Wow this place sets the standard for bbq amazing meats and sauces. The greens go above and beyond what I expected. A little gem of bbq spots for sure.

Brisket, burnt ends, collard greens, corn bread
Samantha Z.

What a solid spot! It definitely hit a craving for amazingly tasty meat. Brisket: 10/10 the texture couldn't have been better! They have three options, fatty, lean, or mixed. The mixed brisket was perfect and the meat was not tough whatsoever. The fat lent juiciness to each bite. This brisket was the perfect vehicle for the BBQ sauces on the table and it was super fun mixing and matching the different flavors. I do wish it had a bit more flavor on its own though, like just a little touch more salt and pepper would've perfected this! Burnt ends : 10/10!!! OMG this was heaven!! The pork belly was perfectly charred and coated in this amazing sweet glaze that kind of reminded me a bit of charsiu, but even better! It's almost dessert-like in its carmelization, lending a new spin on sweet and savory. You definitely have to try this fresh! Collard Greens: 6/10 They were alright, nothing special. Corn bread: 6/10 Almost sponge bread-like in texture. Not too sweet. Price: A 2 meat combo for $30 is a bit much. I wish they had better valued lunch deals. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance : 7/10 normal nothing special[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service: 10/10 consistently checked on us to make sure we were okay, and gave us extra plates to share without us having to ask! plus the free soda refills are great!

Ribs, pulled pork, sliced briskets Side of rice and coleslaw.

We came to celebrate our anniversary and wanted a bbq joint and happen to chance this place for lunch. They use fresh woods to grill their meats in the back, which i was excited to see as I walked inside. We were greeted upon arrival and sat at their many booth tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The simple wall portraits, the front counter, and southern music brought a southern accent to the restaurant which added to their charm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They promptly tended to our orders and customers started trinkling in for the next 30 min. We ordered the classic beef ribs, pulled pork, and sliced briskets with a side of coleslaw and rice. We were excited to try their many sauces at the table. They had a mustard sauce that paired nicely with the brisket and pulled pork. The sweet, honey bbq and the spicy bbq paired nicely with the ribs. Only let down was the meats didnt have enough of that wood-smoked taste i was hoping for. Additionally, the coleslaw was was bland and the taste and consistency to it, so probably would skip it next time. Other than that, I wouldnt mind coming back to try more off their menu. :)

I'm pretty sure this is the original location. I haven't been here in 15 years at least. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place could definitely use a facelift.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was excellent and our server was really nice and friendly, but that's basically it. Somehow I remembered they had much better quality. The food was mediocre at best, for 3 people with tip we paid $85. Their fries were good, portions were small. When you have other bbq places in the city, you can choose elsewhere.

Came into this dining experience with zero expectations as a vegetarian, but it blew me away. I noticed that had a jackfruit Sammy on the menu, not something I saw online, so I ordered that with a side salad and ranch. They make their own ranch, which is a plus. The Sammy was so flavorful! I added pickles because why not and wasn't overly full with the salad. So ofc I had room for banana pudding. Ugh, so good. Perfectly creamy and just enough banana. My partner really enjoyed his meal too (see photos). We've been to Texas a few times and this bbq was a good competitor in his opinion. Love all of their bbq sauces too. Service was the cherry on top. A nice kid was on it! He checked in to see how I liked the Sammy because it is a new menu item! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside is rustic and clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Some vegetarian options, but you only need the jackfruit Sammy IMO. [[HIGHLIGHT]]No pet friendly patio.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Best BBQ spots ever. I've been here a few times and they never disappoint. The corn bread is fluffy and flavorful. The Mac and cheese is one of the best I've had, it had little pieces of pulled pork, however you can order without, but recommend it with the pulled pork, so delicious. The beans were great as well. The meat options are all great as well. This time around we went with ribs and they were so tender they came off the bones. The brisket was great as well. Do not fear whatever you order here you will love. Also don't forget to try their sauces they have a variety of 5 different sauces. Our server was Mary and was amazing, she was attentive and helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you plan to dine in there are plenty of seats however could get busy around lunch time however they do serve the food in a timely manner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do also offer take out as well. Highly recommend this place if you want some good BBQ.

