We had such a great experience! Matt was amazing server with great recommendations on what to get. I fully trusted my order with him and was so surprised at the taste. He recommended the sweet potato pancakes paired with the banana pudding and oh my goodness. You won't be disappointed - I'd not even like sweet potato that much. The vibe and aura of the space is amazing. Well lit, spacious and tall ceilings. It's the perfect spot for your Sunday brunch!

Had a nice brunch before a show here on Sunday morning. The restaurant is very bright and lively, and we were seated very quickly when we arrived. I love the charming decor and look of the place, very homey feeling right in the middle of the city. Our server took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. My choice is easy if shrimp and grits is on the menu, so that was it for me. We also had the chicken and waffles and the dish looked very yummy. The shrimp were tasty and the sauce has a nice kick from the chorizo. Really good. Just wish this came with a side veggie or a small salad. Some entrees come with sides, while others don't. Food is really good, place has a relaxing atmosphere and we had a nice experience. Will definitely come back again.

Crispy Chicken Tenders and Mac and cheese

For a chain- they continue to do chicken tenders to perfection. Great breading and juicy chicken. The Mac and cheese had flavor and came out hot and creamy. The restaurant was clean, well-lit and was welcoming. The service is where this particular spot could improve. The server took almost 10mins to get to the table in a 1/4 full restaurant. My order came out incorrect and it was corrected right away, albeit adding another 5-8 mins onto the wait time.

The look of the place was very inviting. The menu was simple and everything sounded good. We tried the two different chicken sandwiches that had spicy in the description. Neither was particularly flavorful but the bread was nice and chicken was cooked well. The fries and macaroni and cheese were better in my opinion. I tried the Magic Lemonade which was interesting and tasted great. I found it a little pricey for what we got, but it would be a nice meeting place if you lived or were staying downtown.

If I lived in the area I could see my self frequenting this place. Large space, nice menu. Food was good, not great but worth a try. The service was very good. Prices fair. I suggest you give it a try

My wife and I had a fantastic lunch here and left completely satisfied. She ordered the avocado chicken sandwich, which arrived on a gorgeous golden brioche bun with a crisp side salad loaded with fresh cherry tomatoes, cucumber, shredded cheddar, croutons, and a creamy dressing on the side. Beautifully presented and delicious. I went with the dark chicken prepared classic style using the Bee Dust preparation method -- and wow. The fried chicken was absolutely phenomenal. The crust had that perfect crunch and the seasoning was spot on. My sides were a house salad with honey Dijon mustard (outstanding) and fried okra that was crispy, generously portioned, and cooked perfectly. Pickles on the side were a great touch too. Honestly, my only "complaint" -- and I use that term very loosely -- is that I wished there was an extra chicken thigh on my plate. That's not really a complaint; that's just my love for great fried chicken talking. (And honestly, it's probably better for me that I didn't have one!) Everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. We'll definitely be back!

We almost turned around when we walked in -- the place was so quiet you could hear the ice melting in the bar well. But plot twist: give it twenty minutes and suddenly it's the spot. Either word spread fast, or everyone in town collectively decided to be fashionably late. My wife started with a Bloody Mary but swapped in tequila, because she likes her brunch drinks with a side of chaos. I went for something called "Blood in the Water," which sounds way more dramatic than it is -- basically a New York Sour with an identity crisis. Still, credit where it's due: it slapped. Now, let's talk food. My wife's sweet and spicy chicken was so good it could make a rotisserie chicken from Costco file for early retirement. The greens and mac & cheese were top-tier co-stars -- comforting, creamy, and absolutely enabling. I got the shrimp and grits -- rich, flavorful, and dangerously close to making me believe I have Southern roots. Could I have added hot sauce? Sure. Did it need it? Nope. This dish knew who it was and didn't need dressing up. And as if that wasn't enough, they've got happy hour from 4-6 every day, which feels like a personal invitation I fully plan to abuse. Bottom line: this place started slow but ended like a standing ovation. I came in skeptical and left plotting my next visit -- and maybe my next order of that life-altering chicken.

