The ambiance of this place is just like an upscale western saloon! There's taxidermy and rifles and all on the walls. When you enter is smells delicious! I ordered a New York strip and it was very tasty but a little too salty. The potato purée was amazing! I loved it so much I ordered 2. To drink I had a Hibiscus iced tea and it was really refreshing. For dessert I ordered a frozen peanut butter cake. It was really good and the chocolate was rich. Overall this place is really nice and you should definitely try it if you've never been! read more

This place was highly recommended and I really liked the atmosphere but I wish I liked the food as much as the decor and people. Very friendly bar tenders, nice spot but the food was underwhelming. I got the pork chop and was told it was the very best and it was good but, not great. My biggest issue was that it was served on a bed of colar greens (gross). Serve that over a bed of spinach or even better some Yukon gold mashed potatoes and it would match the flavor profile much better. Cesar salad was good and the best thing I got was the Pisco Sour. Short ribs w/ mash potato/root vegetables was absolute bomb. Really liked the set-up of the restaurant. It totally stands out from the rest of the area and provides a high-end, yet unstuffy, relaxing escape. Bartender was super friendly and willing to provide his recommendations and thoughts on the menu. Bar and table seating are plentiful. Also had the corn bread with dinner, which was a real nice mix of spicey and sweet. Billy Can Can was great! Came here with some girlfriends for drinks and dinner, and loved the "dining saloon" atmosphere and food! Our waiter was very good at giving us the run down on the menu. We had the Smoked Fish Dip for starters - I highly recommend it. We did have to ask for some additional potato chips to finish the dip. I chose the Long-Bone Pork Chop for dinner and it was DELISH! Very moist, and the braised greens were spectacular. As a bonus, we got to meet the owner, Tristan Simon, and learned more about his concept and decorations for the restaurant. Be sure to look around, and look up, at all the cool animals on the walls - my favorite was the big white bird with the long tail (think beautiful white peacock). The manager should be complimented for taking time out of his busy day. It shows he cares a lot about his business. There is a lot of pressure running a restaurant during normal times. Having to deal with the COVID shutdown, and the protests, are things that are out of the Managers control. Comments such like Ians exacerbate the situation and put additional stress on time. Why add to the stress? The manager now has to take extra time to deal with people like Ian and his hateful rhetoric. Shame on you Ian. Yelp you need to handle this fast and prudently! read more

We had such a great time on Saturday night for my friends birthday. We stood at the bar while we were waiting for our whole party to arrive. Jimmy made us the Doctor's Order which was delicious it tasted like a Bourbon Pina Colada! I am not a bourbon drinker usually but this was so good! We tried the devil eggs, Venison Tartar, and Smoked fish dip! They were all so good but the smoked fish dip was my favorite. The Caesar salad was good the parmesan crisp really made the salad. For dinner I had the Butchers Steak Frites. My steak was cooked perfect. I substituted my fries for the mashed potatoes which were so good! We also got a order of Brussel sprouts that were my favorite. For dessert we tried both the peach cobbler and the chocolate cake!! I recommend both! Billy really Can Can. In hearing over the last year all the work that was going into revitalizing Victory Park, I was really hoping they would make some innovative selections for restaurants and they are off to a good start with this place. It was obviously packed when we got there a bit early for our 830 reservation, but the high ceilings and openness of the restaurant is so balanced, it has a way of not feeling stuffy even when you're in standing room only space. Service was immediate at the bar and we barely got through our first drink when they sat us right on time for our res. Our waiter was prompt even with a full section and we never had to ask for anything additional throughout the evening, he was always one step ahead. We started with the Venison Tartare and although I sound super snooty when I say I have a tartare problem, this is one of the best and most favorite tartares I've ever had. The balance of sweet, salty and yolky in this dish was perfect. Who would have thought cherries in a tartare would bring it to another level? Billy did. For dinner I opted for the Swordfish steak and my date had the Bone-In NY strip. Both were seasoned very well, the only thing I would comment on is the Strip was not as tender as you would expect it to be for that cut. We ordered the Tomato Braised Okra as a side and it didn't disappoint either. I don't mean to sound basic but the one thing missing was a nice vat of mac n cheese to top it all off. I'm sure they are keen on changing the menu as they see fit, so I wouldn't be surprised to see new additions in the future. The evening went over without a hitch and with the somewhat lackluster service you find in Dallas at times, it was a welcome surprise. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

The rabbit papardelle was OK. The rabbit tasted like chicken, bland chicken. But no worry, there were bones in there so you would know it was not chicken you were eating. Our group of 8 were celebrating a friend's 60th birthday 12/14/19, reservations at 6pm. 2 of us were running late, and thankfully they sat our group promptly at 6pm, instead of making them wait on us. The service was excellent. The wine and appetizers were delicious. And the entrees were spot on! My husband had steak and it was tender and cooked to perfection. I had the scallops and it was delicious. Everyone at the table cleaned their plates. The atmosphere is perfect. The manager thanked our birthday boy for celebrating his special day with them. This place spares no detail. From the instant atmosphere feel you get when walking in, to the final bite - top notch across the board. I was honestly surprised this place is so good given I've lived in the neighborhood (actually right upstairs) and the other restaurants of this quality have been subpar, at best, whilst overpriced (see: Cook Hall in/connected to The W). I think this is likely the best new American-esque restaurant in Downtown Dallas, especially Victory Park. The decor alone in worth the visit. Highly recommend the corn bread and brussel sprout dishes as starters even if you are peckish (they aren't directly on the starter menu, but the 'sides' menu instead).