Beef tips, Hotlink, corn bread & BBQ sauce.

The hubby tonight wanted BBQ for dinner after going to Topgolf so we looked up BBQ places on Yelp & seen Clara's Junction & was going to go there. However, they were closed so we went to The Smoking Pig. 1st... [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance is VERY outdated. And the area of the restaurant doesn't look the safest.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 2nd... the food wasn't all that great. My brisket was served to me, cold. The hot link I got was overcooked & dry. My husband's beef tips were ok & his hot link was ok. Our waitress was good & our food came out quite fast. However, I can't in good conscience recommend the place. I wish Clara's had been open & the hubby wanted something else, other than BBQ. I've had better BBQ in Gilroy at BBQ 152. Maybe today was an off day... but, it's not a place I'd go to again.

Two meat combo with chicken and brisket which comes with baked beans and cornbread
Brenda D.

My son and I stopped by Smoking Pig since I hadn't been there for several years. I was so hungry, I wasn't sure what I wanted so I decided on the two-meat combo with chicken and brisket which comes with baked beans and cornbread. When he took my order, he asked if I wanted my brisket lean, fatty or both and I said I want it fatty. You know that's where the flavor comes from! I don't eat a lot of beef so I wanted to splurge. The quarter chicken was a pretty good size and the brisket I thought oh kind of on the smaller portion size but the taste made up for it. Oh my gosh it was so yummy...that fat! It was so tender! The chicken had a really nice smoky flavor and it was not dry. Considering we came in an hour before they closed, that definitely was not an issue. They have four different sauces, but I really liked the classic BBQ sauce. The beans were smoking and the cornbread was pretty good. Service was great and hey're very friendly. They checked on us often. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had jazz music playing which was really cool.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Ribs!!! Out of all the bbq places I've gone to, the serving and preparation of their ribs will be my go to. The 1/2 rib rack meal is definitely worth it. It includes three smaller sized ribs and 3 larger sized ribs. Probably enough to serve 2 people. My parter ordered the combo platter with beef brisket and chicken leg quarter. Brisket was juicy and tender and the chicken leg was huge. If it's busy- you'll probably have to wait a good min for your servers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is a hole in the wall type of vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Overall, great portion, flavor and sauce choices.

Two-Meat Combo with Southern Greens and Cornbread!
Jason H.

Great experience tonight! Happy, friendly, fast service. Brisket was outstanding! Ribs were tender with plenty of meat to devour (with some fat for flavor.) Fries were hot and crispy. Cornbread to die for, but on the smallish side. Key Lime pie was a nice finish, but again on the smallish side. Still my go-to joint for BBQ.

Decent barbecue, especially the brisket, with serviceable sides. Stopped in here for dinner during a business trip and decided to try the ribs and brisket along with an appetizer sampler including the potato skins, burnt ends, and pulled pork nachos. I enjoyed the burnt ends tossed in the California honey sauce - they were juicy and fatty and just what I was hoping for. I was glad they didn't skimp or overcook their ends like some other joints do. The brisket was also relatively tender and not overly done, although my pieces weren't as fatty as I'd hoped. The ribs were HUGE and the seasonings were tasty, but I thought the meat was overcooked and a little dried out. I also didn't realize the ribs didn't come sauced, so I only had the Carolina sauce in to-go containers and it did not pair well. On the bright side, I was pleasantly surprised at the generous portions for to-go orders of the potato skins and nachos. I was definitely filled up! Unfortunately, the customer service experience wasn't the greatest. I was traveling for work so placed my order online a few hours ahead of time so that I could eat after driving for a few hours. I arrived approximately 15-20 minutes after my pickup time and had to wait another 15 minutes while they were "putting my order together." That was somewhat disappointing and I wish could have been executed better. Definitely recommend ordering extra sauces with the ribs and coming on an empty stomach!