I took my mom to here for her 67th birthday because she wanted brunch, and it couldn't have been a better choice. From the start, the service was accommodating--our booth was a little too snug, and without hesitation they moved us to a comfy window table. Small detail, big difference. The food? Amazing. Honestly, people can be so nitpicky with food reviews, but here's my rule: if the flavor is there, the vibes are good, and you enjoy yourself--it's 5 stars. And that's exactly what this was. My sister, who usually despises goat cheese, was ready to fight when she found out it was in her grits. But the cheese was subtle, creamy, and blended so well she had nothing to complain about (miracle achieved). The whole atmosphere was warm. The staff was cheerful, no one had "bad day" energy, and they let us linger as one of the last tables while I snapped a few birthday photos of my mom. They made her feel comfortable and celebrated, and that's priceless. Overall, everything was perfect--food, service, energy. I'll definitely be back, and Pillow Honey has officially earned a spot in my "take the family here" rotation.

AI: Can you describe how Tupelo Honey prepares the Mac & Cheese Waffle
    Evelyn H.

Only giving any stars because I can't post without giving at least one. Decided to take myself out for a pre-birthday lunch. Was feeling for fried chicken and asked myself "why haven't you been to Tupelo in a while???" Could not recall at the moment, but now I remember. And will tell you why I definitely will not be back. I sat at thr bar for quicker service. I ordered the honey dusted whole piece chicken and the mac & cheese waffle. Asked for it in a to-go box because I knew I would only eat a little and take it back to the office. I received two chicken tenders, plain waffles and a small side of Mac & cheese. When I told my server it was not what I ordered, rather than admitting to getting the order wrong, she proceeded to explain to me that it is what I ordered, but that is how they prepare the mac & cheese waffle when it's to-go. I asked three times is it not mac & cheese prepared as a waffle. I would have accepted this, but I am very familiar with the preparation of a mac & cheese waffle, so I asked that she double-check with the kitchen or manager. Minutes later the manager came out to speak with the other black woman at the bar, who was leaving the restaurant (I can only imagine how the guest was described to the manager when the server went to get her). Once she noticed she should be speaking with me, I asked her to confirm the preparation of the mac & cheese waffle. She told me the waffle is topped with mac & cheese and served, that it is not cooked as a waffle. I then told her I did not want plain waffles or a side of mac & cheese, but I did want chicken. When she did not offer anything else, I said I'll just have the chicken and gave her the mac and waffles back. I did tell her I think the menu should reflect their preparation process, but she explained to me that how it shows on the menu is out of her control. After a few mins of sitting there looking at my big container of 2 chicken tenders, with my Birthday Happy deflated, I realized this did not feel like a celebration meal and told the server I would not be eating there today

Drop Biscuits For A Cause with peach jam
    Kimberly S.

Warm and inviting environment but the southern food was a let down. The chicken looked to be well seasoned but lacked a depth of flavors and was somewhat bland in taste. The mac and cheese also wasn't very good. I enjoyed the warm drop biscuits, the peach jam was also lite on flavor.

Great place for Southern food in Charlotte. I really like the chicken and waffles and the fried green tomatoes! The service is great and it's close to lots of stuff to do in downtown Charlotte! Park at a structure and walk there. I highly recommend in Charlotte!

I came for lunch and it started out pretty empty then quickly filled up! After trying the spicy chicken and waffles I can see why! The chicken was amazing! It was tangy and moist and absolutely delicious! The waffle was a good Belgian waffle! The goat cheese grits were pretty tasty too! The decor inside was pretty cute and the ambiance was relaxed and friendly! The service was a little slow but worth the wait for the food!

Must try: Asheville Hot with Mac-N-Cheese Waffles, Fried Okra, Mud Pie, and Mimosas! Why: Traveling for work so had to get my Southern food fix. Started with Fried Okra, which I've been craving for a year! Loved the Mac-N-Cheese Waffles with Fried Chicken. Large portion and easily shareable since it's two waffles. Sipped on a refreshing Apple Cider Mimosa. My friend and I finished our meal sharing Pudding and a Mud Pie. That Mud Pie was special with crunchy crust and rich chocolate. Very much enjoyed entire meal! Notes: We came on a Sunday at 6:30pm for dinner. We were seated immediately. Large dining area with lots of seats for small and large parties. We had a cute circular booth in corner, which felt semi-private for us to have good catch up time. Workers were all super friendly, helpful, and attentive from host to server. They also had a sign closing a wee bit early to take care of their employees, which I thought was admirable. Can't wait to come back!

