Wife and I went to Old27 for our 10 year anniversary (moved here the day before). We had the crab stuffed jalapeño poppers, smoked tuna dip and the shrimp tacos. Poppers took a little longer than the smoked tuna, but that wasn't an issue. Wife and I really enjoyed the shrimp tacos. Shrimp is grilled and the fish is fried so we chose shrimp. Also, happy half off Miller Lites ($2) is pretty legit. Service was above average as well. We will be returning! read more

Saw this place driving into Fairhope and thought I'll try it before I left and thank goodness I did! Awesome place for downright killer grub. The Holy Cow burger is awesome and the peppercorn sauce is tasty! You can really taste the meat and although I tend to like soggy fries, these were definitely on the top of my fry list and the drowning in peppercorn sauce made everything even better! The staff is as friendly as they can get and don't worry, portions are big as you can tell! Parking can get a little tight when they are busy. read more

Laid back atmosphere, reasonable prices, good burgers and their side of bacon was really good. We did ask them to light their fire pit as soon as we arrived so we could enjoy the fire, they kept saying they'd get right to it, finally got to it as we were finishing our dinner and about to leave. We have been to the Old 27 Grill many times. On Saturday and Sunday they have live music outside which is a bonus. Also on Sunday, they have bottomless mimosas for $5. Another plus! We typically sit outside on the picnic benches which are big enough to accommodate 15 people easy which is nice since we usually head there with friends. Being able to sit outside with the kids being able to have fun is a big selling point here. Kids love the Mac and Cheese....smothered with real cheese, yum. And they have terrific burgers....thick patties cooked to order. They have really tasty hotdogs and brats, as well. Their fries are hand cut and the onion rings rock, too. Delicious. I have ordered the ribeye a couple of times, and I would not recommend it. The wings are very good, too. All in all, I would recommend Old 27 Grill for the atmosphere outside and their comfort food. Had the holy cow burger. Realized afterwards it was a ripoff. Same size as the other burgers, but cost $4-$5 extra. The difference? It comes on a plate and it has some sauce. This is a very unique find!!! Driving there, I didn't know if I was coming to someone's home fir dinner since it's sort of in a neighborhood in the highway. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The child was really good! Fries are freshly cut and the coleslaw was not good typical recipe; it had kale! The burgers are really good. The owners have mastered the art of slow cooking meat for sure. Our waitress was super friendly, but upon our arrival we were sort of confused as to where to sit or if we were to seat ourselves, etc. The host wasn't very welcoming. Ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. The burger was great. The fries were terrible. Super, super soggy and literally sat in a puddle of grease on the plate. Seemed like they were fried more than once or maybe in old grease? Chicken sandwich wasn't good and didn't come out as I had ordered. The chicken was completely tasteless, topped with undercooked bacon and cheese. I got the green beans as a side (for an up-charge) which were served cold. Fun evening. Anyone who goes there and doesn't get caught up in the wacky charm of the place, must be a stick-in-the-mud. We had boiled peanuts, pimento cheese with bacon for appetizers. Husband had the award winning pork belly sandwich and loved it. I had the shrimp sandwich but wished I'd had his. Mine didn't quite have enough flavor. I arrived at 3 PM on a Sunday afternoon. I sat down beside my friend at the bar, who had already ordered. The bartender told me it would be just a minute. 20 minutes later, my friend asked the manager to get me a drink and a menu. He made the drink while I looked at the menu. 15 minutes after I was ready to order, the bartender grabbed the menu in front of me and put it up. She never asked me what I wanted to eat. It was at that point, I asked for the ticket and left to eat at another establishment. I'm local and have never had such terrible service while sitting at the bar. read more

