I have known Jimmy since 2007, never had a problem had a decent bacon egg and cheese. Not the best mind you but decent. Friday I had to go somewhere and be there at noon but I saw his truck at the restaurant and the window didn't have the blind down so I thought it might be possible he was still open I drove around and waited at the window but no one came normally he's right there. So I just figured since it was quarter to 12:00 and they closed at 11:00 he was busy cleaning up. I drove off and went to my other appointment. And Saturday decided to stop by and get a biscuit like I have been doing for a long time and he came completely unglued, told me to never treat him with disrespect again and then basically gave my card back without placing my order and told me to never come back to his restaurant again. read more

Owners are great people, gravy biscuit plates were amazing, steak biscuits to die for...unfortunately, he's pretty much given up on Saturdays. I just ate here for the first time and I must say it was delicious! They are drive thru only at the time of writing this(nothing wrong with that) They did forget to put in my bacon and they didn't have pancakes available but despite this the visit was near perfect. The gentleman at the window was very welcoming and nice. They made it apparent that they weren't able to make pancakes but gave a recommendation to get French toast instead. Ultimately a great ordering experience and vibe with little room for mistake. The food as stated before was delicious. The biscuits and tea are easily the best I've had. Perfect taste of warm southern breakfast! The french toast was fantastic and makes me excited to try more of the menu. With the great taste it filled me up quick and left little to no room for more. If the quality of the food stays consistent I can easily see myself becoming a regular. read more

Could not actually tell you how the food is here. Drove approximately 30 minutes to get here and it turns out that the dining room is closed and it is drive thru service only. Anyone ever try to eat biscuits and gravy while driving on winding roads? While some of you might say that I should have called ahead, I did to confirm their hours and they never answered the phone. First time here. Drive thru...Owner took our order. Gave our chihuahua a piece of bacon because she growled. Nice guy, told us about animals around the world going in circles-sheep, goats, maggots...then ended by saying we have a mighty god. That aside, wife had biscuit w/ham but ordered bacon. Still was very good. I had eggs over hard with bacon & biscuits & gravy. We both agreed the biscuits are best we ever had! Very fluffy & light. Tea was a bit dated & coffee was good. I've lived in the Northeast for the past 5 years, and often crave Southern cooking. There's no denying that Billy's is the real deal. I'm a fan of Chick-fil-A chicken biscuits, but Billy's biscuits blow these babies out of the breakfast ballpark. They are large and fluffy, encasing a deliciously fried chunk of chicken. My mom tried to go a bit lighter and ordered an egg and cheese biscuit, which she described as good, but I saw her surreptitiously eyeing my mouth-watering chicken. That's where it's at. Billy, the owner and personality of the establishment, is also the real deal. He's an absolute hoot (a term I don't use often to decribe people)! He seems to know everyone who walks in, and if he somehow doesn't, he'll sure as heck get to know you. He talked to us before and during our meal about everything from the restaurant to his relationship with God. This included showing us pictures on his cellphone of his motorcycle covered in Christian symbols and an image of "satan" that briefly flashed on his TV while he was watching a game show. You can't make this stuff up. If you find yourself in Dawsonville, definitely stop on in for a truly authentic (and memorable) Southern breakfast experience. read more

If there is one thing a country boy knows, it's breakfast southern style. This is a quaint Cash Only diner, but the amount of food you get for the price is absolutely mind-blowing. Some people say "If it's cheap, it can't be good" - and this place blows that theory out of the water. I had the big nasty, which is a mammoth sized Steak Biscuit, smothered in Gravy, covered with an egg, cheese and sausage (or Bacon if you're so inclined) The sum of all of that together, was pretty well. The weakest part of it, was the gravy (I like mine thick, but so few places do that) , and the strongest part was the biscuit. The staff was over the top friendly, and I'd go back again. The service wasn't very good; the tea was not good at all. But the thing that threw me off the most is the enormous Confederate flag in the back that says, "I'm not coming down for anyone." ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST! So, my husband and I have been curious about this little restaurant for a while and we thought that our visit to the Moonshine Festival would provide the perfect opportunity to eat here. We arrive around 7:`15 when it is still dark and relatively quiet. We seat ourselves and our waitress quickly arrives. We place our orders for the sausage omelet platter which comes with grits or gravy and a biscuit. Now, I never order grits or gravy, but this time I just said grits. My husband adds hash browns to his order. Our order arrives relatively quickly and it looks like a great deal of food. The omelet looks great but is filled with too much sausage. I have to remove half of the sausage so that I can eat the omelet. Although the sausage tastes great, (not greasy or salty), it just overwhelmed the omelet. The bread that they refer to as a biscuit is not what I consider a biscuit. It was not light, tender, flavorful or delicious. It had a really hard texture and if you tap it, it is like tapping a wooden table. I was not able to simply pull it apart but had to aggressively tear it with my hands and a utensil. This thing was not really edible for either of us and was left on the plate. I don't expect anyone to be able to cook grits as I prefer them so these were as expected soft, mushy and inedible. This is a very "country" menu as their version of a vegetable omelet contained only onions and tomatoes. When I am looking for a veggie omelet, I prefer broccoli, spinach, mixed peppers or asparagus. I taste my husband's hash browns and they were definitely not fresh and had an odd taste, (too processed). I prefer my breakfast potatoes hand made with the skin left on. The decor was country eclectic but cool with its old school bench seating and unmatched dining chairs. The hallway wall next to the bathrooms was covered in denim and had had been signed by visitors. Our waitress was a real Georgia peach, (sweet) and provided great service! Unfortunately we will not be making a return visit to Billy's as the menu is just too limited. ***Billy only accepts cash and checks, no credit cards or debit cards ***If the sight of the Confederate Battle Flag offends you, you may want to consider other options because there is a large one prominently displayed in the restaurant. read more

I've gone to church up here most my life, and every Sunday we drive by this place and say, "One day we should stop there." We finally did! And it was a great decision. If you are coming just for the biscuits, I wouldn't give them the highest rating, but paired with the fried chicken and crispy bacon, it was awesome. This is a good option for Dawsonville near the square. I live right off of the square and you have to drive ten minutes to get anywhere other that Billy's, Subway, or Bo-jangles for breakfast. He was very pleasant and told me that they have also just started serving lunch. The biscuit was $2.40. It was huge. It was ok. I've had better, but it was still alright. I stopped in for breakfast one morning while waiting for some friends to go ride with and decided ahead of time I'd just get a gravy biscuit. The waitress suggested to get a side of bacon and I did and it was great. I liked the biscuit as well although I don't think most southerners consider this a "real" biscuit as it was too flat but it had a good flavor and it was nice and crispy on the bottom.
