Christine is horrible.....JUST KIDDING! She is literally the best person ever and is on par with sliced bread and rose. I needed her for 2 days since my wedding and reception were on different days. I had slightly different updos on both days and they both came out fantastic! The first day was a side part with wave and a simpler bun. The second day was swept back with a more curly/intricate/romantic bun. Both days the up dos lasted thru wind, pictures, toasts, shabu, copious champagne, etc. Even after 16 hours, the updos felt fresh and not a single strand of hair was out of place. I am a recent bride who went to Billion Dollar Hair / Christine for 2 of my events: a formal Indian-Iranian marriage at-home ceremony and a formal outdoor luncheon reception at the Laguna Beach Montage (5 star oceanfront resort). I heard about Christine through a friend at my church. Christine and I chatted a bit before she started making recommendations so that she could understand my style and personality. Structurally, I needed a hairdo on which I could pin and comfortably balance my heavily embellished saree (see photo). The hairdo needed to act as a well-positioned cushion for the extra weight that would be on my head, neck, and shoulders. Christine's experience aided her in determining what I considered my "wedding hair strategy." She worked quickly but didn't take shortcuts. It seemed her every move was efficient and there were no wasted moments of "oh let me just half-panic play around for an extra 5 minutes." I have been to nice salons around the world (Oxford, Shanghai, Dubai, Pebble Beach, Beverly Hills), and what would have taken others a good hour+ took Christine 25 focused minutes. Her deft execution was vital to me personally as I have a tragic habit of running late for my important life events. At the time, I had chin length thick strands of Asian hair, which I always thought was difficult to manipulate. Interestingly, Christine explained to me, I was mistaken. In fact, thicker strands hold curls well, and simply need to be heated at the right temperature then left alone to cool (like cooling wax). She got the science right, and my hairdos for both events lasted into the night. Everyone loved both looks: low large bun and low large side bun. (We added extensions to my short hair increase volume.) Be sure to ask this wizard Christine for tips on the top bobby pin brands as well as other personal styling equipment. She knows a ton about tools and products as she used to work on that side of the industry. She also teaches other hairstylists. If you're already advanced in hair techniques, let your inner "hair nerd" have a field day with Christine. I got married three weeks ago (1/11/14) and had the opportunity to get my hair done by Christine for the big day - which I would say was one of the best decisions I've made regarding my wedding! My appointment with another hair stylist fell through so I had to contact Christine very last minute, just a few weeks before the wedding (I found out about Christine through my make-up artist) but Christine was so understanding and willing to work with my schedule. I didn't have enough time to schedule a trial so I had to trust that she would deliver on the day of, and she totally exceeded my expectations. I looked up several pictures of simple up-do's with a hairpiece (low bun that's not too sleek or tight), and Christine was able to combine different aspects of the picture together to make the perfect look that fits me. I was a little worried because I have very straight, thin and weak hair, and usually when I try to curl or style it, it doesn't stay. But somehow, Christine was able to make my hair stay up in perfect shape throughout the whole night - it still looked great after the wedding even though I danced the night off during the reception. I was also a little worried that I may feel awkward while I'm getting my hair done since I've never met Christine before but she made the whole experience so relaxing and fun. And although we were tight on time, she didn't compromise on my look and was able to produce really great hair with so much speed. Christine was the stylist my girlfriend had booked for her mother & bridal party of six and 'like a billion dollars' is exactly how I would describe the feeling I had after seeing my finished up-do! As a 6th time bridesmaid, I have had my fair share of great, good, and disappointing hair. Christine falls under the great category in my book and here is why: Christine is accommodating. Stylists usually require you to come to them so she received points right off the bat for meeting us across town at our hotel room. The bride was glad to have that option since none of us lived in or was familiar with salons or stylists in the area. We were able to get a little more beauty sleep for the long day ahead and rotate eating breakfast and getting hair & make-up done, which made the morning much less stressful. Christine is efficient. Christine was great at time management and finished all 7 hairdos and a few re-dos within schedule - even with a short power outage in the room! I was researching wedding hair stylists for a while, trying to find someone whose styling didn't look generic, but who was also affordable. My main thing was that I didn't want "prom hair" or a typical updo. I did some research on Yelp and found Billion Dollar Hair. Christine was very responsive and accommodating. I sent her my Pinterest page of hairstyles and we talked through them before my trial. We also talked about my hair type (long, fine, a little natural wave) and she managed to make my mane look so voluminous. We did a deep side part with S-waves. I also had clip-in extensions and a pretty hefty hair pin with lots of embellishments that was heavy. My hair looked fantastic! On my wedding