's presence at Central Park's Sunday Farmers Market... I'm a Chicago native and an admitted hot dog snob. This portable stand made the very best hot dog that I have enjoyed in my time in Denver. Thanks to Carl and Gabriel! Carl steered me towards a traditional hot dog grilled with a tasty bun. Their Sriracha sauce is amazing, and combined with a spicy mustard spread, grilled onions, and their green chile sauce, it was an explosion of taste that I have never experienced before. Simply amazing. I've dabbled with Biker Jim's at the Central Park Farmers Market in the past, but now it will be a regular stop on the Sunday morning tour.

$12+ for a hot dog is outrageous. However, after eating the hot dog once, I would totally pay it again for the experience. We had the ostrich dog, which was a little peppery and gamey- different but not that different from a standard dog. The topping though- you have not lived until you've had cream cheese on your hot dog. Seriously. The fries were thick cut but fairly standard and could have used salt. If you really want fries, ok. But I'll try a different side next time. The sipping pretty is the perfect sour- not too sour, I could have had 4 of these and been satisfied. The perfect amount of sweet. Would order again. Service is counter service, and they were very polite and helpful. They were out of a number of items, but that wasn't their fault. Ambiance is very chill, casual. Perfect for a pre-game. Which is exactly what I will be coming back for.

Came to try some fancy hot dogs, but stayed on the"safe" side in ordered the wild boar and jalapeño elk cheddar dogs that were on the favorites list. I would highly recommend ordering those instead of customized if you can't decide, because they come with the most popular topping combination for that specific hot dog. The wild boar is a bit one the sweet side, but that was somewhat expected and I didn't mind one bit. We enjoyed the fried mac & cheese, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and had just the right amount of cheesiness inside. The workers here are super friendly and service was quick, even during peak dinner hours. We opted for take out, but there's a good amount of seating inside and also a few tables outside. Definitely worth a stop if you are visiting town! If you want to be more adventurous, there are many more unconventional meats on the menu!

Hands down one of the best hot dogs I've ever had! The dog itself is excellent, packed with flavor and great texture. The wild boar is enhanced with apricot and cranberries, almost like a Thanksgiving feast in a sausage casing. I highly recommend The Conspiracy topping, which was recommended to me by an employee, bursting with balanced and delicious flavors that perfectly complimented the dog. Even my wife's vegan dog was spectacular, far beyond (no pun intended) an Impossible dog or many other inferior competitors - they put as much effort into this as they do their classic offerings. From the buns to the dogs, this really is about as good as it gets for a gourmet dog.

Biker Jim's really does serve Gourmet Dogs...( I still like Snapping Steve's better). They are pricey beasts for sure but the quality is really good. My Coney Island ,fries, and draft pint was $24. Wonderful staff and great ambiance. If you are searching for unique tastes and dogs.....Jim's is your place.

Roadtrips mostly require driving to get somewhere, but sometimes they also involve driving to get somewhere specific you wanna eat. And so it is with "Biker Jim's" in Denver, Colorado. Always in search of a good hotdog, I was truly intrigued by the offerings at my new friend Jim's. Initially drawn by his "Ostrich" dog (which was outstanding and worth the drive), I was surprised that you can also order veal, buffalo, rattlesnake & rabbit, or wild boar (in addition to Vegan and more traditional offerings). An easy walk from Coors Field, Jim's would make a great pre or post game destination. If you're wondering what music selection best accompanies an ostrich hotdog, I found Jim's selection of "Blood Clots and Black Holes" by Thrice to be a logical selection. Personally I think "Eat Mor Bef! " needs to be incorporated into Jim's marketing campaign, but I'll leave that to him to decide. And that's...Henry's Take. #ostrichtheotherwhitemeat #eatmorbef

The only thing was that I wish the sausages met the ends of the hotdog sandwich because it looked a little small. The toppings are a little pricey being 2.50 for toppings. It looks very plain without any toppings. It is a little pricey overall but I guess that's because of all the exotic meats. Wild boar tastes like spiced diced pork Jack a lope was my favorite because it taste like a hot link. Rattlesnake and rabbit is a little hard and chewy, very herby. Ostrich has is light and is a little chewy. Flavor reminds me of Ikea's Swedish meatballs.

    Ostrich with el Diablo

I heard so many good things about this place from fellow foodies that I just had to stop by while in town. Normally I'm not a fan of hotdogs, but after hearing the assortment of different options that Biker Jim's bad, I just had to try them. Sadly, there was no rattlesnake/rabbit yesterday, but I still got to try both the ostrich and wild boar! I topped both of them with el Diablo, which was so good and on the savory side. My favorite of the two was the ostrich, I found it to be a bit more juicer, paired with el Diablo better, and overall was just my preference! I also had some fries, which I wouldn't recommend, they were a bit bland and too soft for my preference. Overall, if you're an adventurous foodie and want to take the normal hotdog above and beyond try biker Jim's out! Staff was kind and the hotdogs were prepared rather quickly!

