We are here about 2 times a week. We have always enjoyed everything we've tried. I LOVE that the employees lookout for everyone, going so far as to request screaming children's parents to POLITELY get their children to stop running, stop climbing the columns, and please stop screaming. I appreciate the consideration and the fact that the employees were attempting to maintain the safety of the kids even when the parents weren't. What an amazing gem we found in West!! My husband and I were were driving back to San Antonio from Fort Worth and we decided to stop to eat and watch the football game. First of all, Regina the bartender was an absolute ray of sunshine!! She was kind, efficient, talkative, and made our drinks perfectly. The food was delicious too! We had the fish tacos, the broccoli cheese baked potato, and the chicken avocado BLT. Portions are big and we had some to take home with us. Overall, we highly recommend the Tipsy Lion!! Their food changes about every 6-8 months which is good for people In town that need variety! WINGS, APPETIZERS, TATORS, SALADS, and sides are all amazing I've had just about everything on their menu and nothing has ever disappointed us. This establishment holds a Texas vibe. The staff are friendly and attentive. The one observation that I would like to make right off the bat is how much ownership Michelle placed squarely on her shoulders to see to it her customers were waited on. I know that not only was she working the bar and customers seated at tables, she was also disappearing to the kitchen to help what I assumed was a skeleton cook team. I would like to express my gratitude to her while also noting that the owners where no where to be seen. Maybe they were in the kitchen..who knows. Ok enough of that. The street tacos were ok. I would have preferred corn tortillas & a charred jalapeño on the side. I guess I'm just spoiled like that. I sat at the bar and began a conversation with Nicole, one of the owners. She was friendly and attentive. I got the boneless wings, dry w Lucky Lady rub. They were cooked to perfection. Moist with a light but crunchy batter. Evidently, it's cooked with a very special recipe and technique. Nicole said they make everything fresh when it's ordered. Ok. So the 5 star rating may seem weird. First, we ordered the Philly cheesesteak. They come out and say they're out of the rolls. Strike one. Then we asked to watched the Texas Rangers game and they don't have Bally's network. Strike two. Then they run out of Miller Lite on the keg and we had to order the cans. Strike 3. But I will tell you. We made a day trip from Dallas and found this place and next time we're down there we'll go back to see Michelle. Our 40th High School Reunion was held here on Saturday, 09/10/22. This is a great place!! The food is great, the atmosphere awesome. The wait staff are over the top. We had over 40 people there and they never missed a beat!! We never had to wait for drinks and the food was delish. I HIGHLY recommend this place as a venue and even just straight up restaurant. This will be a long one since one-sided stories are "good enough" for this establishment to make assumptions and decisions from and comments are being made without knowing all the facts so here goes... A little back story.. my husband and our 13 year old daughter worked there. Within 2 weeks, my husband (a cook) received a $2 raise for his hard work, quality food put out, dedication and leadership qualities. He was praised for the hard work he did, even had a personal shout-out for his professionalism. One night after telling another worker, a KID, to take out her trash, said child told the owner that he called her a b****. The owner then began talking to him as though HE were the child, not even allowing him to tell what happened, especially the fact that he certainly did NOT call this CHILD a b****. So with the owner having zero regard to collect both sides of what happened, he quit. My daughter stayed, as this was not her battle, she enjoyed her job, and was told she wouldn't be treated differently just because her father left. However, things VERY quickly changed. She'd go to work, just to have the other children (15 and 17 years old) talk about her, point and laugh while making comments and taunt her, even though she never had problems with any of them before. She was then sent home, even though she was the only dishwasher on while keeping 3 cooks (also kids) "because they weren't busy", later to be texted it was because she was "playing around and being rude" to the other children working. As far as being mean to the other employees, maybe she was standing up for herself from their bullying. But again, the owner never sat down and had a discussion about the events, yet instead decided to listen to the other children and fire her... Through a text message! I'm not writing this because of what happened with my husband, not my battle, but as a MOTHER, I will ALWAYS go to battle for my children, and for her to not even be able to tell her side of what happened, then to be fired through a text, to me, was completely unprofessional and uncalled for. How would you feel if that was your child, being taunted and talked about, given no decency to even having a conversation about the events, just to be fired through text?! Having been a manager for MANY years, never once in my professional life, would I fire someone through a text, especially without allowing a conversation to take place. And allowing literal children to work for you and basically narrate your "professional" decision making on an employee with no common decency to a discussion from all parties before making the assumption based one-sidedly shows ones true character and poor leadership. read more
