Brisket, burnt ends, collard greens, corn bread
Samantha Z.

What a solid spot! It definitely hit a craving for amazingly tasty meat. Brisket: 10/10 the texture couldn't have been better! They have three options, fatty, lean, or mixed. The mixed brisket was perfect and the meat was not tough whatsoever. The fat lent juiciness to each bite. This brisket was the perfect vehicle for the BBQ sauces on the table and it was super fun mixing and matching the different flavors. I do wish it had a bit more flavor on its own though, like just a little touch more salt and pepper would've perfected this! Burnt ends : 10/10!!! OMG this was heaven!! The pork belly was perfectly charred and coated in this amazing sweet glaze that kind of reminded me a bit of charsiu, but even better! It's almost dessert-like in its carmelization, lending a new spin on sweet and savory. You definitely have to try this fresh! Collard Greens: 6/10 They were alright, nothing special. Corn bread: 6/10 Almost sponge bread-like in texture. Not too sweet. Price: A 2 meat combo for $30 is a bit much. I wish they had better valued lunch deals. Ambiance : 7/10 normal nothing special Service: 10/10 consistently checked on us to make sure we were okay, and gave us extra plates to share without us having to ask! plus the free soda refills are great!

Ribs, pulled pork, sliced briskets Side of rice and coleslaw.

We came to celebrate our anniversary and wanted a bbq joint and happen to chance this place for lunch. They use fresh woods to grill their meats in the back, which i was excited to see as I walked inside. We were greeted upon arrival and sat at their many booth tables. The simple wall portraits, the front counter, and southern music brought a southern accent to the restaurant which added to their charm. They promptly tended to our orders and customers started trinkling in for the next 30 min. We ordered the classic beef ribs, pulled pork, and sliced briskets with a side of coleslaw and rice. We were excited to try their many sauces at the table. They had a mustard sauce that paired nicely with the brisket and pulled pork. The sweet, honey bbq and the spicy bbq paired nicely with the ribs. Only let down was the meats didnt have enough of that wood-smoked taste i was hoping for. Additionally, the coleslaw was was bland and the taste and consistency to it, so probably would skip it next time. Other than that, I wouldnt mind coming back to try more off their menu. :)

I'm pretty sure this is the original location. I haven't been here in 15 years at least. The place could definitely use a facelift. The service was excellent and our server was really nice and friendly, but that's basically it. Somehow I remembered they had much better quality. The food was mediocre at best, for 3 people with tip we paid $85. Their fries were good, portions were small. When you have other bbq places in the city, you can choose elsewhere.

Came into this dining experience with zero expectations as a vegetarian, but it blew me away. I noticed that had a jackfruit Sammy on the menu, not something I saw online, so I ordered that with a side salad and ranch. They make their own ranch, which is a plus. The Sammy was so flavorful! I added pickles because why not and wasn't overly full with the salad. So ofc I had room for banana pudding. Ugh, so good. Perfectly creamy and just enough banana. My partner really enjoyed his meal too (see photos). We've been to Texas a few times and this bbq was a good competitor in his opinion. Love all of their bbq sauces too. Service was the cherry on top. A nice kid was on it! He checked in to see how I liked the Sammy because it is a new menu item! Inside is rustic and clean! Some vegetarian options, but you only need the jackfruit Sammy IMO. No pet friendly patio.

Best BBQ spots ever. I've been here a few times and they never disappoint. The corn bread is fluffy and flavorful. The Mac and cheese is one of the best I've had, it had little pieces of pulled pork, however you can order without, but recommend it with the pulled pork, so delicious. The beans were great as well. The meat options are all great as well. This time around we went with ribs and they were so tender they came off the bones. The brisket was great as well. Do not fear whatever you order here you will love. Also don't forget to try their sauces they have a variety of 5 different sauces. Our server was Mary and was amazing, she was attentive and helpful. If you plan to dine in there are plenty of seats however could get busy around lunch time however they do serve the food in a timely manner. They do also offer take out as well. Highly recommend this place if you want some good BBQ.

Two meat combo with chicken and brisket which comes with baked beans and cornbread

My son and I stopped by Smoking Pig since I hadn't been there for several years. I was so hungry, I wasn't sure what I wanted so I decided on the two-meat combo with chicken and brisket which comes with baked beans and cornbread. When he took my order, he asked if I wanted my brisket lean, fatty or both and I said I want it fatty. You know that's where the flavor comes from! I don't eat a lot of beef so I wanted to splurge. The quarter chicken was a pretty good size and the brisket I thought oh kind of on the smaller portion size but the taste made up for it. Oh my gosh it was so yummy...that fat! It was so tender! The chicken had a really nice smoky flavor and it was not dry. Considering we came in an hour before they closed, that definitely was not an issue. They have four different sauces, but I really liked the classic BBQ sauce. The beans were smoking and the cornbread was pretty good. Service was great and hey're very friendly. They checked on us often. They had jazz music playing which was really cool.

Ribs!!! Out of all the bbq places I've gone to, the serving and preparation of their ribs will be my go to. The 1/2 rib rack meal is definitely worth it. It includes three smaller sized ribs and 3 larger sized ribs. Probably enough to serve 2 people. My parter ordered the combo platter with beef brisket and chicken leg quarter. Brisket was juicy and tender and the chicken leg was huge. If it's busy- you'll probably have to wait a good min for your servers. The ambiance is a hole in the wall type of vibe. Overall, great portion, flavor and sauce choices.