Pricier but bigger and better than the competition. (Which I wish could be said about me . . . but can't:)

Been a while since I made the trip down to Biker Jim's for the doggie I get every time . . . the Elk Jalapeno Cheddar dog with the Classic Biker Jim topping (sour cream and onions grilled in Coke (unfortunately with a capital "C"). Add a little spicy mustard to that puppy and you've got -- after tax and tip (at their "lowest" suggested amount) -- the $15 sandwich that appears in its majesty pictured below. Now I've been a fan of Biker Jim's since he was at his 16th St Mall cart spot ages ago: Kinda like before he became famous. And lemme tell you, that EJC dog blows away the competition. But that fact begs the question of whether or not it's worth that many Lincolns. I guess to me, since I left my office (in which I'm having to work over the weekend) it was worth it or I wouldn't have gone. But I'm talking here in the comparative sense. If I can get a decent to very good hot dog at literally 1/3 the price (see, e.g., Snappin' Steve's Dogs out east on Colfax) how do I judge having to pay 3 times as much for the experience of the clearly better BJ dog downtown? I'm not smart enough to know the answer to that question. I guess the price is what keeps me from being a regular at BJ's. But I can afford it so when I want something better than what's otherwise around I'll always find myself diggin' a little deeper to enjoy that special taste. So, here's to Biker Jim's. You're (sometimes:) worth it to me! David "Compared to what" M

Went here today and got the wild boar with the conspiracy toppings (SUCH a weird combo - blue cheese, lemon, bacon jam but it works so well). The sandwich itself was delicious but 1) the bread was somewhat stale (my coworker agreed) and there was too much of it. I tore off a lot of the bun itself to get to the meat. Also, this place is pricey! With tax and tip I ended up paying about $19 for yes a rather large dog but that's still way more than Cava or Chipotle which can stretch me two lunch meals. Won't go here often but when I'm feeling an indulgent treat yoself lunch I'll come back.

First time at Biker Jim's and was overall really pleased but would love to go back and try all the other options. The elk jalapeño cheddar dog ($10) had a great snap to it and a softly steamed bun. The details matter! Also got the Bikers Jim Classic add on ($2) which was cream cheese and caramelized onions. Didn't think that would make sense on a dog but in fact it does! Mac n cheese bites had a great fried crunch to them and were molten hot.

    Do they have chicken dogs?

Yes, they have a Chicken Rosemary Dog.

Hi Jim, 11 friends and I are going to the Rockies game on 9/27 (day game). Can you fit us all in before the game and should we expect a wait? The dogs look awesome by the way.

It's not close from my southeast Denver house at all but I make the trip to go here when I crave for good/quality bbq. Service is (in my frankest sense) solid and this restaurant has never failed in that regard. I always see the same lady manning the front. Her demeanor and speech are always consistent where her professionalism is her strong attribute. Quality is of utmost importance at any restaurant and this place is consistent in that regard as well. Today, I had pulled pork (about 6oz; by the way, you get to pick how much you want as you pay by the weight.) To accompany my meat, I got the Elote Salad and the Jalapeno Corn Bread. These created the perfect combination of balanced breakfast (yup, it was past 11am but it was my first meal of the day!!) It truly filled me up. The ambiance is of a typical bbq place. It's small and yet with the symbiotic relationship with the brewery right next door, the current space size justifies. The customers from said brewery come and get food as "eat-in" to take their plates back to the brewery to eat while brewing themselves up (lol!) Businesses co-exist/co-mingle/co-operate. We all help each other. I am giving my solid high five to Pit Fiend today. This place has my heart.

These cats worked at Owlbear, the former BBQ restaurant in this very space. When they closed, they decided to take the leap of faith, rebrand slightly, and carry on the tradition. Well it's probably been three years at this point, clearly they're succeeding in this tough biz! I used to say one of the quintessential Denver experiences was having a plate of Owlbear while drinking an OMF beer ( the neighboring brewery Our Mutual Friend). I'm happy to report the Pit Fiend and OMF relationship is just as strong, and the experience still remains a very Denver thing to do. Things to note: they are using USDA prime beef brisket, heritage breed duroc pork, and make their sausages and sauces from scratch. So they're doing things the right way, not sacrificing quality, and not taking shortcuts. This is important in the BBQ world!!! Low and slowwwww, baby. We split a half pound of fatty brisket, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese, and a cornbread muffin situation. Food was awesome. I was going to town on the brisket. Pulled apart as it should, while still remaining intact. The mac isn't your typical mac, but boy it's rich and cheesy. You can tell they work hard for the community. Sometimes it's overwhelming inside and the staff seems a little behind, but they hustle here. Tip your pitmasters!!!
