Recently spent a Saturday date night dining at this new Victory Park hot spot with my Yelp! Elite wife. The concept of Billy Can Can is great and is carried out wonderfully from the moment you walk in and note the decor, to the menus, the servers and their attire, to the cocktail menu and entrees right down to the drink coasters! This place was hopping at 7pm and we were glad to have made a reservation. For those of you coming down to Victory, there is street parking if you can find it, a few parking garages within a block and of course since its Dallas, a valet stand. Our service from the team of waitstaff was good, if a little hit and miss as our dinner went on. The menu is interesting. We had the deviled eggs and the heirloom tomato salad to start. Along with a glass of Pinot for her and for me a Blue Smoke, their take on a bourbon smash style cocktail. Both appetizers looked awesome and were delicious. Same with the drinks! For entrees I opted for the hot fried quail, which it was! And she had the homemade spinach ravioli. Both were quite tasty, but the pasta was bathed in just a bit too much butter. For a side we chose the corn salad which was crisp and refreshing. We skipped desert and coffee on this initial visit but I know we'll be back and will give that final portion of the menu a taste-drive. This is the first restaurant in Victory Park that has the potential to serve as an anchor establishment for many years to come, while at the same time lifting the entire area to a welcomed new level. read more

Billy's is a neighborhood gem. It's one of our go to bars, where they call you by your name and start making your drink without you even having to order it (granted, we go about three times per week, so they do know us well). The drinks are delicious and actually have alcohol in them unlike some of the watered down cocktails that can be found around Uptown. You won't find premixed margaritas here. Each drink is mixed right in front of you. The food is good too. We love the Dueling Sausages. Extra stars for outdoor seating, probably the best ambiance in Dallas, a huge selection of liquor, very cool animals and rifles on the walls and clean restrooms. This is one of our favorite places and the staff are great! Definitely check this place out the next time you visit Victory Park. read more

My mom and I came here for an early dinner on a Friday and loved it! She had been before but it was my first time. The interior is decorated with kind of a Western/saloon vibe that was super unique and fun. Our waiter gave great recommendations and the hostess, Elle, is a doll! The food and drinks were both scrumptious. It is an energetic and fun place to have dinner and just hang out for a while - I definitely want to come back with a group of friends. My favorite entree items are the scallops and the Wagyu steak. This is one of the top restaurants I recommend to people looking for a great dinner downtown! Okay, still at the bar and ordering food. I'm so thoroughly impressed by the level of service! Funny thing, after working the front of the house for some years, my best friend is the only one I ever heard describe a wine as "chewy," when describing the Matanza's Creek Chardonnay to our customers. My bartender/server, Jimmy, described the Texas GSM as "chewy." He also set me up with a blanco off the menu that was his favorite. Tremendous. He encouraged me to try the venison tartar, which was amazing. I also got to eves drop on another bartender describing some of the apps and these guys are rockstars. Abraham, who is the principal, is both gracious to guests but not shy about getting down and dirty, as I saw him jump in to clean some bare ware. He brings a lot of the energy to the place. My entree was the Buffalo (bison) filet. The filet was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. It also paired wonderfully with the GSM. Can't wait to go back!! read more