Chicken leg quarter, Angus, beef, brisket, and Cajun fries
Mr C.

The Cajun fries came out crispy, perfectly seasoned, and clearly the best decision I made that day. Zero notes. The chicken leg was decent -- not a ton of smoke, but still enjoyable and did its job. Maybe it's the brine or how they cooked it but literally the same taste as a miniature turkey leg.. The brisket, however, was having a rough day. Super dry, overcooked, and pretty much flavorless. The BBQ sauce tried to help, but it was watery and didn't bring much flavor to the rescue. Shout-out to the lady at the register (wish I got her name). Super friendly, smiling, and genuinely helpful -- honestly happy enough that I'd go back just to see her again. Food was hit-or-miss, but the service alone earns a return visit.

Two-Meat Combo with Southern Greens and Cornbread!

Great experience tonight! Happy, friendly, fast service. Brisket was outstanding! Ribs were tender with plenty of meat to devour (with some fat for flavor.) Fries were hot and crispy. Cornbread to die for, but on the smallish side. Key Lime pie was a nice finish, but again on the smallish side. Still my go-to joint for BBQ.

Decent barbecue, especially the brisket, with serviceable sides. Stopped in here for dinner during a business trip and decided to try the ribs and brisket along with an appetizer sampler including the potato skins, burnt ends, and pulled pork nachos. I enjoyed the burnt ends tossed in the California honey sauce - they were juicy and fatty and just what I was hoping for. I was glad they didn't skimp or overcook their ends like some other joints do. The brisket was also relatively tender and not overly done, although my pieces weren't as fatty as I'd hoped. The ribs were HUGE and the seasonings were tasty, but I thought the meat was overcooked and a little dried out. I also didn't realize the ribs didn't come sauced, so I only had the Carolina sauce in to-go containers and it did not pair well. On the bright side, I was pleasantly surprised at the generous portions for to-go orders of the potato skins and nachos. I was definitely filled up! Unfortunately, the customer service experience wasn't the greatest. I was traveling for work so placed my order online a few hours ahead of time so that I could eat after driving for a few hours. I arrived approximately 15-20 minutes after my pickup time and had to wait another 15 minutes while they were "putting my order together." That was somewhat disappointing and I wish could have been executed better. Definitely recommend ordering extra sauces with the ribs and coming on an empty stomach!

Tough leathery burnt ends were
Dirk C.

Wow has the quality dropped significantly in this once awesome BBQ restaurant. Ordered Combo #1. The burnt ends were tough as rubber. Beef jerky is easier to chew! The potato salad was Bland with a capital "B." They got my friends order wrong and while he also received the burnt ends , his were of the same poor quality. Not sure if this is new ownership, but after years of visiting and dozens of meals, we're not going back after the experience today

Happy to discover smoking pig bbq. It seemed a little underwhelming when I first walked in as it didn't seem too busy. There was ample seating and plenty of space to accommodate large groups. Our server was super nice and on top of everything. I ended up getting the bbq burger which was delicious. My friends for the bbq platter and all of them said the meats were delicious. I got a peanut butter pie for dessert which was good but you can only eat a couple bites of it as it is on the sweeter side

Two 2 Meat Combo

The place was pretty pretty empty should've been my first red flag :( Food wasn't very good, the meat was kinda dry and didn't come out hot which meant it was likely sitting .. the potato salad was watery? The Mac n cheese was greasy, corn bread was ok but had like cream of corn butter on top. The burnt ends were very burnt lol we wanted to stop by given the reviews and I'm from Texas so bbq is kinda my go to.. We have a long drive back to LA and we're both super sick within about an hour of eating here.

Burnt ends and brisket is sooooo yummy!!!! I tried their spicy bbq sauce I wish I could buy it.

I love having breakfast at Bill's Cafe. Unfortunately, this location is not the same experience as the two other locations I've tried. The hostess told us they had no tables, and we could sit at the bar. My daughter stated she would rather be seated at a table, and we could wait. Three customers were walking past us, and the hostess said we could have their table. We were immediately seated in a booth, and we noticed there were at least five empty tables around us, peculiar. Whatever, we had time to look and decide what we each wanted. When our waiter came for our orders, he was quick and efficient. We didn't have to wait long for our meals and drinks to arrive. We generally liked our food, but the country potatoes were a little too firm, and seemed like they weren't cooked all the way through. We had to wait awhile for refills on our drinks. We caught the hostess walking by, and asked if we could get refills and napkins. She said okay, but brought only napkins, and we waited some more for refills on coffee and water. The hostess seemed a bit brusque, on the other hand our waiter was, quick and professional. I will drive a little further to the Alameda location, because the Newbury location is not as great, or team conscious as the other location.

Hey there party People…read more Decided to venture into Willow Glen today on the hunt for something new to try. Boy howdy did we hit the Mother Load with "The Table". We hit the Brunch hour and the place was rocking. We were able to sit right down amazingly. There is a fabulous patio to people watch and enjoy the California weather. Our server Charles was really great. He walked us through the menu giving us the 911 on watch to order. Most of the plates were perfect shareable bites. Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. Loved the potato roll they used all round a killer sandwich. Going a little outside the box we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The pineapple slaw with this amazing peppery chutney type sauce played so well with the acid of the pineapple. Another must have sandwich. I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. The Giant Profiterole is exactly that GIANT and stuffed with White Chocolate Gelato and Hot Chocolate Sauce that you can drizzle over the top. To fricken die for good.
