This is the second time that we've been here, the first time was 10 years ago before they covered the deck. This is a little off the beaten path so it had a lot of locals as well as tourists that had either researched good breakfast places or had talked to locals. I had a blueberry pancake and one egg since I wasn't feeling very hungry. That seems like not much food but the pancake overhangs a dinner plate and is over 12" in diameter. This place exceeded all of my expectations! We arrived at 7:30am and it was already packed! But they keep people moving! We only had to wait 10 minutes and they have a station for kids to play with toys while you wait. They really thought of everything! Along with coffee and an assortment of mugs it felt like going to grandma's for breakfast! Everyone serving had a smile and were so friendly! Great service and great food! I am giving it 2 stars not because of the food. If this was based on the food it would be 5 stars. I search online for a good place to have breakfast. I saw this as a recommendations on multiple sites. We decided to go out of way before we headed home to support local establishments. There was a little wait, which is expected during brunch on a holiday weekend. After being seated, we were asked what would we like to drink and it was brought out immediately. This is where it started my disappointment; after the order was taken the server did not stop by to check on us. My boyfriends coffee was empty and no one offered to refill it. The server statuses n was only a matter of three tables away. Still no one stopped to see if we needed anything. The last thing happened as we were finishing up our brunch. Which I want to say again the food was much more than I expected. I heard one of the gentlemen shouting from the kitchen "Syphilis" multiple times. The server kept telling him to stop and he continued to blurt it out. This is extremely unprofessional and definitely uncalled for especially as there are customers present. Delish and peaceful, kitschy spot in the midst of a wooded campground area. Hours are 7-2:00 and they are cash only. We got there around 8 on a Sunday and had no wait but the place was getting pretty full when we left around 9. Service was fantastic with constant coffee refills. I had the $7.95 (I think) Denver scrambled egg meal which came with awesome hashbrowns and choice of bread. I opted for a light, fluffy biscuit. They also have pumpernickel rye and sourdough toast but these choices are $1 extra which I found really odd. My BF had a blueberry pancake and fried egg. As others have mentioned, all their cakes are gargantuan and one is plenty. They are sort of a cross between a pancake and a crepe in consistency. $3.95 (I think) was the single cake price. read more

I much prefer the Billy Gail's that is located close to Silver Dollar city over the one that is located on Gretna Road in Branson. If you're looking for comfort food and don't care anything about your calorie intake, then this might just be the Place for you. Each plate of food is absolutely huge and covered with all sorts of gravies and sauces that are a recipe for a heart attack. Got there around 7:45am and our party of 5 did not have to wait to be seated. That would not have been the case when we left--lots of people waiting for tables and I couldn't see any parking spaces left. Our food was wonderful so even if we would have had to wait for a table it certainly would have been worth it. Coffee was good and strong. Only thing I would've changed--wish they had creamer instead of near-skim milk for the coffee. I'm pretty picky about pancakes, and these were amazing! Not only large (fold into quarters so you're not spilling syrup on to the table because the pancake itself goes over the edges of the plate), but extremely tasty. Syrup was good, would've been even better warmed. I requested my eggs 'dry' and got them exactly how I wanted them, on the first try. Thank you! Sausage patties were excellent and about twice the size as those you buy in the freezer section of your local grocery store. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. This place is absolutely fantastic! My I have been bringing my kids here now for about 3 years and we look forward to each visit. The service here always makes me feel great... kind of like stepping back in time a little bit when the world was a bit kinder and people treated each other well, and with respect. It gets crowded here and can be a little difficult to get a parking space when it is busy - Especially if you have a larger vehicle. During these times, the wait can be 45-60 minutes, however it is WORTH IT. The are ample places inside and out to sit while you are waiting for your table and there is even an area for young children to play with toys. The food is fantastic - I love the huge pancakes. This place is a hidden gem!! It's not the easiest to find...but once you do get there it's amazing!! My favorite steak in town. I got the steak and eggs and that steak was done just to my liking...absolutley perfect! Mom had the steak and eggs too and she also loved it...she said she would've liked to have a bit more seasonings, but I loved it just the way it was. Dad tackled the belly buster...and boy the title is perfect for this meal. If you've seen the pancakes there you know that huge doesn't begin to explain the size of these hubcaps...well, the belly buster comes with 2 of them...plus 3 eggs, hashbrowns, toast, and 2 sausages. It was so good he finished almost the whole thing! He didn't eat much the rest of the day though :p We sat in the screened in porch. It was a little chilly in May when we went, but we wanted to sit out there and it was so nice. Just a little chill in the air...peaceful...it was a very enjoyable morning with great food and a beautiful atmosphere. Loved every minute of it. Can't wait to go back... But don't be in a hurry to get seated. Billy Gails is a very busy place full of locals and it can take a while to get a seat. The waitstaff is good though and they keep moving and make sure you're taken care of as quickly as possible without rushing you out the door. If you have time to take a look around, you should. They've got some garage sale type antiques for sale throughout the restaurant and a little wood burning shop next door. Billy Gails is nothing fancy...it's in an old closed down gas station and the old pumps are still outside. It's a little wooden building...very cozy and down home. LOVE IT!!