day, she was on time and very friendly with my bridal party. She even curled my flower girl's hair for free, while waiting for my make-up guy to finish!!! This past November, I was invited to a Black and White Ball hosted by our First Lady of Asiya Shrine at the Marriott Hotel in San Mateo. Wanting to look my best, I decided I wanted to have an updo. I looked online for a hairdresser and found on Yelp, Billion Dollar Hair. I left a message for Christine who called me back the next day. I'm using my husband's account to write this since I normally don't write reviews. I was so thrilled with Christine's service though and wanted to give her 5 stars!. I was looking for a stylist to do my hair for my spring wedding and immediately thought of Christine. I'd seen her work before and knew she was great to work with as well. I wanted a simple.elegant (but not boring or stuffy looking) and polished updo that would work with my modern bridal gown and Chinese qi pao. Christine knew what I wanted and sent a bunch of inspiration pics that met my criteria and personality. I chose a soft, tousled updo, which Christine created and tweaked to perfection for me. My hair is pretty flat and thin but Christine gave me great volume that held without making me look like I had helmet hair. On the day of, she also did all of my bridesmaids' hair and even offered to fluff my mom's hair (who opted to do her own hair) in between girls. My sister-in-law also needed a last minute updo which Christine was able create one in 20 min. They all loved her too! The search for the right hair stylist is never easy; especially for an important event such as a wedding. I was searching for a competent and skilled stylist that knew what she was doing. After a brief chat, I decided to do a trial. During the trial, Christine gave me useful insights to what style works and what doesn't. I found a hairstyle that works beautifully with my dress. My wedding was at the Carondelet House in LA. Christine was punctual, a great trait that many professionals these days lack. She was also very efficient and time conscious. My makeup ran long, but Christine worked around it and kept me on schedule. She even managed to squeeze in a last minute styling for my aunt who was not on the schedule. Her willingness to accommodate, coupled with her calm demeanor was refreshing and appreciated. I have shoulder length fine straight hair, and opted for a high tousled bun. I think I have about 3 or 4 total reviews on yelp, and I only write them to publicly thank the person/organization. So this review is more of my way of saying thank you to my lovely hair stylist Christine. She did my hair for my wedding on 2/14/14 at the Smog Shoppe in Los Angeles. I like lists because they are easier to read and write so here we go: 1) I am super particular about my hair like most girls, so I never really got my hair done. The times I've gotten it done, I've been hugely disappointed so even as a bridesmaid in other weddings, I just preferred to curl it myself. 2) For my own wedding, I figured I needed to get it done. I found BDH on yelp and checked her FB page. I liked that she worked on all sorts of different types of hair, I was happy with her prices, so I made a trial appointment. 3) Trial went okay, but after looking at the photos of my hair, I wrote a long explanation (and included photos, notes, and arrows) to Christine of what I liked and didn't like. She took in those remarks and made a few recommendations. Definitely do a trial. And after the trial, be as specific as you can as to what worked and what didnt. I felt kind of bad, but I didnt hold back and I think that helped her understand what I really wanted. It's kind of embarrassing, but I told her things like a) hide my ears because they stick out, 2) I don't want any scalp showing in the back 3) I want my hair to look fuller 4) I wanted game of thrones romantic hair with twists. 4) So needless to say, I loved how my hair turned out. Christine is amazing! I hired her for my wedding without doing a trial and was so beyond happy. Her work was fabulous, each girl had a different hairstyle as well as different types of hair and Christine did a great job with each of them. All of my bridesmaids and my mom loved her! She did styles that fit each of their personalities and looks. Not only did our hair look amazing but the hair styles lasted all night!! Love love love Christine!! She's so professional and best of all such a good sport. Wedding days are always crazy and she knows how to make everyone feel comfortable, heard and most of all sure that everything will be beautiful. Our bridal party had girls that knew exactly what they wanted and girls that had no idea what they wanted. She handled everything so nicely and professionally and was on point with all the up-dos and down-dos. I personally thought I wanted one thing and after quickly showing me what it would look like, realized that it was not the right look. My sister got married two weeks ago and the entire bridal party had their hair styled by Christine. The other bridesmaids had an idea of what style they wanted and she was able to give them exactly what they wanted. I, on the other hand, had no idea what I wanted to do with my hair. Christine just looked at my face shape, got a feel for what I was comfortable with, and worked her magic. I loved what she did with it. She made it look great and last all night. I didn't have to fuss with my hair a single time through the entire night. She was also so friendly and fun to talk to. The whole time I was sitting in the chair, I felt like I was just hanging out with a friend while she was doing my hair. She was prompt and efficient with her time. Christine is a lovely hair stylist! She is very knowledgable in what styles look good in pictures and what hair types can hold well. My friend got married last weekend, and we got our makeup done by Rose Park. Rose actually recommended Christine, so she came to our hotel room (at the heinous time of 7am) to style our hair for the day. I didn't end up getting the hair style that I wanted, but that was because my hair is dark and messy braided styles don't show up in darker hair colors. Even though I didn't get the style I wanted, she was able to take my awkward hair length (and bang length) and make it look beautiful and classy. She has a kind heart and makes the whole process of getting ready--that is usually entirely stressful--really fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend her :) read more