Tough leathery burnt ends were

Wow has the quality dropped significantly in this once awesome BBQ restaurant. Ordered Combo #1. The burnt ends were tough as rubber. Beef jerky is easier to chew! The potato salad was Bland with a capital "B." They got my friends order wrong and while he also received the burnt ends , his were of the same poor quality. Not sure if this is new ownership, but after years of visiting and dozens of meals, we're not going back after the experience today

Happy to discover smoking pig bbq. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It seemed a little underwhelming when I first walked in as it didn't seem too busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was ample seating and plenty of space to accommodate large groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was super nice and on top of everything. I ended up getting the bbq burger which was delicious. My friends for the bbq platter and all of them said the meats were delicious. I got a peanut butter pie for dessert which was good but you can only eat a couple bites of it as it is on the sweeter side

How much are burnt ends and are they glazed/seasoned with rub?

Not sure about the price but they are both seasoned and glazed. They are very "wet" and tasty.

Is there a 18% gratuity automatically add in the bill when serves for 2 people only around 3:30 pm?

That's not correct they can only add in tip if there's more than 8 people. Perhaps they changed their tipping policy? Any signs stating that? You can take receipt and question charge with eatery manager? You can always question any charge on…

Has anyone else had an experience with the ghost of a 5 year old girl wearing a gold dress? I did, and the staff confirmed her presence when I told them. I wonder why she is there...

Bro what

How long are the pork ribs smoked for in the smoker?

The menu on their web site says 12 hours for the pulled pork and 16 for the brisket. They don't serve beef ribs unfortunately.

For the vegetarians, try their jackfruit "pulled pork" bowl! Also their desserts selection is amazing. Will have to come back to try their peach cobbler and lemon pie!

The location that we went to is located next to Maggiano's Little Italy in Santana Row on Olin Ave. There is a free 2 hour parking structure across of the restaurant where my boyfriend and I parked at. We came during their Lunch Specials (until 4pm) and Happy Hour (from 3-5:30pm) which worked perfectly as we wanted something smaller in portion compared to the dinner portions. We started off with drinks. I got their Pig Ol' Bitties Blonde Ale, and my boyfriend got their Friday Beer & Shot special of This Little Piggy Went to [Mark]et with a 16 oz Dirty Little Pig IPA and a shot of Benchmark whiskey. My fault for having him get a whiskey shot on an empty stomach, though HAHA. He did like how smooth the whiskey was at least! We shared a 2-meat BBQ Lunch Combo Plate, and honestly, we should have gotten 3 meats because of how tender and delicious everything was! We got their Tri Tip and Sliced Brisket with their Garlic Mash and server recommended Sweet Potato Tots. Ahhh, everything was so good! Aside from the tender, flavorful meats, the two sides, especially the garlic mash, were sooooo good. We both loved everything! It was definitely a great choice coming during lunch as we were quite full after ordering one of their happy hour shareables of Chips & Queso (kind of pricey even for happy hour in my opinion for chips and cheese). Honestly wished we got their Chili Cheese Fries or their other fries which were the same price than just chips and dip LOL. But it was a good hold over food with us drinking a bit (at least for me). Shoutout to the only server who was working on a late Friday afternoon as she was doing her best to accommodate everyone + trying to clean up the previous tables. It was kind of sad seeing that the other workers didn't help bus the tables in my opinion. Overall, a great place to watch sports and have some good whiskey as this restaurant is known for their whiskey selections! The lunch BBQ exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely come back for another lunch special meal but probably with 3 meats this time!

