10/10 experience at Smokin Pig BBQ! From the moment we walked in, our server Luke made the whole experience amazing. He was super attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect for us. The food was honestly incredible. It's hard to even pick favorites because literally everything was so good, but if I had to choose, the mac and cheese, cornbread, and ribs definitely stood out. The ribs were suuuuper juicy, tender, and packed with flavor. I'm really picky about mac and cheese, but theirs was SO good -- creamy, flavorful, and with chunks of meat mixed in that made it even better. The cornbread was moist with the perfect amount of sweetness. And the BBQ sauces?? So dang good that I ended up buying two bottles to take home with me. We ordered the Family Pack #3, which I believe is the big one meant to feed around 8-10 people, and it absolutely delivered. We had 10 people in our group, and every single person was full and happy. There were even leftovers -- not a ton, because everyone kept going back for more -- but enough to show how much food came with the order. The barbecue was excellent across the board. Not one person had a complaint, and with a group that size, that says a lot. Everything tasted great, the portions were generous, and the whole meal was a hit. Very underwhelming experience at Smoking Pig BBQ. The wait staff was attentive at first to get our orders, but once our food was dropped off, they never came back to the table to check in on refills or ask if we were ready to pay. We had to ask three times and wait over 20 minutes to finally get the server to come back with the kiosk to pay. The food wasn't terrible, but very small portions for the price. I wasn't expecting the plate to be less than half full of food when ordering an entree and side. Overall ambiance was pretty rundown and dingy, with our table and condiments quite sticky. What a solid spot! It definitely hit a craving for amazingly tasty meat. Brisket: 10/10 the texture couldn't have been better! They have three options, fatty, lean, or mixed. The mixed brisket was perfect and the meat was not tough whatsoever. The fat lent juiciness to each bite. This brisket was the perfect vehicle for the BBQ sauces on the table and it was super fun mixing and matching the different flavors. I do wish it had a bit more flavor on its own though, like just a little touch more salt and pepper would've perfected this! Burnt ends : 10/10!!! OMG this was heaven!! The pork belly was perfectly charred and coated in this amazing sweet glaze that kind of reminded me a bit of charsiu, but even better! We came to celebrate our anniversary and wanted a bbq joint and happen to chance this place for lunch. They use fresh woods to grill their meats in the back, which i was excited to see as I walked inside. We were greeted upon arrival and sat at their many booth tables. The simple wall portraits, the front counter, and southern music brought a southern accent to the restaurant which added to their charm. They promptly tended to our orders and customers started trinkling in for the next 30 min. We ordered the classic beef ribs, pulled pork, and sliced briskets with a side of coleslaw and rice. We were excited to try their many sauces at the table. They had a mustard sauce that paired nicely with the brisket and pulled pork. The sweet, honey bbq and the spicy bbq paired nicely with the ribs. Only let down was the meats didnt have enough of that wood-smoked taste i was hoping for. Additionally, the coleslaw was was bland and the taste and consistency to it, so probably would skip it next time. Came into this dining experience with zero expectations as a vegetarian, but it blew me away. I noticed that had a jackfruit Sammy on the menu, not something I saw online, so I ordered that with a side salad and ranch. They make their own ranch, which is a plus. The Sammy was so flavorful! I added pickles because why not and wasn't overly full with the salad. So ofc I had room for banana pudding. Ugh, so good. Perfectly creamy and just enough banana. My partner really enjoyed his meal too (see photos). We've been to Texas a few times and this bbq was a good competitor in his opinion. Love all of their bbq sauces too. Best BBQ spots ever. I've been here a few times and they never disappoint. The corn bread is fluffy and flavorful. The Mac and cheese is one of the best I've had, it had little pieces of pulled pork, however you can order without, but recommend it with the pulled pork, so delicious. The beans were great as well. The meat options are all great as well. This time around we went with ribs and they were so tender they came off the bones. The brisket was great as well. Do not fear whatever you order here you will love. Also don't forget to try their sauces they have a variety of 5 different sauces. Our server was Mary and was amazing, she was attentive and helpful. If you plan to dine in there are plenty of seats however could get busy around lunch time however they do serve the food in a timely manner. They do also offer take out as well. My son and I stopped by Smoking Pig since I hadn't been there for several years. I was so hungry, I wasn't sure what I wanted so I decided on the two-meat combo with chicken and brisket which comes with baked beans and cornbread. When he took my order, he asked if I wanted my brisket lean, fatty or both and I said I want it fatty. You know that's where the flavor comes from! I don't eat a lot of beef so I wanted to splurge. The quarter chicken was a pretty good size and the brisket I thought oh kind of on the smaller portion size but the taste made up for it. Oh my gosh it was so yummy...that fat! It was so tender! The chicken had a really nice smoky flavor and it was not dry. Considering we came in an hour before they closed, that definitely was not an issue. Ribs!!! Out of all the bbq places I've gone to, the