I got a burger. Literally the simplest thing on the menu. They forgot my cheese and when I asked for cheese they brought my shredded cheese. The burger was so greasy the bun was soggy. This place has gone WAY downhill. We went on a Sunday afternoon. They weren't very busy...but we waited over 15 mins for anyone to acknowledge us. Finally we got someone to take drink orders...another 10 mins later we got our water/tea. Then he said "I'll be back in 2 mins to take your order..." Nearly 10 mins later he came and took the order. Didn't write anything down and even though I corrected him twice on the order, he brought one of us (me) the wrong thing. Left the wrong item there anyway saying we wouldn't have to pay for it. The item was not eaten, as it wasn't what I wanted anyway. When I FINALLY got what I ordered, everyone else was finished eating.The bill comes, and BOTH the wrong item and my VERY late item were on the bill. Worst service I have ever had at a restaurant. Started with the server taking our drink order, my husband ordered a Bloody Mary, I ordered a Pepsi. Waited forever and the bartender is the one who brought the Bloody Mary, no Pepsi. Server came back to take our food order in which we ordered an appetizer and our food. I asked for my Pepsi also. She finally brought my drink but no appetizer. Finally our food arrived, before the appetizer. I'm not sure who brought our food but we asked her to bring our appetizer (boiled peanuts). She brought them however they were spicy, we ordered regular. All in all, every little thing took forever, there were tables who arrived after us but received food before us. Mind you, there was about 5 total tables while we dined. Not busy at all! Will not return. Food was mediocre at best. This was one the worst experiences at a burger place I've ever had. A couple of friends ordered Waitr from here Friday night. We ordered 3 burgers, all ordered medium well. The burgers arrive and there is like one limp old piece of lettuce on the burgers and half a pickle. That's it, no sauce, tomato, onions or anything. The burgers were all raw. My wife and I decided to take a little road trip for this dive that we have heard good things about. It was a rainy night, so the crowd was sparse. Most of the seating is outdoors or on a patio thus not covered from the elements. We sat at the bar and what wonderful service we had from the bartender. The conversation was good and she was very helpful with the menu. We had the tuna dip with the house made chips as a starter and it was really good. The chips were a great touch. We both are burger lovers so we went with the black and blue burger and it was awesome. I had the onion rings and she had the fries. The onion rings were a 8 and the fries were a 10. I absolutely love going to the Old 27 Grill! It was one of the first restaurants we discovered after buying a house in Austin Brook Subdivision. The music really is great. We always take our family and friends who come to visit us from our previous hometown in Ridgeland, MS here to eat and enjoy the atmosphere and the food. We take our grands here and they love it!!! We vacationed in Fairhope, and it rained two of the days we were there, but once we found Old 27 Grill nothing was able to ruin our time! Love the new menu! I was fortunate to meet the wonderful owner who was so gracious and sat with us for a moment to tell us all about his restaurant and the unique process they use in creating their soon-to-be world famous Bill-E's Bacon. We tried the new sampler appetizer and it was fantastic. The burgers are the not-so hidden gem here in my opinion. My family loved the unique setting and vibe and the live music added to the overall ambience. Definitely worth checking out. Our server was attentive and all our meals were correct the first time - help can be challenging as we all know but no problems this visit. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in the area. $40.00 for a shrimp sandwich and a hot dog.. We ordered our food. The server came back about 5 mins later and told us they were out of rid eye.. We ordered the side salad for $2.00 with our steak. Since they were out of steak they should have taken the salad off but they sent it to our table and charged us $8.00 for them. Since they were out of rib eye the ticket was trashed along with the rest of the order, except the salad. We then ordered the shrimp sandwich and a hot dog. To the tune of $40.00. The other guests with us had to wait on their food since the order was thrown away. Oh.. $3.50 for a root beer.. It was good but not worth the price. I visited this place for the second time in about a month. Service was not good the first time. Worst the second time. Walked in about 8:25pm and sat at a table. Waited for about 10 minutes and no one came to my table. There were only 2 other tables with customers. Never saw a server. Got up and left. The burgers and food is nice but you guys should adjust the timing for your Blended burgers!! This is the third one that has come out rare after two previous failed attempts. We love you guys and your restaurant but please, fix the timing you cook some of the burgers with so that way you don't have customers coming there a bunch of times leaving with the same thing they complained about. Gah! Old 27, for me, is like a blind date that was amazing but it should have ended there. Instead, I kept holding on to the crap in hopes I would have another awesome experience like the first time. So many old,vintage, farmhouse decorations with games to play. We couldn't wait to bring all of our friends and out of town family to this hidden gem. It was my first time having anything pimento. (I'm from the north)My grilled pimento sandwich was so delicious. A week later, hubs and I took our friends who had never been. I was sure to let everyone know to look up the menu online so we could order as soon as we got there as I was having pimento withdraws.... When our server brought our meals he didn't have mine, I assumed he ran back to get it because he didn't ask us if we needed anything. 10 minutes later he came back (smelling of cigarettes) and asked us how we were doing. I told him I never got my meal (that I was craving !) his response "what did you order?" After watching everyone complete their meals I received mine. My girlfriend hung out with me while our guys played corn hole. Our server apologized and asked us if we had tried a new type of vodka. Thinking he was going to give us a courtesy drink we acted interested. He went us to tell us he did a few shots before his shift and he can't wait to share the rest with his date that he met on Tinder.... Last week my mother in law was in town. Apparently, we made a big deal of this place back in February and she wanted to try it. On this night,there were two very talented 16 year old ladies playing the guitar and singing for everyone. Thank God for this nice entertainment because service was really slow. We had to ask random servers to take our drink order, meal order and for refills. Hubbs and his mom loved their fish sammies but my grilled pimento cheese was a bit soggy and cold. Yesterday, our friends wanted to try Old 27. I was sure to tell everyone to make time for this place as service is slow but the food is worth it. I was correct about the first part. 3 of us got my favorite. It was a joke! They put the butter on the bread and totally forgot to grill it. It was COLD. We all asked our server if she could simply throw it in the microwave. She was gone for about 10 minutes and another girl brought back our plates. Sandwiches were still cold and now the fries were cold. No one came to check on us so I went up to the kitchen window with my plate and asked the line cooks (all of which had long hair,pulled back,but no hair nets) if they could throw my plate in the microwave. One of the servers asked me if everything was okay and I told her all of our "grilled" sandwiches were still cold. She apologized and removed them from our bill. Still, no one checked on us. We tip at least 20% and enjoy beer with our meals. This place could have made so much more money off of us but we're DONE. read more
