Best veggie sausage I've ever had! We cooked them on the grill, and they were done very quickly. Delicious!

I can not say enough good things about the people at Reliable Bros. and the quality of their meat…read moreproducts. We had a neighbor that has been buying a few items like shrimp and sausage long before the pandemic hit. When it became difficult or unwise to shop for meat in the grocery store during the pandemic we ordered several times from Reliable Bros. At the time we thought it was a stop gap measure until things settled down. The first time that we ordered changed our minds completely. The experience was amazing, they took our order over the phone, they described any item that we asked about, they offered suggestions and options when some meats were only sold in large volume. Then we tried the meat. Everything was amazing. The next time that we ordered we placed an order for almost $1,000 for ourselves and a few family and friends. Again the process was amazing, everything was packaged and ready when they said it would be. They cut whole pieces to order exactly has discussed. There wasn't a single thing that we ordered that wasn't of superior quality, yet very reasonably priced. The prime strip steaks were perfect and this was after we had frozen them which we never have done pre pandemic. The corned beef...nothing short of amazing. Easily the best corned beef we have ever had and we eat quite a bit of corned beef. The chicken was great, the pork chops and pork tenderloin were far better than any I have purchased at Price Chopper. The most important thing is the quality of what we eat and this more than checked that box. If you want prime meat cut or packaged exactly as you want at a price far less expensive than the grocery store and sold by nice, knowledgeable people give them a call. You won't be disappointed!

Hot. Beef. Sandwich…read more It's hard to think of five bucks better spent. Usually, that sandwich is made of their famous corned beef or pastrami. How famous is their pastrami? Well, it's what they use at Katz's in NYC. Except at Katz's they apparently boil the pastrami before serving it so it totally falls apart. That's what I learned from the passionate fellow behind the counter today. Well, that, and they had no pastrami prepared for sandwiches. Well, I'll just have to come back. For years I've been told of the legend of this place. The place where Old World Provisions meats are sliced and served on bread for a pittance. A manufacturing facility where there is a small retail operation that's open to the public. Helmbold Fritz is like a beacon on a hill. Well, it's on a hill at least. It's a bit tucked away in the warehouse district around the corner from the Franklin Ballroom. And when you pull into the driveway, you have to go around back to get to the front door. It's almost as if they don't want you there. But they totally want you there. Kinda. When I called to ask if they were open for lunch, the response was, "Lunch? We open at 11." I'm unclear if the wooden picnic table around the back of the deli was actually meant for visitors of if its for employees, but we decided to stick around and eat there instead of having a car picnic. It was a glorious day. Part of me is a bit worried about coming back here for pastrami. Because if it's half as good as I suspect it will be, it might be hard to keep me away. That fifth star is being reserved until I try their signature products. But I promise to report back.

Was looking to buy a kielbasa, but was specifically looking for one stuffed krajana style (Polish for chunky), not ground meat style. They only make the latter. I ended up with frozen packages (frozen, due to the long drive home) of Italian sweet sausage, Italian hot sausage, and bratwurst. Each priced at $10.49 / lb. For me, a bit steep. DD got breakfast sausage. Also, what seemed to be a side of beef. It was very heavy carrying it to my vehicle. He, who wears a Rolex watch (and drives a Lincoln!) also thought the prices were steep. He rated them 3 star, which is to be expected. He has, in fact, earned his reputation as Demanding Dan. If I lived a bit closer, would be interested in trying a few other things. And fresh, not frozen. Update - next day. I had one each of the hot and sweet Italian sausage. Very, very good. Nicely spiced, seems like lower fat content than store-bought. Still pricey, though, and no fennel seeds!?!?

The steaks are outstanding quality. The Lamb Sausage which we grill is a family favorite, especially as an appetizer. The Italian Sausage is great in sauce or grilled. They also make sausage patties in the summer. Their grated cheese is always in our refrigerator. Out of state relatives request the cheese and the Italian Sausage when we visit. What can I say about this place? A LOT. But in the interest of not completely filling up Yelp's…read moredatabase, I'll keep it brief. The first thing that you notice when you walk into Garofalo's is how great it smells: it's like getting hit in the face with a cinder block of glorious fucking awesomeness. It smells THAT good. I love it. I really don't think there's a single thing here that isn't fantastic. I'm especially in love with their smoked ribs. The stuffed pork chops are awesome. They make all sorts of phenomenal sausages. They also sell a variety of other things: various cheeses, meats, spices, canned tomatoes, olive oil and more. The staff at Garofalo's are great as well. They're very friendly. This place is obviously in the best hands. If you're not familiar with the area, it might be a little tricky to find because it's on a weird little road. There really isn't any parking (I normally walk here from my Schenectady office anyway), so the best place is to just park in the lot around the bend behind Perreca's and Cornell's. Garofalo's is well within walking distance from there. Garofalo's accepts credit cards, but there's a minimum amount (which is $15 if I recall correctly). Be warned: If you're going there today for the smoked ribs, you're SOL. I'm pretty sure I bought them out for the day. That's how I roll.