serving and preparation of their ribs will be my go to. The 1/2 rib rack meal is definitely worth it. It includes three smaller sized ribs and 3 larger sized ribs. Probably enough to serve 2 people. My parter ordered the combo platter with beef brisket and chicken leg quarter. The Cajun fries came out crispy, perfectly seasoned, and clearly the best decision I made that day. Zero notes. The chicken leg was decent -- not a ton of smoke, but still enjoyable and did its job. Stopped in here for dinner during a business trip and decided to try the ribs and brisket along with an appetizer sampler including the potato skins, burnt ends, and pulled pork nachos. I was glad they didn't skimp or overcook their ends like some other joints do. The brisket was also relatively tender and not overly done, although my pieces weren't as fatty as I'd hoped. I also didn't realize the ribs didn't come sauced, so I only had the Carolina sauce in to-go containers and it did not pair well. On the bright side, I was pleasantly surprised at the generous portions for to-go orders of the potato skins and nachos. I was definitely filled up! Unfortunately, the customer service experience wasn't the greatest. I was traveling for work so placed my order online a few hours ahead of time so that I could eat after driving for a few hours. Before turning in for the night yesterday i was looking for a place to eat in San Jose. O do day trips here and there for tattoo sessions and wanted somewhere near Japan town but choices other than my usual. Saw Smoking Pit had great reviews and many reviews so i figured I'd give it a go. First off, they serve Pepsi, that is always a good start for me. Nice big location 11booths, 3 being able to fit 6 versus 4. Many other standard tables on the floor too. This was a Sunday at 1PM and not too many in here. I see they have another location in Fremont and Vegas. I went with the pulled pork sandwich with no slaw on it, and cornbread for my side. Craving cornbread is what led me down this rabbit hole and brought me here. You can sit and get served or order at the counter. My food was brought to me rather quickly. They have 4 homemade sauces. Classic, a sweet honey base, a mustard base to be med heat, and a habanero base they said was hot. I tend to like my bbq a little more on the sweet sauce, so i opted to use the classic and honey. A lot of meat was packed on this sandwich, so i tend to deconstruct, take half the meat out, add sauce, and layer it again with more sauce on top. The bun was nicely toasted. Food arrives on a metal tray with parchment paper, silverware. Meat was great. Booked long to where it was easy to cut through, while still being juicy and not dry. It didn't stand a chance. I grabbed another cornbread but I'll be taking it home. I'm stuffed. Cornbread is served with a cinnamon butter on top. A few things I'm not too fond of... wish the cornbread came out warm. The Smoking Pig is alright if you're craving barbecue, but I'm sorry to say I didn't love it. It's on par with other barbecue places in the Bay Area. There is a huge smoker out back, but I've never encountered this place smelling like smoke. I actually wonder if they were forced NOT to use it for some reason. The inside is very low key and family friendly. The service was pleasantly casual. Ribs come in the Premium Combo Platter. The Classic Combo covers only the other meats. You get cornbread or rice and one side. I'll go item by item: Pork Spareribs: Three ribs in the combo platter. They were nice and tender, but I would absolutely love more smoke flavor. Angus Beef Brisket: Choose moist, lean, or both. This had a nice flavor and textures. It also looked great, though again I'd like more smoke. Chicken Leg Quarter. Giant leg quarter! The skin and meat definitely had that telltale smoked texture, but again I was missing the smokiness. The sauces helped. Burnt Ends: I was disappointed. They're sticky-glazed and and sharply cubed which is fine, but our serving had big chunks of unmelted fat which isn't so pleasant or edible. Sunday Chili Fries: These came out late for some reason. The fries were nice and crisp. The chili itself was tasty, if a little spaghetti sauce-like. It was a nice offering. Cornbread: The honey butter on top was weirdly crumbly or curdled? See pic. But the cornbread was deliciously cakey. I like em sweet. Sorry. I'd guess there's some whole wheat flour. Mac and Cheese: Not bad! I enjoyed it. Greens: It had some smoked bacon and it might have been baby kale? I loved that it was garlicky and not overcooked. Just tender and bright green how I like it. The overall cleanliness just felt off and the place looked really neglected, which made the experience uncomfortable. What really pushed it over the edge was noticing what looked like rat droppings near the dining area. That was extremely concerning and immediately made us lose our appetite. Cleanliness and sanitation should be the bare minimum for any restaurant. I do want to say the lady working that night was very kind. She kept apologizing and seemed genuinely embarrassed about the situation, which I appreciated. It didn't feel like it was her fault at all it seemed more like a management or maintenance issue. I hope the owners take this seriously and address the cleanliness and pest concerns, because the staff deserves a better environment to work in and customers deserve a clean place to eat. read more

The brisket had good tenderness to it and I wasn't overwhelmed with fatty bits, so that was nice. The ribs had good flavor, though I wish they would fall of the bone. Very few places make them to a point where they fall off the bone, but those are my favorite... But the ribs here are still good. I appreciated being able to try all the BBQ sauce options - that's always fun. I only got through about half my meal before having to pack up the rest to take home.