It's one…read moreof those comfort foods I don't eat often because it's so rich--but when I see it on a menu, it absolutely catches my attention. That's exactly what drew me to The Southern Pecan in SouthPark. Here in the South, they call it country fried steak, and I'm happy to report this one did not disappoint. I met a colleague there for lunch, and everything about the experience felt easy from the start. The restaurant is located in Phillips Place, a lovely little shopping area that feels a bit polished and upscale--with shops like Orvis, Tory Burch, and even a Restoration Hardware restaurant nearby. They do offer valet parking, which is a nice touch, though honestly parking is easy enough on your own. We had reservations through OpenTable and were seated on the patio, which was absolutely delightful for this time of year in Charlotte. The weather was perfect, the setting was relaxed, and the service started off warm and welcoming right away. Now, the food. The country fried steak was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender inside, and served with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy that hit all the nostalgic notes from my Texas upbringing. I paired it with a vegetable side (I believe it was broccoli or corn), and it was a classic Southern plate done right. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails, and to finish, we split a praline bread pudding, which felt like the perfect Southern ending to the meal--sweet, comforting, and indulgent without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and one of the things I continue to appreciate about Charlotte is how easy it is to connect with people. We even chatted with diners at nearby tables, which added to that welcoming, community feel that makes dining out here so enjoyable--especially for someone coming from the Bay Area. Prices felt fair for the quality, the setting, and the portion sizes, and overall the experience left a great impression. Bottom line: If you're craving a solid Southern classic like country fried steak--or just want a relaxed patio lunch in a charming part of SouthPark--The Southern Pecan is definitely worth a visit. And as someone happily eating my way through Charlotte and the Southeast, this stop was another reminder that the journey has been a delicious one.

I've heard rave reviews about this place so Michelle & I went for Sunday Brunch…read more They recommended a reservation so we had one @ 12n. It was already quite busy when we arrived and it's not clear where your parking options are. People are pulling up to the entrance and dropping people off so it gets jammed up and chaotic, of course people are running late so those BIG Yukons and Suburbans are making it a challenge to navigate a small entrance area. You would THINK they would at least have a Valet option of Sat/Sun during Brunch. To park, go BEHIND the restaurant on the street to the left and you'll see some free parking options that are close and walkable. We asked for a table on the patio and were immediately seated. The bar was already buzzing with solo diners enjoying their Mimosas. The patio is NOT that big, a little over crowded and table are very close with not much space in between. There was a LARGE group of 'FUN' ladies right beside us enjoying their MIMOSAS, dropping the 'F' bomb from time to time and making a LOT of noise. What can you do? Nothing but try to make the best of it and just start talking LOUDER like everyone else. The OVERHEAD heaters were way too intense so the Staff was very responsive at our request to turn down the heat. We shared the BBQ Shrimp Starter which was SO good, I highly recommend. I had the Gumbo and Michelle had the beet and goat cheese salad. We both had the Red Fish which comes with smashed potatoes and broccoli. The potatoes were so BLAND, the broccoli had NO seasoning. The Red Fish wasn't that great of a flavor and not very tender, not easy to cut, had to use my knife at times to get a bite. Kinda disappointed, I lived in N Orleans for a couple of years and it was always so good there. The biggest disappointment was the Gumbo. It had all the right ingredients but the ROUX was to strong, dark and heavy. It actually gave me indigestion afterwards. The service was OUTSTANDING. Our Server was Daylean, she was so nice and helpful with the menu and kept our refills coming.

