I stopped by Grace's Deli today on my way to the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts for a quick bite to eat and I'm so glad I did. You have the ability to order at a kiosk or at the counter. I opted for the kiosk. Since I entered my phone number on my order, I received updates via text message to let me know the progress of my order. I thought that was neat. I ordered the Tuna AVO Melt, a panini-style sandwich that was absolutely delicious. It came out hot, which I really appreciated since so many "hot" sandwiches are just warm. This one was actually hot and fresh. Loved! The tuna salad was flavorful and satisfying, the avocado was perfectly soft and there was a good amount of it. The sandwich came together so well with the melted cheddar cheese. The service itself was good. I didn't have too much interaction from the staff, besides, when I picked up the order. It was quite busy in there, but nevertheless, our order was fulfilled promptly. Grace's Deli feels like a little gem, and with its convenient location just across the street from the performing arts center, this will be my new go to stop whenever I am heading to a matinee show. Stopped by this little cafe off Almaden right across the street from the Civic Center for a quick bite and coffee. Nothing special that stood out. Got an iced coffee and a bagel. People were friendly and the service was ok. The bagel was good with lots of cream cheese. Overall good cafe to check out if you're down town in San Jose. read more

Found this place just looking for something different downtown for breakfast. They seem to be known for their sandwiches so I tired the breakfast sandwiches. It was pretty good and got an ice coffee. This deli is located across the street from Hilton hotel and was recommended by my colleagues in the area. We stopped there for breakfast. Grace deli is the best deli. Period. I've been coming here for years, was a regular before Covid. I love this place, and the family who owns it are great people. They have kept the same staff through thick and thin (covid hit them hard), which is admirable and also explains the consistently great foods. Never disappoints. My wife found this place after taking our daughter to the children's discovery museum. We are super lucky we spotted it because I don't think I've had a better panini anywhere in San Jose. I ordered the breakfast burrito with egg whites, turkey, and avocado. It also comes with salsa on the side. The size was pretty good, not super huge or anything, but it sure was thick! The tortilla was a bit soggy, but no complaints otherwise. There was lots of cheese and avocado. A LOT of egg whites packed in there. The turkey was a little salty, but added a lot of flavor. Had lunch their when I was in town. They've got a terrific menu. It was easy to find and perfectly placed near our hotel and the WeWork office. I had the Southwest Chicken Salad, with a vinaigrette dressing - it was a bit too vinegar-ey for me but overall tasty. If you are reading this and happen to be at the San Jose Convention Center (or at the Hilton), come here for breakfast or lunch! My group had breakfast burritos and they were fresh, hearty and cheesy - and yes, you will have a cheese pull! We were so pleasantly surprised, especially with how affordable this cafe is compared to other nearby eateries. Two thumbs up for the chorizo and the super special breakfast burritos. The service is super friendly and welcoming as well. The cafe is pretty spacious and offers a nice break from the downtown environment or if you've been walking miles during a convention. Haven't had the sandwiches yet but would probably come back for one as they also look tasty. Forget the Convention Center food, come here for a tasty quick meal! This is by far not a hole in the wall. I'm from NY and I know a hole in wall spot. Food is expensive in the Bay area. More so than in the NYC / NJ Tri-state areas. I stopped by here somewhat early on this past Friday morning with my coworker for breakfast. We were looking for somewhere with a hot breakfast and Grace Deli happened to be right across the street from where we're staying. It's a smallish shop on W San Carlos Street right across the street from the Hilton and convention center. The inside of Grace has a place to order you food, some coolers and plenty of seating. The walls are covered in some old school looking posters and mirrors. For breakfast on this day I decided to go with the super burrito. The menu said it consisted of All-natural scrambled eggs, mild cheddar cheese melted, ham, bacon, avocado, potato and it also came with a side of salsa. Whenever it came to the table I noticed it was a somewhat small burrito but whenever I picked it was heavy which was I found to be a good thing. The burrito itself ended up being quite tasty and I loved how crispy the bacon was and that the avocado provided a nice texture contrast in addition to its flavor. Actually everything about it was pretty good and the salsa on the side even provided some needed acidity to the dish. Whenever I had finished my burrito I was full and satisfied. The best part about it? You can get the super burrito for $4.99. My coworker and I were actually debating how they could even make money selling it for that price.