After a few previous trips to Billy Can Can, I had thought this was the best new restaurant in town. Every course in each meal had been excellent, something I had gone out of my way to track down the manager and tell him. But at a meal there a few weeks ago, it was the exact opposite. Everything was terrible. And it seems like the restaurant has gone from cooking fresh to order, to reheating pre-made food. First off, the cocktails were basically undrinkable. Sent one back, and the next was just as bad. I don't know what their problem with the cocktail menu is; they've changed it radically each time we've been, and every time they get a tasty cocktail on the menu, they dump it. Their best appetizer had been the deviled eggs; usually a great assortment of flavors. This time, they were all bland and tasted the same. We always got the cast-iron cornbread as an appetizer as well; previously it had been the best cornbread we'd ever had. This time, the first one we ordered came out almost raw in the center. Sent it back, and the second tasted like it had been made days earlier and re-heated. It's clear they are NOT making this in the cast-iron skillet anymore; looks like it's made in bulk then just served up in the skillet. So it's lost all the flavor you get on the crust from cooking in cast-iron. Main courses were the summer ravioli and smoked chicken. Both were clearly made much earlier and just reheated. Actually nothing in this entire meal came across as using fresh ingredients. I just don't know what has happened to this place. Finally, got their Texas sheet cake for dessert, which I'd enjoyed immensely in each previous visit. It also used to be served made fresh in a small cast-iron skillet. This time, the cake tasted like it was days old, if not longer. Dry, stale, with the frosting the consistency of caulking. Almost the exact same problem that that the cornbread had. I don't know what has happened to this place. New owners, new chef, a purge of the kitchen staff?... but whatever it is, they have ruined what used to be a great restaurant. read more

Dined at this fantastic restaurant this past weekend and everything from service to cuisine is excellent! Cocktails were delicious and one was even served in a miniature glass boot. The lamb ribs and fried soft-shell crab were AMAZING. I highly recommend accompanying any dish with a side of their cornbread. The butter on the cornbread contained some kind of spicy seasoning to give everything a nice kick. Tom, our server, took excellent care of us and went so far as to run to where we valeted just to return a pair of sunglasses! Definitely plan to come back for many more meals! read more

This meal wasn't bad. I want to give it four stars, but I cannot do so in good conscience because, although I would go back to Billy Can Can to try the steak, I would not order the chicken again. My rule is four stars or more if I would order the same meal at the same restaurant again and three stars if I wouldn't. Sorry Billy Can Can. I liked you, I really did, but there are certain rules in life that are inviolable-- like never go to sleep hungry-- and this, unfortunately, is one of them. Came in for celebratory dinner and had called ahead with one special request, it was fulfilled right when we got there! Samantha took care of us, she was helpful and also gave us our space since we were celebrating, and very friendly/talkative. Food was fantastic, and my old fashioned with that reserve makers was insanely good. Very impressive menu at a medium-high price point, it's not a spot you can go every night but still has a nice/casual vibe to it with the decor and decorations. We had the deviled eggs and the smoked fish dip for appetizer. The smoked fish dip tasted like smoked tuna fish salad. It came with spicy crispy potato chips. Not bad. The deviled eggs were ok. They used the same filling for all of them. The only difference between them is an addition of an ingredient or two. For the main meal, we had the seafood salad, the snapper, and the table steak. The side dishes were the creamed potatoes, corn bread, and brussel sprouts. The seafood salad was very salty. We had them re do it with less dressing. It was better, but still salty. Ugh! The snapper was ok. The table steak was really good. The perfect amount of charring and seasoning. And cooked perfectly. Delicious. The corn bread is not sweet. Thank goodness. I hate it when it's sweet. But the butter is sweet, so be weiry of it. The creamy potato was tasty. The Brussel sprouts were really good, but a little salty. I make it better. I struggled with how to rate this place. I would have given this place three stars, but the table steak was so delicious that I had to give it four stars. First off they got us in when it appeared booked. Sat at the bar in uncomfortable but cool chairs. Great selection of cocktails and craft drinks but we sti k to beer. Asked for the best 2 things on the menu and our bartender Reed suggested the bone in pork chop. It was amazing. We added cornbread and some whipped potatoes and it was perfect. The pickled mustard on the chop may have made that dish an 11. If you are going to a game or concert or in this area, this is a hard yes. read more