The fried chicken thigh, their claim to fame, was sadly a bit dry and stringy and overly breaded. It also must have been a pretty scrawny chicken. The sides, however, were fantastic! The mac and cheese was just the right amount of creamy, the addition of the crunchy crispy skin is an absolute must! The dill green beans were cooked a perfect al dente and so flavorful. The biscuit was full of flaky layers. Sebastian was our server and he gave us very good recommendations. He was so sweet too. Super sleek steam-punky ambiance with an indoor and outdoor seating area. The first interaction was like we had stepped into someone's home and were told to make ourselves at home. And the rest was the same. The gentleman walked us through the menu. Pretty much the entire line up of options. Not a condescending or impatient tone - warm and welcoming. Same with the next person. Even convinced my friend to get a dessert. Not that I need my arm twisted. The dining area was well kept. Clean. The condiments were well stocked and organized. I saw two different team members taking care of business there even asking if I needed anything. Bathrooms were immaculate. Don't see that very often - at least I don't in public places. The food was what we were looking for. Comfort food. With taste, not muted - just good flavor and consistency. A far cry from the bland, dry foods we had experienced the days prior. It was one of the first meals I really enjoyed on this trip to NC. Not saying that others were bad - they just didn't align with my taste preferences/expectations. Something about how Fried Chicken and Pork Chops are prepared in the South (or NOT California). Tender. Juicy. Mac & Cheese - not watery or overcooked. And I don't think I've ever had bad collared greens in my life. It's one of the handful of green vegetables I love having. Almost forgot parking. It's in kinda a plaza/strip mall setting. Free space and lots when we went (lunch). Not having to look for or pay for parking is always a plus for me. So, it's a chain. But I'd definitely go back. I almost ordered more but was saving the stomach space for dinner.

The two of us shared the Well fed sampler that feeds 1-2 ppl (approximately a pound of meat). Huge understatement: this was a ton of food! With the well fed, you get your choice of four meats and two sides. We got the pulled pork, pork ribs, brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage. For sides, we got the borracho beans and Jalapeño poppers. The sampler also comes with hushpuppies and pickles. For the brisket, you can choose between fatty, lean or a combo. I got fatty and when it arrived, boy did that slice of brisket glisten! So juicy and delicious! Also loved the jalapeño cheese sausage and the pulled pork was super smoky flavored. My favorite was dousing it with the bbq and vinegar sauce together. The side of pickles was welcome as it really helped cut the richness. The ribs were half a rack! So generous, but too salty. The jalapeño poppers were good and so were the borracho beans. Our first time trying borracho, which are Mexican/Tex-Mex style. So yah, all our meats came out "plain" and I asked for all the sauces on the side. Loved mixing and matching them all!

How it works: Follow @so_science on Instagram, and they'll post the week's menu over the weekend. The themes vary every week, so keep an eye on it! You have until midnight on Tuesday to email them with your order. On Wednesday morning, you get an email with payment and pick-up details, and then you swing by the back of the church between 4 and 7 PM on Wednesday to pick up your goods! Pretty easy process, especially if you live close by. So far we've gotten dishes from their BBQ menu (brisket, bbq beans, cheese and mac) and their Greek menu (moussaka with side Greek salad, gyro with fries). Everything is restaurant quality. Let me rephrase: everything is excellent restaurant quality! Like what I would expect if I went to a BBQ joint or Greek spot that specialize in that type of cuisine. Pretty incredible. We originally found out about HA's from a neighbor, and I added this business page to Yelp to be able to share my photos and experiences to help spread the word about this awesome local spot!

We shared the charred oysters and I really with we had gotten a dozen because they were perfection! I had the Wagyu burger which was 1/2 pound and I brought half of it home. It was complimented with truffle shoestring fries. Great portion sizes, amazing service and beautiful decor. I will surely come back. Hope I get sat in Natasha's section again she was amazing! The staff stood out, both our waitress and the other waiters were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. We ordered a mix of food for the table: tacos, fried pickles, steak and fries, cauliflower, and a burger. The highlights for us were definitely the fried pickles and the cauliflower--both were good and something I'd come back for. Everything else was just alright, hence the reason I deducted a star. We also loved that there was a pool table it added a lot to the experience but I do wish it was free instead of $2 a game. Still, not a dealbreaker. Overall, it's a great spot with a fun atmosphere, good food, and attentive service. Definitely worth checking out, especially for trivia night.

I was saddened to see them close down during the Covid pandemic, and was very happy to see them come back! Unfortunately my office isn't as close by and I don't find myself Uptown as often anymore so it's taken me a while to come visit. I got to finally rectify that after a Hornets game found me close by and in need of a beverage. It was just how I remembered it. The bartenders were friendly, there was a mix of local regulars and some curious out-of-towners. The vibes were great and so was the Guinness. Whether you live or work Uptown and are in need of a new regular watering hole, or you find yourself massing through, The Daily is a great place to take a load off and enjoy some hearty food and strong drinks.
