I took my family out to breakfast this morning, and usually frequent the Alameda location, but my son made me aware the Newbury location is closer to us. I love having breakfast at Bill's Cafe. Unfortunately, this location is not the same experience as the two other locations I've tried. The hostess told us they had no tables, and we could sit at the bar. My daughter stated she would rather be seated at a table, and we could wait. Three customers were walking past us, and the hostess said we could have their table. We were immediately seated in a booth, and we noticed there were at least five empty tables around us, peculiar. Whatever, we had time to look and decide what we each wanted. When our waiter came for our orders, he was quick and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and drinks to arrive. We generally liked our food, but the country potatoes were a little too firm, and seemed like they weren't cooked all the way through. We had to wait awhile for refills on our drinks. We caught the hostess walking by, and asked if we could get refills and napkins. She said okay, but brought only napkins, and we waited some more for refills on coffee and water. The hostess seemed a bit brusque, on the other hand our waiter was, quick and professional. I appreciate how to service has been consistent. I love the classic brunch options here--omelets, pancakes, and eggs benedict are always great choices. The pancakes were massive and the bread pudding French toast was top tier. If you're feeling a little extra, the menu has a fun mix of American and Southern fusion. The atmosphere is lively and time flies when you're there. It can get a bit noisy at times. The only downside for me were the hash browns. We come to this location a lot, it is under some apartment buildings and you can find the parking under neath the apartments or on side streets. My boyfriend loves the steak and eggs and they give you a pretty big size steak here which is nice! I tried their seasonal omelette which was described as 4 eggs with ham, chicken, and cheese with hollondaise sauce on top. The hollondaise sauce on top of the omelette was perfect, I loved this omelette! Always use the pepper plant sauce for an added flavor and spice! Date of event: 5/16/26 7:35am I ordered food from here and went to pick it up. I waited about 10 minutes even though I was the only person there at first. The first few minutes, more people came in, and the employee with two braids asked the new customers if they needed help but completely ignored me. I kept waiting, and another employee came out to help the other customers too. When I finally told them that I was waiting for an order, the employee with the braids grabbed my order, asked for the last name, and left it on the counter instead of handing it to me directly. I had to reach over the post to get it myself. She immediately just set it down and walked off. At the same time, another customer picking up a Grubhub order had their order handed to them politely. Not to mention that my food was sitting at the bar the entire time and I could have gone home earlier... I understand it was early in the morning, but the experience really ruined my mood in that moment. I love this place, but lately the customer service has been getting worse. We have been coming to this location for almost 10 years, the food is great, they used to have WIFI for guests, and we just noticed they don't provide it anymore, when we asked kindly if they have any WIFI for the guest because we did not have any phone service, the lady in the front entrance that is the one that takes you to the tables told me "we don't have WIFI for guest" and I told her you guys did before and she said "Well not anymore" with an attitude. There is some street parking on the adjacent street but none in front of the restaurant. Corned Beef Hash and Eggs: served with two eggs, choice of hash browns or country potatoes and choice of toast. I got my eggs poached and they were perfect, soft and runny. Everything else was decent and typical standard fare. They had Pepperplant Hot sauce - yum! The decor was typical of a Bill's Cafe. Don't worry its open. A huge variety of food items, but my heart is set on finding the best Egg Benedict. Sadly this isn't the one. Don't get me wrong it is good.
