    Chicken beignets
    Mary N.

Now watch me whip, now watch me beignet nae. Better quality than the place in Downtown Disney in California! Plenty of parking with kind staff. There's not a lot of seating though. The beignet is in between airy and doughy. Slider- would get it without the powdered sugar because it already has syrup/honey in it. It's like a McGriddle but better Chicken and beignets- pretty good, crunchy popcorn-chicken-sized pieces . Good to try once but I wouldn't get again Pomegranate tapioca syrup is just for a limited time so we tried that. The flavor grew on me and it cut the sweetness of the beignets nicely because of the tanginess.

Came in one day wanting to have a quick lunch. They weren't offering sandwiches at the time because they didn't have something they needed. I forgot what they were missing. I ended up grabbing a couple beignets to take home instead. When it's warm and fresh, the beignets are really good. Not too sweet or too doughy. I think they were priced okay. The shop was empty when I came in, but a couple people came in a few minutes later. The shop is really cozy and clean. they have the cutest decorations. If there are a lot of people stopping by, I think it can get crowded really easily. They have a lot of people who come for a quick take away though. Service was good. Beignets were good. Shop was clean and cozy. I'd be back to try the sandwiches when I get a chance.

Flight of 6 Beignets with 3 dippers

Got these from their food truck and maybe that's why it wasnt great. It was stale and biscuit-like. Was hoping for light and airy. Dips were also old, so much so it separated.

6 Beignets w/chocolate, apple butter, and strawberry (?) dippers

Tried a beignet a few times at family gatherings but I've never been to the shop and grabbed anything for myself so we made a late morning trip over. It wasn't really busy on the Sunday morning we visited so there was plenty of parking. The interior is a little small but nicely decorated. Staff looked a little busy but were friendly. We ordered 6 beignets with 3 dippers (chocolate, apple butter, and (I think) strawberry), a Gumbo'd Shrimp bowl of grits, and a grilled peach iced tea. Only took about 5 minutes to put everything together and we were out. The food traveled well. The beignets were light and fluffy and the dippers were really good. My favorite might be the strawberry (or whatever the pinkish one was). It was definitely a lot sweeter than other beignets I've had because it was both glazed and covered in powdered sugar. I think they would've been perfect without the glaze. The grit bowl was good. Shrimp were kind of small but there were a lot of them. Flavor was tangy. The tea was decent but not much peach flavor. It tasted like the sweetness all came from the peach slices that were put in the cup. Overall, a solid experience. Good customer service and the food is pretty solid. I would come back if I'm looking for something sweet to eat.

MUST COME HERE!!! This place is so awesome!!! The beignets are so delicious and the owner is so personable and sweet. We got a flight of the 6 beignets with chocolate, caramel, and apple butter dipping sauce. They were all so rich and delicious. It was so much more than I could've expected. The restaurant is so adorable inside. Has plenty of seating and the most adorable decorations with photos of the owner's family enjoying his beignets! So heartwarming. I am so beyond impressed! I'll definitely keep coming back.

We stopped by this cafe shop in a small strip mall off of Ashburn rd for coffee. They do not have any alternative milk like almond or coconut milk, and their oat milk is not gluten free. The service is good and friendly, having said that we're unlikely to return.

Good beignets, excellent cafe au lait and other beverage options, but maybe only "OK" quality on the eggs and bacon. Friendly service from the time we entered, throughout our meal, and as we left. Cute little shop with several tables, but most customers took their orders to go.

