This is my second time having brunch here and I can't not give this place a rave review. To start the service is wonderful- attentive and knowledgeable, you can tell the people who work there are proud of their product. Everything on the brunch menu is flavorful, not overdone, and just tastes fresh (The prices are also extremely reasonable). The brisket hash is so savory and delicious, I could eat it everyday. My two friends and I sat at the bar for a couple of drinks to celebrate my 30th. The drinks we're delicious, but the bar tender was incredibly arrogant and made us feel disparaged. We asked questions about how certain ingredients were presented in a drinks which he responded "I hate when people ask that question". My other kind friend simply asked for a sweet forward drink and he laughed in her face. A delicious drink is nothing when you feel belittled, dismisses and undervalued throughout your experience. This is my first Yelp review and I made the account to start with this review, so that should give you a good indication on how good this place is! My boyfriend and I love Billy Club, the atmosphere is cozy and relaxed and all the staff is very welcoming. The first time we came for the drinks, and had a couple of their craft cocktails which are always well done and delicious. We came back for the food the next time and were not disappointed! I've had everything from their steak dishes, soup, charcuterie plates and mussels and each was better than the next. It's a perfect place for a date night or a classy happy hour. My friend wanted to get a group together to go to Billy Club for his birthday dinner which happened to land on a Monday. Not many places are open on Monday but we were happy billy club was. I was nervous about this decision because I am vegan and they have no vegan items listed on the menu, however I had heard from other vegans that they are very accommodating. I called ahead to place a reservation and inquire about the possibility about offering a vegan entree for me. They were incredibly friendly and were really happy to make up a vegan meal for me when arriving! We got there and the waiter was already informed about my vegan meal and offered everyone else great information about the rest of the menu and drinks. I ordered an Apple salad that was easily veganized and I loved it!! Wish I had taken a picture. I was nervous not knowing exactly what my entree was going to be, but I was asked beforehand if I had any aversions to anything which was nice. They made up sautéed garlic spinach with some kind of incredibly seasoned and roasted potatoes and carrots with a butternut squash purée. It was incredible! I was so happy with my dish and left full. Despite the small menu, the selection includes a great variety. The specials were all good sounding, too. I ordered the hanger steak which came with small dollops of mashed potatoes which went wonderfully with the steak which was lightly seasoned. Also came with braised pearl onions which were cooked to tender perfection. Great flavors. Also ordered the Air Mail drink which was aged rum, honey, lime and prosecco. I liked the flavors of this drink and also that it was not too high in alcohol. My husband ordered the special which was salmon served on a bed of arugula with cooked carrots. This was also a delicately flavored dish which we loved. Service was second to none. Though it was very difficult to hear with the noise level, our server was very sophisticated in his mannerisms and helpful when asked about the various dishes. 8PM on a Friday night is a very busy time at the bar but there were a couple of tables open. We came here instead of Falley Allen because they took reservations for a party of 4. When we called to make reservations, they also asked us if anyone in our party had food allergies or requests, which I thought was very thoughtful! read more

Stopped at Billy Club for happy hour with my aunt and had the Prince Edward Island oysters with a delightful rose wine and melon mignonette, and a charcuterie platter with salami, a prosciutto-like ham and house-made pate served with the standard gherkins, mustard and crostini. Everything including the bread was delicious! My aunt had a bourbon cocktail (Frank's something?) that she loved, and I had a Pimm's cup. That was the only part of the experience that was a bit disappointing- normally a Pimm's cup has cucumber, fruit and mint - this one only had the mint. Really enjoyed our meal here on Saturday evening before seeing the Holiday Pops at Kleinhans! Our server was attentive but not overbearing and quickly took our drink orders upon sitting down. I of course had to have an Old Fashioned (whiskey of course) and have to say it was the best one I've had here in Buffalo. She also brought our bottle of wine to breathe while we enjoyed our apps and cocktails -- nice touch! We shared a charcuterie plate (waitress was able to tell us about all the accompaniments) and the fingerling potatoes - very tasty but nothing to write home about. There was only one special that evening, a beef short rib, and it was divine. Perfectly cooked and the flavor was rich and delicious. We also