I had high hopes in finding a local jeweler but was quickly disappointed by the customer service and quality that I received. I had inherited my grandmother's engagement ring so wanted to make it into a timeless necklace that I could wear everyday. During this first meeting, I had also discussed a custom Emerald ring that I was interested in and I was promised a quote in which I never received. 1. The first time I came to pick up the necklace, the diamond sat in a weird way so I asked to have it fixed. 2. When I came back to pick up the fixed necklace, the issue was not resolved and I also had to point out poor craftsmanship that was obvious to the naked eye. Steve told me that he was embarrassed by the work and he would redo it. I don't understand how you hand a customer work you are embarrassed by, but maybe that's just me. 3. I ended up changing the chain that had been suggested due to it looking too dainty. While changing it, I had asked that they appraise the diamond so that I could have it insured. When I picked up the final necklace, the appraisal was not ready and I would not be surprised if I never receive it. Needless to say, I will be returning to my jeweler in Philly for now on. read more

I purchased an anniversary gift for my wife at billig.. I mentioned to the associate that I would need the engraving done by a certain date and she assured me that it wouldn't be a problem. Two days later I recieve a call from the owner claiming that the associate was mistaken and that it wouldn't be completed by the time I was originally told. I said fine, I was forced to present the unfinished gift to my wife and explain to her there was a miscommunication and we would get it engraved when we got back from our weekend trip. I drop it off the day we return, I was then promised 3 more days. Three days later I call and im told the engraver is out sick all week and to give them just a few more days and they will update me as the time goes on. Not surprised at this point that they're not communicating with me what so ever and I feel like I'm on their back burner. I give them an additional week before going into the store during closing hour to find out the piece was done and they weren't even going to call me when it was finished. Absolutely going to find a new jeweler after this experience. read more

I needed 2 new watch batteries. I stopped into Billig and was greeted by the owner, Rick. What a nice guy. He offered to clean my rings while I waited and I left my watches for battery replacement. Today I picked up the watches and he wouldn't charge me. What a huge surprise. While chatting with him I admired the GORGEOUS jewelry in the cases. I took my wedding ring to get the head swapped out and both ring and wedding band re-dipped in rhodium because it's white gold. I was told it would take them from Saturday when I dropped it off until at the LATEST Friday but that "it should definitely be before then." My husband called Friday when we had not heard anything and they said the head had not even been ordered yet/come in. And that it would not come in until at least Monday if not later. (A simply call to us would have informed us and prevented our frustration from the start!) So they called Tuesday for me to pick it up (acting as if they had pulled favors to get it done--mind you 4 days late from the original due date) When I went to get my wedding ring I dropped off my band to get it dipped (this process takes maybe 45 minutes-1 hour... and that is being generous) and they said two days. So I said ok. It's now the second day and my husband JUST called them. They told him that it wouldn't be ready until tomorrow. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. They have had my wedding band for over 20 business hours and haven't been able to DIP IT IN RHODIUM AND POLISH IT. My husband has used them in the past and what is why we went to them over other jewelers. There is one younger lady there who is EXTREMELY sweet and kind, and I feel sorry for her. Their work might be good and their rings might be pretty but their service is HORRIBLE. read more