I've been wanting to try Bilstads and I'm so glad I did! They have a small sitting area inside the store. It wasn't busy when I went on a Friday for lunch, but I'm sure it does get busier on the weekends. I had the smoked beef tri tip, I thought it was good but nothing to rave about. I wish there was more beef, but the bread is delicious and it is a pretty large sandwich that can make for two meals. The beignets were so good. They were fluffy, soft, and light. It wasn't overly sweet with the powdered sugar. The dips add just the perfect amount of sweetness. I had the caramel, apple butter, & strawberry dips. I thought they were all really good! Everything was reasonably priced & definitely worth the trip when you can't make it to NOLA

I did a 26-mile ride to Ashburn and discovered this cafe. Worth the workout worth it (and provided needed carbs). I will back and plan to try the innovative, breakfast bento boxes and unique teas and coffee combinations. I had the ginger-maple tea. A pretty place on a sunny spring morning. (Now, I get to ride home--downhill, with a tailwind, and with happy tastebuds.)

If you liked fried dough balls this is the place for you! I've not had many beignets in my life so I can't say if these are authentic or not. My Louisiana uncle thinks they are the best in the area. They don't remind me of the ones I had in Louisiana which are more fluffy or the ones at the Arlington place which are similar to those. However apparently they are the shizzle bc the people in there I am not kidding told us they sometimes come twice a day. Prices are reasonable and lots of sauces. I wasn't a fan of the fact they are rolled in ginger syrups BUT the fam enjoyed them so there is that.

    Beignets!

Pillowy soft and fluffy beignets showered in powdered sugar are served up fresh and hot. They are a good size but so delicious it's hard to stop! I ordered 6 to share with my daughter and we both agreed we could have easily eaten all 6. They offer a variety of dipping sauces that varies daily. We opted for just the chocolate but they will let you try the full "flight" if you want. The chocolate was delicious, thick and fudgey like a ganache. They also serve coffee which we didn't try since it was afternoon. The shop is bright and cheerful and service is fast and friendly.

I rate restaurants within their category and concept. I am not comparing a neighborhood Mexican…read morerestaurant to a Michelin star fine dining experience. If a place delivers quality food, represents its cuisine well, and exceeds expectations for its setting, that earns a high rating from me. We recently visited Casa De Avila in Leesburg, and I have to start with the horchata because it was truly the star of the meal. I am of Mexican heritage, my mom is Mexican, and I grew up drinking homemade horchata. This one tasted just like it should. It was creamy, clearly made with milk and condensed milk, with that soft sweetness and a gentle hint of cinnamon. It honestly tasted homemade, and that alone made me smile. Now, it is hard for me personally to give most Mexican restaurants 5 stars, and that has more to do with my background than the restaurant itself. I was born and raised in Los Angeles and grew up eating incredible home cooking from my mom, who is an amazing cook. That naturally shapes my expectations. In the DMV area, it has been tough to find truly authentic Mexican flavors. With the exception of La Jarochita, and Mancha Cocina Mexicana, which is more elevated but very well done, good Mexican food can be hard to come by here. All that said, Casa De Avila serves very good food and is probably the best I have found in this category locally. The sopes were made fresh, which makes a huge difference in both flavor and texture. The tacos were solid overall. The asada was very good, well seasoned and flavorful. The al pastor was good, but it did not quite have that deep, traditional flavor you get from proper trompo style preparation. The esquites were also tasty, and the kids loved that they added hot Cheetos. That is a trend we saw in Los Angeles years ago, so it felt fun and nostalgic to see it here. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be about the salsa. The salsa served tasted more like a bottled style Mexican salsa. I would love to see a true house made salsa roja or salsa verde, the kind where you char the tomatoes, tomatillos, chiles, and onions before blending. That deep roasted flavor is such a big part of authentic Mexican cooking and would elevate the whole experience even more. The service was amazing from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, and the staff really helped make the experience even better. Overall, Casa De Avila is doing a lot right. The food is flavorful, the horchata is exceptional, and it stands out in an area where good Mexican food is not easy to find. While my personal background makes me a tough critic, this is still a place I would happily return to. A solid 4 stars.

I waited in line to place my order and it took a bit for one family to order but after a few minutes I was in front. The cashier let me know they serve birria tacos everyday! So I placed my order for two tacos and a tres leches. I grabbed water and sat down, expecting that they'd call out my name, but they actually serve your meals directly to you which was very nice!