I've been to 3 others Redwood City BBQ, South Winchester BBQ (San Jose), and Canyon's BBQ (Castro Valley) and I've reviewed most of those quite favorably, except for 1. But they have about 4 others that I haven't been but are on my list. I guess now I'll know they are more the same than they are different. I knew walking in that I was going to like it. A strong aroma of wood smoke hugs you upon entering. A cool mural outside, lots of beers and bbq on the tables, cool tunes that was all over the place genre wise. 2 Meat Combo ($26/4.5*) Crazy solid combo. Not as juicy as I would prefer but between the perfect smoke content and their seasoning just makes me happy enough. Brisket: Their brisket is awesome. Not as juicy as some of the top notch places here in the Bay, but the flavor was perfect for me. Assertive smokiness without being overbearing. Get a piece with a good layer of fat and it was basically hearty beef bacon. I rarely put sauce on brisket but theirs is not bad, maybe just a dot or 2. Ribs: Also drier than what I like but the flavor and meaty texture was enough for me. Definitely have to pull these off the bone a bit, does not easily fall off, which I actually prefer. I like toothsome versus mushy meat. These ribs do have a layer of bbq sauce cooked into them, so it has a sweet and tangy flavor already in it. But they still can accept extra sauce, as it will not only moisten the ribs further but it will amp up the tang and sweetness that pork ribs are natural for. Tried 2 sides, beans and coleslaw. The beans aren't the super sweet kind, which I liked. More chili-like very hearty and complimenting to the smoky bbq. The slaw was perfect, crisp with a creamy yet slightly sweet dressing. Crazy good, I could actually eat their sides alone as a meal. Their corn bread here is strange. It is cooked in a sheetpan and cut into squares much like a brownie. But that square is then griddled til golden brown so I totally thought it was garlic bread at first. The other bbq spots I tried from this same company didn't make corn bread like that, so this was a first for me. Probably the only miss for me here. Also tried a half pound of Tri Tip ($20/4*) Very meaty that they were able to keep it a nice pink medium, which I like. But much milder in smoke than their brisket and ribs. I ended up making sandwiches with these at home. They are sliced pretty thick so you may have to slice some of them further. It bites easier in thinner slices versus monster thick slices that will pull out of the bread with each bite. I learned that on this out so just throwing out a tip. A solid bbq throwdown with a cold frosty one, plus lots of leftovers for work lunches the next few days, is just an out I can repeat over and over. Glad I found this spot!

Yes they add hella chillies in here so you have to pick it out, but its hard to find places with a razor clam dish that is super tasty and flavorful The alcoholic drinks here are super unique and interesting, my method is to go for the cutest branding, and just order it, and suprisingly it ends up working in my favor LOL my favorite part, is the seasoning they use on all the skewers! that classic chinese taste :D

At many restaurants, that would be a problem. At Henry's, it becomes a reason to test the rest of the grill. We ordered the Porterhouse and the Sirloin, both medium rare. The Porterhouse was solid: balanced seasoning, clean grill flavor, no unnecessary tricks. A lot of restaurants can do a good Porterhouse because the cut already has drama -- bone, fat, tenderness, presentation. But Sirloin is different. Sirloin exposes the kitchen. Especially that strip of fat running along the edge. If the grill work is careless, that fat becomes chewy, greasy, or wasted. Henry's handled it beautifully. The meat stayed true medium rare, while the fat edge was properly rendered, lightly charred, and full of beef aroma. That is real steakhouse skill. Medium rare lean meat plus properly rendered sirloin fat is not automatic. It takes timing, fire control, and experience. The baked potato was simple and correct. The salad was classic old-school steakhouse style. Dark beer still feels like the right companion here. Henry's is not trying to become trendy. It is not chasing presentation. People come here to eat steak, drink beer, and trust the kitchen. Prime Rib is still the ritual. But this visit proved something important: Henry's is not only a Prime Rib place. The place was busy but the wait did not seem to be long even without reservations. Overall, this is a must return ACE!

