This was immensely disappointing. The General Tsaos chicken was okay but the pork fried rice was unlike any that I have ever eaten. Soy sauce colored but tasteless.The sweet and sour chicken was bland. I anticipated some high quality cuisine because of the reputation of this restaurant. I'm accustomed to Chinese cuisine for decades from all over and maybe it's just me but- overpriced and underwhelming.. They may be an acquired taste because I'm decades in to Panda Kitchen's offerings and they are delicious. Panda Kitchen in Maplewood is not a dine -in restaurant for the most part- they have a couple of tables and chairs but they excel in takeout. Even No 1 in South Orange is more palatable. The food was horrible. I went here with my friend after he was referred to try this place. We ordered the corn seafood soup, general tso chicken, sweet and spicy jumbo shrimp. It came with white rice, which was the worst white rice I've ever had. I can't tell if it was frozen the defrosted or left over night. It tasted like if we left it in the fridge one day it would be bad so we had to throw it out. I asked for the shrimp to be spicy, it was very much mild. The general Tso chicken wasn't the worst but it also wasn't up to par. Knocking this off of our list of Chinese places to try. Perfect comfort food for me. I love this place. Adding duck sauce to the lo mein makes it absolutely perfect for me. They have great chicken dishes (I love their sesame chicken) and I can't recommend this place enough!!! It's what I crave whenever I just want classic Chinese takeout. My Husband and I ordered here for the first time! We heard good things about it! However we ordered Wonton Soup- the broth tasted like water no flavor at all. Fried Dumplings-Again NO flavor! Nothing much to write about here. I was looking forward to some good comfort Chinese food, but was not left impressed at all. I order an egg roll which did not contain any pork. It was more of cabbage roll. The scallion pancakes also had no taste or scallions. It was kind of baked tasting and literally tasted like bread and oil.My boyfriend ordered the Crispy Beef with black pepper sauce which I can bet you money either was given to us incorrectly, or they used chicken to make this dish. I am very happy that Bill & Harry is back! My second dinner within 10 days. I decided in the middle of my nightly walk after 10 hours of WFH to pick up supper. I've been waiting for over 1 1/2 hours for my food. I understand that it's Christmas, but they are so disorganized. Never again!!!

Bear in mind, this is takeout and not sit-down Chinese. But we like this place quite a bit. The food tastes fresher and it seems like it's made a little healthier (in relative terms!) than your standard hole-in-the-wall takeout. Less greasy overall, which we appreciate. This is our go-to for Chinese takeout. We especially like the soups! Hot and sour soup is good, and the egg drop wonton soup has excellent chewy wontons and a nice ginger flavor. Amount of food is good, especially if you order a noodle dish - the takeout container looks small but there is a hefty portion of noodles compressed inside. Called and placed an order for delivery one Saturday evening. The woman that answered the phone(cashier) was very rude and disrespectful. Almost as if she didn't want to take my order for delivery. After taking my order she still tried to convince me another 5X to come and pick up instead of delivery. It's almost like she felt empowered giving me a hard time over the telephone. We order pretty much the same things all the time: Beef & Broccoli, Chicken Lo Mein, Chicken Fried Rice, and Sesame Chicken. All of which are extremely good !! My boyfriend is the kind of chinese food eater that never ordered any meat that he couldn't readily identify; meaning that the only meat he would order from a Chinese place was chicken wings. But from Bill&Harry's everything is repersentative of what it describes, he Beef&Broccoli tastes like the beef that you would chop up and make stew with at home. We love it, I guarantee that you will love it ! They offer very limited delivery through a company called Deals4Meals. But if you do not live within a couple blocks of the establishment, you cannot benefit from the delivery service. We call ahead, and within 15-20 minutes our food is ready. And takeout means takeout, you will not find a single table in this walk in and order at the counter establishment. Disgusted! The owner/cashier lady is supremely rude with a nasty tone. I ordered the Buddha's Delight after confirming that it was only vegetables. After getting home to dinner I learned it had tofu mixed in - for which I have an allergy. So I called to give her a heads up that I wasn't able to eat my meal because of my allergy and maybe that they could include all ingredients in the description. Well, she was highly offended and wouldn't even consider my suggestion about it. I didn't take it personal and moved past it. Although their name would never indicate as such, Bill & Harry's is actually a pretty solid and reliable take-out only Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, there is a serious dearth of quality Chinese food spots in the SOMA area (that's South Orange/Maplewood, for all those not in the know), so when I discovered B&H, I was pleased. Don't be fooled, there is nothing fancy about this place or their food, but like I said, it's solid. You need dumplings? No prob. Cold sesame noodles? Got you. Beef or chicken with broccoli? General Tso's? Moo Shu Pork? Fuggetaboutit! All the usual suspects and repeat offenders of the Americanized Chinese food syndicate are here. I had the WORST experience here. I've ordered a few times, but the last two times have been the worst... DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! This time I ordered dumplings (pretty good, crunchy on one side, although very doughy overall), orange chicken, and general tso's chicken. The chicken had been definitely been sitting out for quite a while - that was obvious. It was cold, the sauce congealed, and hard as a rock. I called the restaurant to ask for a refund/new delivery, but they said they were closing. I said that wasn't acceptable, but they said they would give me a full refund if I brought it back the next day. I brought it back and waited 15 minutes for the owner's wife to show up - because he didn't know how to process a refund on the credit card machine. Then she only gave me $24 of my $37 back because I had eaten the dumplings (fair), but she charge me the delivery fee, all the tax, and the tip I gave to the driver before I knew I was accepting DISGUSTING food. The man was nice but his wife was rude and refused to hear me out. These people are stingy and dishonest to their word - and they serve food that has been sitting out for hours. Everywhere else in the immediate SOMA area has been pretty bad for Chinese. Extremely disappointed. After reading the review and I decided to try. I called soon as 11:30am on Saturday when the place supposed to open. No one answered. I drove by to see if number is wrong, pitch dark and no one there. I waited another 15 minutes finally someone picked up the phone. I asked "are you open?". The guy on the phone saids no one here and place will not be opened for another 30 minutes, he says "my workers are late, must be stuck in the traffic." It was almost 12pm.
