They are good but it's a bit too far away from where I live, also the customer service was just ok. I tried several indie shops here in Peninsula and Bimmers is by far the best one. My first visit to Bimmers Independent Service today. I called and asked how much to reset an airbag warning light. Franjo, one of the owners said to just come in and he'd take care of it. So I drove over from Half Moon Bay. His partner Milenko reset it in about 30 seconds, no charge, and I was back on the road. Back story - I had replaced the drivers side airbag squib connector on my daughters 2003 E46. I broke it while replacing her window regulator (be sure to watch a YouTube video before trying to disconnect an airbag, the 50 cent plastic connector is easy to break and a $50 BMW part) Anyway, super nice of Franjo and Milenko, thank you so much! I be bringing the car back here for sure when I need a brake job! read more

I took them my 2002 Mini Cooper, hoping they could figure out what was making that sound it was making. I agreed to make the leap to pay for a diagnosis, even though I knew that money didn't go toward the repair like it used to in the old days. They did figure it out. Another transmission. [FYI, Mini's first year of re-introduction has been notorious for transmission problems.] The really congenial and gracious owners (both of them) spoke to me at different times and both times explained that my car would be expensive to fix. Since I don't have that kind of money right now, I elected to drive it home. Being very kind and understanding of my situation, they elected not to charge me for the diagnosis. A courtesy for which I will be forever grateful. BMWs and Mini Coopers are not inexpensive to fix. These guys instill integrity into their customer service and I can only assume their work. I have a 2010 X5 diesel model. It has some error codes and the engine light was on. I brought it to my usual mechanic (not specialized in BMW nor Diesel engines), he told me that I had a DPF issue. The replacement part alone would cost $3xxx. I brought it to Bimmer, Chris took a look at it and told me there was a broker exhaust gas valve and he fixed it for $250. I had to bring the car for smoke check. He asked me to bring the car to have them checked first and they were helping me to do the DPF regeneration. Bimmer is a very honest and very professional store. They know what they are doing and they are very reasonable in their charge. I would strongly recommend BMW owner to this shop. read more

I have a BMW Z3 with less than 20,000 miles on it so I have only gone to Bimmers three times in the last two years. I chose them over the Mountain View dealership b/c they were straighter with me, had a good rep and charged roughly half the price of the dealership per hour. 1. Battery replacement (no problem) 2. Inspection of alternator belt and such after a blowout and bad experience with MV BMW (also known as Allison); and 3. A full inspection the end of last year. Good service but kind of pricey but then that's a BMW for you. :) read more

Took the car in for what we thought was going to be a quick engine check. After dropping it off, they called us to let us know we should add a few services. We declined the services we knew how to do ourselves and were quoted a total from ~$1000 to ~$1400. When my husband went to pick up the car, not only had they performed AND charged us for the parts and maintenance of the unwanted services, but they ordered and charged us for a thermostat assembly and replacement. Unfortunately, we told them when we dropped the car off that we would be leaving on a time-sensitive road trip the evening we picked up the car, so they knew they had us over a barrel. Total repairs came out to over $2100, exactly 100% more than the quote. read more

I usually take my 7 series to John DePalma at Peter Pan, but they did not have time for me last week and I had a very narrow window. I saw the reviews and I am sure these guys are as great as they say. That was not my experience. I found them more like lawyers than mechanics and putting the fear of the universe ending if I do not do this or that. I had them do the minimum that was immediately necessary. I took the car to Peter Pan and they told me the work was not necessary. I would give them one star because of that, but it is a small business and I am a huge fan of keeping small business around. I neither saved money nor did I think got the quality of workman ship I paid for. I will not be back. To add insult to injury they made me sign a paper that said they told me these things were wrong with my car and I declined the service. I know its odd for a guy to characterize mechanics as cuddly bears, especial two big Slavic guys named Milenko and Franjo, but they are very considerate and helpful. They go out of their way to explain everything they are doing and separate out what should be done right away and what can wait. One of the few places I've ever taken any car to that let me make a reservation for a tune up and had me out at the end of the day as promised. Most places inevitably tell you they need to order some obscure part and need to hold on to your car for an extra day or two or three. Luckily they had everything needed in stock. Yeah, my last tune up was more than I bargained for, but BMWs are alway more expensive to repair with all their special parts and multiple incompatible computer systems. read more

Milenko tried to rip us off on a major engine repair. After almost six weeks of no progress, we had the car towed to German Motor Specialist in Sunnyvale. They had the engine put back together again within a week. Milenko had the gall to try to charge us for the full repair even though all they did was dismantle part of the engine. We ended up disputing the charge on the credit card company and won the dispute. If you want to go to the best BMW shop around, use German Motor Specialist in Sunnyvale. They are awesome. This shop is as good as it gets; honest, thorough, and very fair in price. If you have any issues with your car don't hesitate to take it here. First of all, I'm a huge car guy and normally do all my own maintenance / repair work and generally feel like any shop I've ever visited was out to overcharge you and try to sell you things your car just didn't need. As someone who actively avoids dealerships and mechanics I can honestly say this shop changed my mind. Unfortunately, my serpentine belt broke on my way to work a few weeks back and BImmers Independent was the only shop in the area open before 8am. Typically, this isn't a big deal but with my particular engine these belts can cause catastrophic engine failure by getting sucked behind the crank pulley and into the block. I didn't know how bad it was but was prepared for the worst. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Milenko who almost immediately knew what the issue was and provided an honest and up front overview of what happened and what the potential damage could be. He assured me that they would keep me updated (they did, frequently) on the progress and he provided best and worst case scenario estimates so I wasn't caught off guard if things were really bad. He even had me talk to the mechanic (Chris) who recently repaired a similar car with the same issue they just had in a few weeks prior which ended up needing much more repair work than mine did. They needed to replace some other parts and I asked them to take care of a few other items while they were in there and the final total was less than the original quote because they were able to finish things up a bit quicker than expected. I've never seen a shop do that before - Milenko and Chris kept their word and in doing so has made a customer for life. If I ever need any other work on my car I won't hesitate to bring it here, and you shouldn't either. read more

Milenko & Franjo have serviced our BMW's for years. My father-in-law used this place religiously!! Unfortunately dad passed away April 2010. My husband drove and kept up dad's BMW after his passing. The next time we went into the shop both Milenko and Franjo gave their condolences and told us what a great guy dad was and that they would miss him. It was truly genuine and meant a lot to my husband and I. We have continued to use Bimmers for any service needs on the car. Milenko & Franjo have consistently been professional, kind and patient. They carefully go over whatever needs to be done. We have learned recently that anything they have recommended did need attention. It was not just about how much money can they make off of repairs. I would give 6 stars if I could based upon my service here - in particular, the repair issue that I had turned out to be covered by my warranty, and Milenko directed me to the dealership for covered repairs rather than handling the repairs himself. I brought my car into the shop only because it was close to my house and I couldn't drive the car very far. I needed a simple radiator replacement. I had the parts and coolant. Unfortunately for me, I did not ask for an invoice before I let them start the work. I dropped the car off on day 1 and expected the car at the end of the day. But they could not get to it until the next morning. When I picked up the car, I was charged 2.5 hrs for 1.4 hrs worth of work. I called my typical mechanic and was quoted $125 less than how much I was charged ($250). read more