had the chicken thighs, my only wish for next time is less of the sauce it was served with - the flavor was great but overpowered the perfectly cooked chicken! Our friend enjoyed the hanger steak - cooked exactly as requested, tender, and delicious. We enjoyed the Granddad and the Chocolate Mouse for dinner -- both very tasty and worth their price point. We arrived a little bit early to our reservation and got a chance to sit at the bar. The bartender was great and gave us some recommendations. Loved the atmosphere and the decor of the restaurant. The service was great! Our waiter even timed our dessert perfectly. We asked if we could wait a while before bringing it out while we finished our drinks. We started with the special for the night was which was an appetizer of duck confit with winter vegetables. It was delicious! For entrees we split the Loose Cannon (meatball sub) and the steak. Both were fantastic! We finished our meal with having the Old Granddad ice cream sundae which was a perfect ending. Went to Billy Club on a snowy Friday night. We'd decided to go to four restaurants (Billy Club, Dapper Goose, Marble + Rye, and Toutant) to have a small bite and a cocktail. Billy Club was our first stop and the best place on the tour. We sat at the bar and ordered the Roasted Marrow. It's a huge bone split down the middle and roasted absolutely beautifully. And the pepper jelly served with it compliments it beautifully. We were so excited about the Roasted Marrow that we ordered another the Flat #12 Mushrooms and they were even better. It's an assortment of mushrooms with different preparations scattered on a plate with squash and celery (?). One of those preparations has something to do with coconut oil (I think) and is stunning. It's not cheap food, but I didn't feel at all like it wasn't worth it. The cocktails (all $10) were also the best we had that night, and we had a great time chatting with the owner and Tony (formerly, Bourbon and Butter!). Compared to other cocktail locales in town (Vera, for instance) the bang for your buck is great here. It must have been a bit of a challenge for Billy Club to design an upscale space that fit in on Allen St., and I think they mostly succeeded. They have a gorgeous white marble bar and a beautiful display of spirits. We sat at that bar, and I'm not sure what the vibe would be like sitting down. Enjoyed good food and great service as we sipped whiskey and shared the Nickle City Cheese and Roasted Marrow plates on a Friday night. It was written somewhere that the owners wanted to make something "streamlined and contemporary"... and it appears that they have met that goal. Set within the fast-evolving entertainment scene of Allentown, Billy Club is helping lift Buffalo's culinary culture to new heights. Although it is one of the newer establishments on the street, the restaurant's tone is one of the best reflections of the neighborhood's architectural character and its rich history. Composed of a relatively modest dining room and bar, nestled into a narrow urban storefront, Billy Club is reminiscent of that imaginary little dinner spot in a much bigger city that we all hope to stumble across. The clean and contemporary décor matches the typical patrons' personalities, both of which are pleasantly visible through a large picture window that makes up almost the entirety of its façade. From the kitchen, chef Scott Crombie's dishes are innovative, but always retain a distinct simplicity by focusing on seasonality and his relationships with local farms and purveyors. I would most aptly describe the food as New American in style, but French notes are woven through the entire story at differing levels of brightness. Brush strokes of traditional techniques such as braising, aging, and the mother sauces are deployed to showcase the character and quality of Buffalo's regional ingredients, but always taken to fun new places. While I wouldn't necessarily call his approach delicate, many of the plates take refinement fairly close to its edges. The dining room seats about 30 people mixed between individual tables and a New York City styled banquette, with about 15 more at the bar. Overall, the menu rejects the busy, something-for-everyone approach, in favor of quality over quantity. Typically, there are 8 or less entrees and about the same for small plates. The menu rotates seasonally and specials are regularly available, usually capturing a local ingredient find. Personally, I always appreciate a menu that fits on one page. You won't see a distractingly complicated wine list either but there are plenty to pair with anything on the menu and the staff is knowledgeable on their goods and always willing to lend a hand. Out front, co-owner Dan leads the team behind the beautiful white marble bar and they are crafting some of the best and most unique cocktails around. The bar is whiskey oriented, but not short of any libation you prefer, and similar to the kitchen, attentive to local brewers and distillers. Overall, take a trip to Billy Club. While you're there, I'd recommend talking to the staff and letting them give you a few pointers and guides. They're happy to help customize your experience. Reservations are always a good idea, especially on the weekends, but I've been many times with and without, and never had a problem. read more

