Visiting my home town of Mt Holly, NC, we tried to coordinate a meal with family but only were able to so for breakfast. We had eaten great seafood & BBQ in the past but I never realized they also had great breakfast also. Six of us, including my 99 year young Aunt, met at 8:00 AM at Billy's. From a broad menu, I chose my regional favorite - livermush. A mix of pork cuts, excluding the prime cuts, ground & simmered with spices and cornmeal. Similar to Scrapple but has a good amount of liver, which makes it healthier than bacon, ham or sausage. But not much availability outside south central NC. Mine with over easy eggs and grits. My wife chose the Western omelette. Two others also choose the same meal as mine. The meat was crispy outside and soft inside, perfect! Some places serve two thinner slices but Billy's has one thicker and larger slice. Eggs were perfect and grits were devine, and a lot of grits, couldn't eat all. My wife also loved the omelette. Coffee was hot and great, refills often. Service was great, even when we stretched our meal to share conversations. Breakfast, BBQ, seafood - they do it all well!

Chopped BBQ sandwich, Fries and something that they called "Cole slaw" but tastes more like applesauce

I've been looking for a BBQ spot by my work for a little bit now. I will not be back here. The service was really slow. I ordered to-go food, when I showed up I saw my food on the counter. I watched a few servers walk around and look at me without anyone greeting me. After about 8 minutes of standing at the counter one of the servers comes up to the counter and asks if I had a to-go order. I said yes and held out my card, she turned around and walked in the kitchen. I almost walked out when I heard the woman call someone from the back to come greet me. Another woman walks out and asks what I need.... I told her I had placed a to-go order. She looks around and I pointed to the bag on the counter and she looks at it and says "oh, I think this is your food." They weren't rude or anything, just very low functioning. Then I got back to work and opened my food..... Just to be straight forward, this was the soggiest food I have ever eaten, the fries had no salt or seasoning, the barbecue was very bland, and the "Cole slaw" was apple flavored and very watery at the bottom. The bun and fries were soaking wet when I opened the box which I understand happens with to go food but they shouldn't be dripping... I'm not sure who taught these people to cook but I would not count this place as a barbecue restaurant. Bad service is fixable, bad cooking is not. I'm sorry!

Good country restaurant when your not in a rush. The reviews are great but the food was good. They are understaffed. Service was great considering she was solo. If you want a meat and 2 sides and aren't in a rush, this is a good choice. Atmosphere is nothing fancy. Think old, tired diner.

This is where the locals eat. Make sure to ask what's good from your waitress, ours was straight up and told us the meatloaf is terrible! Haha. They have a good selection of food to choose from with large portions. We had a great meal and Yes the sweet tea is good! Sure it's no cool trendy spot but if you want some good ol family food with a diner feel then this is the spot.

This spot was decided upon because it was local and close to our job site. The staff was nice and the food was alright. I do not have much to say about this place.

My mom brought me here because she has been several times and says its good (she's a tough critic). I had the lasagna which was a nice sized portion and pretty good I must say. It came with a fresh salad and the dressing was homemade, not the watered down stuff. My sister ate the pork chops and said those were good and the fries were crispy and delicious. My mom has tried everything but this time she had a BBQ sandwich and claimed she would order it again. The staff was very friendly and cordial. My only complain was the stuffing in the booths are a little worn out and not so comfy anymore.

Great food and went there for years, but stopped when the bathroom was locked on me, and think customers were in on it. Will never be back.

This is our second visit here, and our first time with the dinner menu. There were lots of great choices! We tried the hush puppies appetizer and the deviled eggs to start. Great presentation and delicious. For entrees we went with the chicken and gravy, fish tacos and the love bug smash burger. Huge portions and really really good. We were very full afterward. We wanted to have a little more leisurely time there, maybe try a dessert, but we had to be at an event, so there was a time constraint. Overall, this is a great spot in downtown Belmont. The pimento was delicious, but serving it with a 'cheesy ' bread took away from the flavor of their delicious recipe.

There were several "reserved" tables that remained empty until after we had finished eating, so I think the restaurant could benefit from a better reservation system with more accurate buffer times to accommodate walk-in guests. To avoid the wait, we decided to sit at the bar, and I'm glad we did because the food was amazing. The fried chicken and waffles were perfectly seasoned, and the waffle had a unique texture and flavor that reminded me of a combination of a traditional waffle and a soft pretzel. The cheesy potato cake was absolutely delicious. The fruit bowl was also good, but I wish they had been a little more generous with the blueberry pudding. The shrimp and grits came with large tomatoes, which may not be for everyone, and my friend felt the dish was lacking grits overall. She didn't feel like she got her money's worth. Would I go back? Absolutely. My meal was delicious, and I can't wait to return and try more of their homemade, fresh dishes. I also think it's great that they partner with local farmers to help curate their menu.

Ridiculous. The Dinner Menu is posted on front of the restaurant AND online, with no mention the limited menu was the only option. Our server told us he completely understood our dissatisfaction, and said that we were welcome to go elsewhere. At that point, we didn't have the time to shift gears or we would have done so. While 3 of 4 couldn't get what we came in for, the food we had was good. Duck & Dumplings was probably the best dish. Two got the Shrimp & Grits and said it was good. My Ceasar Salad with chicken was pretty tasty, too. Service from Devon was very good and food runners delivered food to the right spots without prompting. I went back later in the evening for a bite and cocktail at the bar and I was completely ignored. Bartenders kept just clearing and taking orders from people walking up. Infuriating. Its a shame that the restaurant is just poorly managed.

I recently stopped by the restaurant in the Charlotte Westin: Dogwood Southern Table and Bar. The…read morespace was airy, modern and light with a 360 degree bar, high ceilings and well spaced tables. I was intrigued by the item "Chef's Bite", that's it, no further explanation. As I suspected, it was an 'amuse bouche' offered from the kitchen. Today it was a Deviled Egg with a mustard-forward center, even containing black mustard seeds for flavor and crunch. As a fan of Sicilian arancini, I ordered the Dogwood's version as an appetizer. I was surprised to see several small rice balls, the size of hush puppies. I was expecting a single larger offering; 'arancini' after all mean orange in Italian. The risotto spheres were stuffed with pimento cheese and instead of the typical marina sauce, the kitchen had substituted a tomato jam with a subtle sweet finish. It was a successful southern riff on a Sicilian standard. Although I had been directed to order the Duck and Dumplings, my eye drifted to the Shrimp and Grits. I hadn't had much Carolinian food this trip.... The dish did not disappoint. It was amply loaded with flavorful shrimp and accented with good-quality andouille sausage slices, all over a well executed plate of grits. Service was prompt, professional and knowledgeable. This one is going in the book to return to.