Absolutely amazing! Christine was able to do 7 bridesmaids's hair and the bride in a single morning. ALL of our hair looked amazing and she finished on time. She is efficient and works well under pressure, yet one would think she spent several hours on each of us because the end result is amazing. SHE IS THAT GOOD. I am SO happy that I had the opportunity to meet Christine! I was fortunate to have a friend who was in a wedding as a bridesmaid and had her hair styled by Christine, who then recommend her to me since I was looking into hair stylists for my sister's wedding. From the get go she was so personable, and you could tell she really knew her stuff. She gave her professional advice and honest opinion which I appreciate. So, if you are unsure of what you want, I'm confident that Christine will make your abstract ideas into a reality! My sister was not the type of bride that had inspirational pictures or a concrete idea of what she wanted. However, based off the very vague description my sister gave Christine, she was able to really deliver. The week of the wedding, I went with my sister to her trial and thought her hair looked beautiful... but on the actual wedding day, she somehow took it up another notch. Christine styled my sister's hair for her wedding, 5 bridesmaids, and two moms (one of which is my mom, who can be particularly hard to please... and even she loved her own hair style and all the others). She was very efficient and calm throughout the whole morning, and at one point, even ahead of schedule. It made the whole process of getting ready and prepping so easy, and immediately put everyone at ease. She is very easy to talk to, and time flew by as she styled my hair. Before I knew it she was done, and I was VERY happy with the outcome. My sister's wedding was outdoors and of all days, it was HOT. While taking bridal party photos outdoors, our hair stayed put as we romped around, and it lasted all night. My sister and all of the bridesmaids received many compliments on our hair throughout the whole day. As far as I'm concerned, I've found my go-to hair stylist in OC/LA area. I was so lucky to find Christine through yelp! I was being honored by the Culver City Education Foundation at their annual formal Tribute to the Stars event at Sony Pictures. I knew I wanted to have my hair done, but I had procrastinated. I contacted Christine in a little bit of a panic the day before the event, and luckily she was able to accommodate me. I told her exactly what I wanted over the phone--a soft, elegant updo. We scheduled a time for the next day, and she sent me an email confirmation with all the details. Christine arrived at my house on time on a Saturday. She worked quickly, but she was thorough and detail oriented. I really like that she asked me questions to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. She thought of so many things I would have never thought about and asked to see my dress and shoes prior to starting. She brought all of her own supplies, so I didn't have to worry about anything. I was completely relaxed while she worked on my hair (45 minutes). As soon as she finished, I was able to slip into my dress, freshen up my makeup and go straight to the event. I loved my hair and felt so beautiful. I was at the event for 7 hours, and my hair still looked amazing after I got home--it didn't fallout or come undone. Christine is kind and caring. She talks to you about your event and what you envision for your hair style. She discusses ideas about styles, based on what you will be doing on your special day. She has this incredible calm, positive enthusiasm that lets you know you are in good hands. Christine is a professional and an artist! The morning of my wedding, my two grand-daughters (3 and 6 years), and I saw Christine and got softly curled hair-dos that looked touchable and beautiful from morning until bed time. A few days later she texted to ask about my day, and let me know that I had forgotten some barrettes at her shop. Very thoughtful! I loved LOVED LOVED (did I mention LOVED?) my hair that Christine did for me and my baby girl! I'm a new mom and my 3-month old daughter has an unbelievable amount of hair, so I wanted to get something special done for the both of us for her baek-il (Korean 100 day celebration). For my daughter, Christine did a simple sweep and bow, which was cute and sweet. For me, I wanted a casual ponytail that I found on her Pinterest page of Lauren Conrad (http://pinterest.com/pin/564216659536530881/). Christine explained to me that my hair may not turn out exactly like LC's (because of texture, color, length, etc.), but it came SUPERCLOSE and she gave me my own tutorial, so I would know how to do it on my own. The whole process took a little over an hour, while we were chatting away and I loved how Christine let me practice making my own curls with the curling iron. I was able to learn a couple of hairstyles that morning! :) Everything about that day was so great and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Overall, I loved how the hair turned out for both of us.