Duck breast and rabbit pasta entree's were "next level". Inventive, bursting with flavor. So impressed. There are a number of restaurants of this type in Buffalo now. I guess you'd call it hipster or foodie. Think Buffalo Proper, the Black Sheep, or Marble and Rye. I was super excited to check this place out last night. What a great change and addition to Allentown! Walked in to a friendly hostess and were seated right away. I made a reservation, but it really wasn't busy surprisingly. Maybe because it was Wednesday at 845? Our server was super sweet and very attentive. We ordered the mushroom plate, which was amazing. Very unique flavors. We also split the salad which was good - nothing strikingly unique though. The best part was probably the fact that they made a special vegetarian dish for me. I didn't even ask - my bf asked if they had any other veg options, and she immediately said she could ask the chef to make me something off the menu. It was a fantastic dish of sautéed vegetables and coconut rice. Soooo good. My bf got the pork and said it was excellent - cooked perfectly. Nice cocktail/beer/wine list. Pretty much as expected! The only reason I took off 1 star is because of the ambiance. The walls are SO bare in there. It seems to lack personality, and made me actually think about the price of the food I was eating. Seemed a bit high to me without an experience to accompany it. Just even some minimalist art...anything.... One last thing or suggestion really - don't go here if you want to have quiet intimate conversation. It's very boomy and loud. I've been into Billy club twice now; once on a date and once by myself. Both times, I received excellent service, great ambiance, and well mixed drinks. I feel it is only fair to mention that, whether they intentionally copied them or not, several of the drink choices on the menu can be found elsewhere in the city under a similar name. The reason this review is not 5 stars is drink price. To be perfectly honest, the $10 drinks they are serving are $8 cocktails with a $2 upcharge for ambiance. If they just introduced a happy hour special or some other discount (like pretty much all of the classy/expensive bars in the city), this would be my favorite place to drink, hands down. It's just hard to justify going here regularly when I can get the same drink elsewhere in the city for 20% less. read more

Ever since I walked past the hip logo on this new gem, I was dying to go, but didn't have the opportunity. Then one night, after a Babel event, I made my way down there for a cocktail with my friend. It was not super crowded on a Wednesday night, and we got 2 seats at the beautiful bar. We enjoyed our drinks over conversation slowly, and weren't made to feel like we needed to order more than one, and were not rushed in any way. The decor was classy and modern, and I really like just BEING there. Finally, months later, I had the opportunity to go for brunch with a friend. The french toast was recommended to me, so that's what I got, and it was superb. Again, the staff was polite but didn't rush us or make me feel bad for only having water with my food (I'm pregnant, so no coffee or cocktail for me unfortunately!) The meal was excellent and in the bright sunshine of a Sunday afternoon the place was welcoming and inviting. This is equally great for a friends hang out for food, or to impress a date with a night cap- the location is perfect, the staff is wonderful, and the people who hang out there are adults. You will not feel unwelcome or unpleasant, it had a more mature crowd who is not there to pick up people or get shit-faced which on Allen can be a bit tough to find. read more

My sister and I brought my dad here today for Father's Day and all 3 of us left full and happy! Our service was incredible. Our server, I believe his name was Eric, was attentive and helpful, and genuinely wanted to make our meal a positive experience. The menu is small but contains a variety of unique dishes, so I believe there is something for everyone to enjoy. I ordered the omelette of the day, which was ham & cheese curds from Nickel City Cheese (love when restaurants use local shops!). It also came with hash and a small side salad. Huge portion; I took half of it home. Also ordered at the table was the pork rib hash and the biscuit sammy. We also shared the buckwheat pancakes which were delicious! The restaurant is small, with minimalist decor, which I really liked. The design elements that were included were neat, including lighting fixtures and artwork on the wall. Table has essential elements only, not cluttered with sugar packets, ketchup, etc. The waitstaff bring over those items as needed. Everything from the design from the menu is purposeful and appears to have been well thought out. No one at our table tried a cocktail, but the menu looked great. I look forward to coming back for some drinks, dinner, and hopefully another brunch experience as well. Definitely give Billy Club a try.