Updating my review to add commentary about the catering for a party…read more It was an absolute crowd pleaser! I ordered ribs, brisket, chicken, potato salad, beans, Cole slaw, garden salad, and garlic bread. The favorite was the brisket but they truly loved every bit of it. Very impressed with the packaging and presentation. They were packing it up as I arrived and everything was hot and fresh. The staff were delightful and even helped load everything into my car. The portions were very generous and I felt a good value for the money. We were all very full and happy. Received many comments about how good it was. I will tell anyone looking to cater or serve a crowd to order BBQ Pit. I ordered using their website and it was incredibly easy to do, and appreciated the email confirmations and follow-up.

They also carry cans as well that are not listed and you can just grab it from the fridge and pay at the register. There is a good amount of seating inside and there are a few tables outside as well. I ordered my stout and i let it sit as the foam settled and realized that the pour did not fill up the glass. I let the staff know and they fixed the issue by topping off my drink. The staff are very friendly and understanding. During my first visit, we ordered the ribs and brisket as well as a tri tip salad. The brisket was very tender and juicy. I usually avoid ordering briskets since most BBQ places in San Jose that I've been to have made them very dry. There was only one piece that wasn't juicy which I expected since it had no fat on it. It was still tender and not dried out. The ribs were also good. It was tender and didn't stick to the bone as much but it wasn't as tender where it just slides off the bone. The seasoning on the ribs was neutral and the BBQ Pit have their own special bbq sauce (regular and spicy) which goes well with the meat. My wife ordered the tri tip salad and she enjoyed it. I stole some of her greens to balance the meat and beer and the veggies were fresh. The salad came with cornbread but I didn't try it. On my second visit, I decided to get the tri tip woith a side of baked potato and coleslaw. The baked potato was $3 extra. The tri tip had really good flavor and texture. It ripped apart easily when pulling. The coleslaw was ok. I might get the mac and cheese or beans next time. My wife ate the baked potato and ate most of it. I tried a little bit where it was just the potato and it was not overcooked and not too undercooked. It was easy to scoop with the fork without too much effort. If you are in the area and craving for BBQ, I highly recommend trying this place. The portion is not as big as BBQ joints in Texas or KC but they are on par with the ones around San Jose. The pricing is decent and like I mentioned, is also on par to San Jose pricing. If you have a big group, there are plenty of tables to accommodate folks. The location is close to the highway so that's a plus. The staff is very helpful and will give you a good recommendation if you are debating on what to order.

We stopped to charge the car and luckily found this restaurant that looked decent to have dinner at…read morewhile we wait. Super casual spot. The service was super friendly and accommodating, like talking to family. There were so many good options and the prices were affordable! Especially, for Caribbean food. My partner kept telling me how good of a find this place was and I felt accomplished, LOL! We got excited because this is probably one of our favorite cuisines. We ordered the goat curry, mac and cheese, mixed veggies, collard greens, vegetable curry, beef patty, and two orders of fried cornmeal bread... all for a family of 3 (the 3rd human being a 14 month old hahaha). I thought I can give the baby the vegetable curry, but it turned out to be too spicy so hence why we got the mac and cheese and plain mixed veggies. Everything was fire! Maybe with the exception of the collard greens because that tasted like it was cooked in tabasco or something. Their juices were good too! Portions are generous. Luckily, we had leftovers to enjoy the next day. The beef patty was yummy, but I do wish it came with some type of dipping sauce. All the dishes tasted authentic, I felt like I was back in Jamaica. Everything comes in to-go containers which is convenient. They provide paper plates if you want to dine there. The restaurant is maintained well and clean. I hope they expand across East Bay area as it seems many of their locations are mainly in South Bay/Peninsula.

The combo plates are worth it, with their rice and plantains! They are mouth watering good. The service here was quick, although I did take out. The place itself was clean and had a lot of seating available. If you're a big back in the South Bay looking for some Caribbean food, I highly recommend coming here!
