First time here, had a bowl of menudo. Restaurant was nice and clean. Menudo was A bit pricey but the bowl was big. Came with 3 corn tortillas and the fixings but only two lemon slices. Not enough for such a large bowl. Once we were served the waitress never came back to check on us. :-( I needed additional lemons and some water for my husband but no one came. I finally was able to flag someone down about 30 min later, but by then food was cold. I like to eat my soups hot. Expensive lesson. read more

Food was good! Service was another story. It wasn't very packed when we went but our server kept forgetting about us. I also wanted to modify my order quite a bit which I know is probably annoying for them but for $17 I didn't want little mini waffles which I subbed and they use to give you actual chicken and not chicken tenders. I personally think if you're going to sell a chicken and waffles plate, you should be serving actual bone in fried chicken. But that's a rant for another time. Luckily, the chicken tenders were actually really good and seasoned so I'll give them that. The waffle was good too. Dining area was kind of eh. Billy Js is always a c great experience. Besides the relaxing atmostphere, set it the 50s & 60a American music, the noise level is low. The service from pleasant greetings at the door to just the right timing for the server to check on you has been priceless over the years. Now, the chefs usually nail this part with seasoning, flavor consistency to food presentation and portions as well. This iconic treasure is where I bring our of town guests. read more

I used to come to this restaurant with my grandparents, it used to be so welcoming and brought back memories now I cannot eat there I walked out of there the other day without eating. I am allergic to Pork, I let the waitress know this and said I want a grilled chicken sandwich and fries I could not eat fries because they fry their bacon in the same fryer for the fries which means people who are Vegan, vegetarian, or for religious purposes need to be aware. We have found other restaurants that do this also. I believe this is a health and ethical code violation. read more

Was my favorite sport and despite their rudeness I would still go back but not no more. For it being a mom and pop restaurant family owned you would think their customer service would be great especially from the owners but NO the wife is always looking like she smelled shit with that face and not kind at all. I ordered a club sandwich which is pretty big to share with a friend and she ordered a Coke and I an ice tea with extra lemons. When we got the bill without tell us they charged us for the extra plate 2.00 and almost 3.00 for the lemons for my ice tea!!! Who does that especially for a hole in the wall restaurant it's not like we were at Flemings. I used to love coming here but lately I've been disappointed with my visits. I stopped coming for a year because once I was sat no one came to our table to get our drinks or greet us. We sat there for 20mins (or more) and we decided to just walk out. Today we decided to try again with this place so we came and got sat right away. This was at 12:20pm it wasn't busy inside. Yet we left again at 12:40pm because no one got our drinks, or greeted us. I don't understand what the problem is. This place went downhill. Customer service sucks. Came in for brunch while at the hospital across the street. My wife and I ordered different menu items to give them a try. Everything was delicious! Very flavorful. I have been coming for years! With my grandparents, parents and my kids and has never disappointed us ever. Now I bring my grandchildren and they also enjoy all the good food options. My father after he had a procedure done across the street at Kaiser wanted to eat breakfast since he had to fast for over 30 hours. We went to his favorite place Leo's kitchen which is down the street, but there fryers broke, so we decided to come here since we use to eat here a lot when I was younger. I ordered a veggie burger with fries since I am vegetarian, and he ordered the 2 eggs breakfast that comes with toast and has browns for $12.99. Upon getting my food I noticed a piece of bacon on my plate luckily there were barely any fries so it left a open spot for the bacon that I took off and did not say anything to the waiter. After receiving the bill I noticed my dad's $12.99 2 egg breakfast was $16.97? I asked the cashier why is it that price when it was $12.99 on the menu he stated that because raw onions and bell peppers were added to hash brown, so that is why they charged $4.00 more. I am sorry, but the food was awful tasting small posteriors and overpriced. Upsetting also that I do not eat meat and was served a veggie burger with meat on my basket. They serve the burger in a small basket. We definitely will not be back and I do NOT recommend this place to anyone. read more

Man oh man, what a find. We had a little time to kill before going to a Medical appt and saw this place while heading to Dennys. Reluctantly we decided to take a chance and it was the best decision we've made in a while. The place is clean and decorated in classic style diner like old car, movie stars and music. The waitress was very nice and we got our meal in a reasonable time and it was hot. Just how I like it! Try this place out. We has a lovely, relaxing dinner at Billy J's tonight! Cute place, played oldies radio, accommodating of my mobility scooter. My wife's top sirloin was very tender, cooked rare the way she likes it with a fluffy baked potato and a crisp salad. My special order patty melt (with Ortega chile's on sourdough) was perfect, and the potato soup was thick and creamy with lots of potatoes. Amazing food, women working there are always so friendly and inviting. Never have any issues eating here whether it's takeout or dine in. My mom called in an order for takeout and the food was hot and on time for pick up. I will mention though that Cesar wasn't very friendly and gave the impression that we were an inconvenience to him when picking up. I immediately offered to buy a drink just to qualify as a customer, but the older man still refused to let me use it. I came here with a friend a few days ago. We were seated right away. Our waitress was an older lady and when we told her that we needed some time to look at the menu she nodded and walked away. The waitress wasn't pleasant and they got both orders wrong. I order an avocado sandwich and I asked for it to not have bacon. Ordered the special and it was county fried cube steak with German potatoes and eggs and biscuits and gravy. Way to much food so brought, leftovers home and that was delicious too. The outside doesn't look like much But on the plus side, ample parking! As soon as you walk in, you're smacked in the face with music from times when color on television was unheard of. "I love lucy" memorabilia as well as an Elvis wall welcomes you into the diner. The fact that they're not stingy on their gravy is a huge plus... because if I find another restaurant that serves dry biscuits and gravy, I will boycott them. The omelet was good and filling however I'd probably go with the regular fries next time instead of these home fries of some sort.. just personal preference. They were kind of hash browns, kind of potato slices. Not a huge fan. The turkey club however was good and I'd be really upset if they messed up a sandwich ‍ Overall if you ever want to just chill somewhere and feel like you've time traveled to the 50's, then this would be a good spot to do just that. read more

Thank you Billy J's for taking us in late just before closing. Everything I saw online said they closed at 9. My family and I (party of 7) arrived at 7:40, apparently they close at 8. The kind folks at Billy J's still seated us and provided great service and some surprisingly good food. Not once did they mention anything about it being closing time. That service is tremendously appreciated! We will definitely be back for more soon read more
