First impression: Interior's grey and depressing. I got a cafe de olla & a huevos rancheros (with steak, +$5.99). Bf got a chilaquiles, can't remember which one. I appreciated that swapping out the hash browns or country potatoes side for fresh fruit was not an upcharge. Fruit was reasonably fresh, tho there was 1 bad pineapple piece. Hash browns crispy on the outside but too mushy inside. I really enjoyed the beans for some reason...much better than most places. Generous portions. I ordered the steak medium and it came out perfect. Somewhat chewy, but that's how I like my steak. Service was overall attentive & good -- a tad slow at times, but that's to be expected with 1 waitress covering the entire dining room. I'd come here again. read more

I enjoyed the Chile Colorado dish, which came with two eggs over easy and hash browns. The beans were not from a can, probably the tastiest/creamiest I have ever tasted. The chile colorado was perfectly spicy and packed with all the desired richness. I didn't have any toast but noted for reference plenty of options for jam, including orange marmalade and strawberry. I am not a fan of Grape. The ambiance is old-school diner with Motown in the background. Despite the old diner feel, everything was immaculate. I'll be back to try the Chile Verde next. This place is located on a corner of a street and has simple vibe on the inside, yet they have a wide variety of dishes to choose from! I got the Carnitas Skillet and my boyfriend got the New York Steak and Eggs. I loved the carnitas skillet, it came with country potatoes, carnitas, eggs, avocado, veggies, and toast. The steak and eggs were cooked to exactly how requested and the steak was one of the biggest piece of steaks we have gotten from a breakfast spot. We got inside of hollandaise sauce to dip everything into which I thought leveled everything up! The service was very nice and friendly, the food was great and loved the variety! When there's Mexican breakfast, huevos rancheros are my go-to. These were excellent. The perfectly seasoned country potatoes, the big pile of homemade frijoles, the homemade ranchero sauce, the generous topping of queso fresco. SO GOOD. My partner is Mexican American thought the red sauce on his chilaquiles was just like Las Palmas and a bit too hot for this dish (and he loves spicy food). As for the kids, the French toast was a big hit and the breakfast burrito was okay. But everyone agreed we're eager to return soon. Would love to see the interior brightened up with a bit of color instead of gray walls, but otherwise everything was clean and welcoming. Great local spot -- hope they stick around! read more

This area really needed a place with hearty burgers, stacked sandwiches, and a huge breakfast menu and this place is it! We had fantastic service and the food hit the spot. I ordered the Alpuculo Turkey Sandwich with garlic fries a big, flavorful sandwich that left me happily full (so much so, no dinner needed later ). My husband had the Breakfast Burrito another large, satisfying meal that he loved. We also treated ourselves to cranberry mimosas so good! If I could suggest anything, it would be to: Add "Lunch" to the signage menu (since they're open all day). Lean into the brunch crowd, maybe offer a carafe option for tables. This is a brand new family owned place that just opened a month ago. The food is top notch and this might be one of the best omelettes I have ever had. It was overstuffed and very good! The eggs were not overcooked like so many others! The service was good with the server being attentive and kind! My only mild complaint was that he did disappear a couple times and I didn't get silverware right away, however that barely inconvenienced me and I will chalk it up to just being new. The restaurant space is very open but it's obviously new so they haven't really gotten to decorate fully. I look forward to it being here for years to come and for the place to really become their own. I'm really impressed with Reyes Café and Grill. That location has had a couple of iffy tenants. There hasn't been a good restaurant there since Casa Vicky. I've tried both their Chili Colorado (which they serve the meat as ribs and not the traditional cubes) and their Chili Verde and both are very good. Their refried beans are not the typical puréed beans that leave you with a homogeneous pile of you know what but are a delicious combination of whole beans and beans that are puréed. Oh and don't expect to walk away hungry as their portions are seriously large. The only downside to Reyes's Café and Grill as they don't make their own tortillas(or chips) like Casa Vicky used to do. But their tortillas are still very good. Just not homemade. Also their salsa is fairly mediocre. Still, it is a very good Mexican restaurant and though I have had only a couple of dishes so far ... the two that I've had were both excellent. read more

This is now a nice and relaxing place to have a meal with friends or by yourself. Very fresh tasting food but would prefer more varied, robust flavors. It's Americanized so a little on the bland side. This is better all-around than nearby Hobee's for brunch/lunch. Stars are mostly for the sweet and skilled family staff! Bravo to them for swooping in and quickly reinvigorating this neighborhood landmark restaurant. Never saw it this clean and welcoming until now. Appreciate the new coats of paint. They're still working out their menu and they welcome feedback. Miss the homemade tortillas and tortilla machine from the previous establishments but am looking forward to trying more of their menu items. read more

I have lived in downtown for years and have seen several reincarnations at the location of this business. This is the first one I can honestly say NEEDS to stay! My first visit was their first week in business, when the menu was still a work in progress. My server was one of the owners, and was interested in hearing what I and other people in the neighborhood wanted/liked/needed. Service was awesome, the food was delicious . . . so I went back. And then I went back again and again (and again!). Food has been consistently great, as has the service. Today when out and about walking my our dog my partner and I stopped in at 2:45 pm. We sat on the patio (reference the dog), and were immediately offered water for both us and the dog. As we ordered we realized that they close at 3, so we offered our apologies and offered to leave. We were assured they had plenty to do at the end of the day, and they were here to serve us. We had a lovely experience--quick and attentive service for us and our dog, great food, and no rushing in spite of their impending close. This is an AWESOME neighborhood gem. Hands down the best omelet I've ever had and beautiful mis en place that you would expect from a restaurant with at least 2 Michelin stars.