I really hate to give a 1 star review but this place really deserve it. Brace yourself for a long review! So me and my wife was part of a group of like 16 people for a birthday party dinner. Menu was already set for this group consisting of an appetizer, choice of entree and desert for $50 per person! Now since they set it at $50 your limited a choice between 2 different appetizers, 6 different entree n 2 different desert. Me and wife was seated in a table booth of 4 with another couple (our friend). So upon looking at the limit menu choice I figure hmm... $50 for a appetizer, entree and desert which would break down to $10 for appetizer, $30 entree and $10 desert right? Which is pretty high. But when it's time to order they say oh no it's a family style appetizer so they bring out for my table 2 appetizer consisting of a Smoked fish (tuna, probably from a can) dip and a Little Gougeres (taste like corn bead balls with side of cheese dip) When I saw that it just made me boil, 2 regular! not family size appetizer which upon checking the regular priced menu would be $13 for the fish dip and $7 for gougeres. So I'm going to break it down to price per person at the end. Onto the entree, I ordered the billy burger (regular price $17) and wifey order the fresh market fish (don't see on menu, might be sword fish steak which is $27 but doubt it, probably a cheaper fish to be in line with their profit margin for special special group pricing). Burger I rate negative stars! Meat was gamey and dry, ate half and gave up. The fish entree was dry also, with no taste at all. My friend got same burger and his gf got the Hot fried quail ($21) consisting of 4 quail legs smh. We tried the quail which is pretty good but not worth it for the price. So final is the desert, same thing they did for the appetizer, they bring out a peach cobbler ($9) and a snicker bar shape dessert ($9 I think) regular size to share between 4 people smh. Ok time for price break down, as I said they charge set price $50 each person since we're so special in a group. So appetizer according to regular price menu total out $20, so 2 for table of 4 bringing it to $5 a person. Entree, my burger with fries would be $17 (crazy price, better off at hopdaddy for it). Wife fish plate, a small sized fillet, more like 1/2 of a fillet to be honest, we just price it high and call it the $27 plate. Friend quail plate $21. Desert total $18 so $4.50 each person. So my total $17+5+4.50=$26.50 =rif-off of $23.50 ($26.50-$50). Wife: $27+5+4.50=$36.50= rif-off of $13.50. Friend quail plate $21+5+4.50=$30.50= rif-off $19.50. So as you can see they gave us special rif-off price for being in a party group, you know what that fish was probably like $20 just to be in line with the rest, so rif-off adjusted $20+5+4.50=29.50-$50=$20.50. Let's add up the overcharge, $23.50+$20.50+$19.50+$23.50 (friend burger), grand total RIF-OFF of $87!!! From a $200 total 4 people smh. Throw on top of a 20% auto added tip. Clearly the waiter guy didnt care for our opinion of how the food taste cause he was getting 20% tip anyways. So at the end if we look a final party grand total RIF-off for 16 ppl, we talking about close to $348 (4x$87- $800 (16ppl x $50))). Auto tip more then $160 since we got drinks also, I will give them credit for the drink as there made pretty strong. So there you go, don't go in as group party! Just don't go this place at all. Can't believe this place got many great reviews, so many low standard foodie ppl. Can serve them some microwave items on a nice plate n charge them $30 and they give you 5 stars lol because of the environment of the restaurant. Smh highly not recommend for foodie people, everyone else go ahead and be my guest in getting sub par food for a high price because it make ppl feel elite when items are priced high lol. read more

Absolutely love Billy Can Can! It's a great place to gather friends and come in for happy hour or bring in a date! My friend and I make it a priority to meet once a week to catch up and when we came to Billy's we made it our spot! The bartenders are so awesome, attentive and just fun to be around our favorite bartender is Adam he has a contagious laugh and an amazing attitude (give that man a raise!) We can't decide which is our favorite cocktail because they're all so good! Our fave thing to snack on is their take on cornbread and our favorite dish is the butcher steak frites! This place is just fabulous beyond words. Had such a wonderful experience here - for a 1 month old restaurant I was impressed with the service all round. From the ladies laughing at me being an idiot on the way in, to the manager coming over for a chat - thanks Abraham !! Even the toilets were well stocked!