I really love this place. My engagement ring's band has twists in it and my setting is raised so I needed a band that would fit my ring, but would also look great if I wore it alone. I was having a lot of trouble finding what I wanted at other places because I was very particular. When I mentioned this, not only did they show me how they would make it, during the process, they even called me again just to make sure they had it just perfect. VERY DISAPPOINTING! We bought my engagement ring at Billig Jewelers. I had nothing but problems. 1. They never resized my ring. When my fiance proposed I had to take it back and get it resized. (It was supposed to be resized for the proposal and it was not) 2. When they resized the ring it was returned to me mis-shapened. 3. After only 2 1/2 months of owning the ring the stone became loose! They "fixed" the ring/stone and reshaped the ring. 4. About 5 weeks later the stone FELL OUT of the setting. Thankfully a friend of mine found the stone on my classroom floor. They had to remake the whole ring. I was told the ring would be remade in 2-3 weeks max. After repeatedly calling Rick and Jill, I was told to be patient. Then, they promised me the ring back after 4 1/2 weeks and when I confirmed that time for pick up I was told it still wasn't ready. I didn't get my ring back until almost 6 weeks later! 5. After I got the ring back I notice a slight difference in the filigree (detailing) on the ring. At that point I was sick of dealing with Billig Jewelers and not having my engagement ring, so we decided to NOT deal with them again. What was supposed to be a happy time in my life was very stressful. With all of the resizing, fixing, and remaking of the ring I would say they had it for a combined time of 2 months. It was embarrassing to just get engaged, have friends and family look forward to seeing my ring and not having it because it was at the jewelers again. We spent close to $14,000 for this ring and didn't appreciate all of the run around and chaos that came with it! read more

I just recently used Billig Jewelers for the first time to get my engagement ring reset. It was a sensitive subject from the get-go since I just got engaged and we had issues with the other setting. I sent an email via their website and didn't hear back but when I called Melissa immediately jumped to action! I was looking at the Danhov rings I found on The Knot. They only have a handful of authorized vendors so I was pleased that Billig was one of them. Melissa was fantastic. I told her all of the styles I was interested in trying on and she ordered in samples of them so that I could try them on in person. I went in and none of those styles worked so she ordered another sample I wanted and it was perfect! I didn't want to be without my ring so they said they could just take the GIA certificate but when they contacted Danhov they preferred to have the diamond to actually set it. I was nervous but Melissa assured me it would be fine. I handed over my ring and Melissa even sent me the tracking number as they sent it to LA. They said 2-3 weeks and in 2 weeks I had my PERFECT! engagement ring back. Rick even humored me and read the laser inscription on my stone so I felt even better. I was surprised to see the negative reviews on Yelp. I guess it is true that people tend to write more reviews when they are dissatisfied than satisfied. I thought all of the staff, Jo, Rick and Melissa were very helpful. They recognized me when I went in and all of the staff had great relationships with the customers that I overheard. People stayed and chatted and one lady came in to drop her rings off to be cleaned; most were greeted by name! I know it is hard to find a jeweler you trust and I am glad to have worked with Billig. I will go back and get my wedding bands from them. Very pleased. read more

My friend and I took my RBC diamond in to find out what I could sell it for.I had taken it to other jewelers in the area.VERY STRANGE person offered me a price.it was way below what I had been offered. After I told him that,he increased his offer by 2100.00 dollars.The new offer was acceptable to me.he then wrote up a receipt detailing everything.Told me to come back in 3 days.(he didn't have the money on hand) An hour before I was scheduled to come back in he called me to tell me not to.He explained he could not get the money.I found this to be extremely questionable.We then set up another time for me to come in,this was 7 days later. At this point I had lost all trust in his word.Something made me feel he wasnt legitimate.So finally saturday comes along and I call before going in to make sure I wasn't wasting my time. It's a go. Okay, this is it,right?? OH NO it's not, When I get there,he is with another customer,I wait a few minutes, then he comes over to me and asks me if he can help me with anything.PRETENDING HE'S NEVER SEEN ME BEFORE!!! i remind him about our transaction,he STILL ACTS AS IF HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!! FINALLY HIS MEMORY KICKS IN.He then tells me he was unable to secure the money!!! Needless to say the deal was never done.what a waste of my time and energy. She did an amazing job designing the ring after we narrowed it down to the one I wanted. I decided to go with a halo, initially with hesitation because I did not want it to overshadow the diamond. After many problems with my wife's engagement ring from another jeweler, we sadly had to return it. We shopped many stores to find another ring and were absolutely thrilled with the selection at Billig. During our first visit my wife couldn't decide between two rings after she narrowed down her favorites from about six!
