I have been a customer here since around 2006, they always do a great job and put in extra effort to make sure the exhuast alignment is perfect. With my last visit Dan installed a bolt-on catback exhuast that I was having trouble with since the cat was modified and I couldn't get a socket around the shallow bolt heads due to a weld around the pipe blocking it. Fearing this would take me days to work on, I decided to leave it to the pros. Dan made quick work of getting the old bolts off and replacing them with larger head bolts, it looks so clean now. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I reached out to exhaust works through yelp and Gina contacted me and provided some available times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It took a little time to schedule as I have limited availability myself but once I brought the car in, it was well worth the wait.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dan worked on my 2009 C6. Note that Stevens creek Chevrolet replaced the catalytic converters on a recall as part of some other work that was required and was the worst experience I ever had with car repairs. To make a long story short, they installed a faulty converter and damaged the oxygen sensor along a slew of other issues which I reported to GM. Dan at exhaust works corrected the faulty catalytic converter, he repositioned the oxygen sensor and the welding quality and overall quality of repair was outstanding. I had brought in a new GM oxygen sensor but was the incorrect part so as Dan was about to install, realized it wouldn't work. It was around 415 and I had to leave asap to pick up my son at daycare. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dan made a call to find an oxygen sensor, jumped in his own car and sped off to get the correct sensor, returned shortly and installed and got the car going minutes after his return.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have never seen service like this and it just made my day! When I received the bill, he even undercharged me for the time he put in. Dan is a perfectionist. Forgot to mention that the dealer bent the stud on the converter and damaged the threads as well and Dan corrected it all. I went to smog station after a short drive to reset and car passed and picked up my son before daycare closed. I am so happy to have my Vette back. Lesson learned, find a smaller local shop and if you are lucky enough to find someone like Dan that takes care of your car like it is his own, do it! Avoid service advisors that add no value and work on commissions. These days the staff at most dealerships are kids with zero experience. 2 thumbs up for Dan who took over Exhaust Works last year. A muffler clamp on my BMW broke in 2008 and was repaired in San Mateo. When I started hearing rattling underneath my car again last week (2023), I found out that the San Mateo shop had closed last year. Fortunately the business that is in that space now referred me to Exhaust Worls in Belmont based on personal experience after a catalytic converter theft. Today I stopped by Exhaust Works and was pleasantly surprised when Dan not only looked at my car to diagnose the problem but fixed it on the spot! The repair included reinforcing the area, welding the clamp back on to the car, and spray painting the repaired area. All for a very nominal fee. I also learned that the Belmont City Council has been rezoning or trying to rezone a lot of Old County Road for housing instead of businesses, and business rents have been gping up in the area. We need to be mindful to keep local businesses in Belmont & the surrounding areas, otherwise where will be have to go [far & wide] to get our cars repaired, etc.? read more

I unfortunately have to update my review after taking my car to another muffler shop and they shared some information on how this shop installed my exhaust. I'm now out $8,000 because of the install that Todd did due to welding (which wasn't suppose to happen and I wasn't aware that it was welded on) and in addition to this, he tightened a clamp that he purchased (which was meant for trucks) to the car and the clamps he used damaged my $1,500 midpipe. I got quoted roughly $2,000 (1,500 for the midpipe and $500 for the install/fix) because my $6,000 exhaust has to be fixed from the welding job he did. Super unhappy with all the news I received and I wouldn't recommend taking a euro car to this shop for any exhaust work. Find a better shop that specializes in euros. To Todd's credit, he did tell me that he was having issues with the install and I told him if he could figure it out to do it but I shouldn't have done that. Regardless I wish I had went somewhere else because I'm SOL at this point if I ever decide to sell the exhaust/midpipe. read more

I took my 1976 Firebird to Dan for a new exhaust system, and after our initial conversation, I knew Dan was the one who was going to do the job. I had a really good experience with Exhaust Works. A few months ago, my catalytic converter got replaced here for a fraction of the price that my mechanic quoted me. However the check engine light started coming on again recently, so I came back. Todd pulled down the code and figured that the oxygen sensor needed replacing. He showed me how to buy one at a bargain price and offered to install the sensor at no charge. He said its part of the service. I don't know much about exhausts or cars but I find his work ethic and integrity a breath of fresh air. Brought mufflers and tips and they were welded on within a couple of hours for a reasonable price. Not everything fit perfectly out of the box but they were able to make it work. Noticing that a bolt was missing from my sway bar was just the cherry on top--they would have fixed it for free if they had one on hand. Don't waste your time. I've scheduled 4 different trips here to replace some rusty components on my stock, easy-peasy exhaust. Each time, I'd show up at the shop and have them tell me that they no longer had time to do the work that day. Despite scheduling a week in advance, checking in the day before, showing up on time, etc, there was always an excuse. They got backed up, their pipe-bender was on the fritz, I think they just didn't want my business. If you browse the other lower reviews you'll notice the trend. I took my car in for a catalytic shield since there's been an uptick of targeted cars in my area. Upon raising my car on the lift, Dan (I believe that was his name) said I didn't need the shield since my catalytic converter was an after market product that wasn't worth much to thieves and therefore not desirable. I've had the car for two decades and hadn't remembered the replacement nor did I know it wasn't desirable which is probably why my car wasn't targeted all this time. I greatly appreciated Dan's honesty with not having me pay for something I didn't need. More often than not, people are trying to separate you and your money. We need more people like Dan in this world! Exhaust Works installed complete new pipes and mufflers on the MrStitch shop 76 Corvette as specified! Todd replaced! the Engine exhuast manifold that was old and came apart when he removed the bolts to install new pipe assembly. He ordered and installed the manifold and completed the job ! Todd did not want to charge me for manifold that came apart! while working on vette. MrStitch said no! and paid for the professional service and parts needed to complete my Vette. I found the last honest man in America! They quoted me $750 to lengthen the exhausts in my 1956 Willys Jeep. The work was done exceptional well and on time. The communication was excellent and professional and courteous but the biggest surprise was when I went to hand the owner $750 cash and he told me "hey Jeff we used your existing mufflers and headers which you liked so let's just call it $500. I nearly fainted. Last week I had the opposite meeting with the garage that installed my new gauges. They told me 4 hours and charged me for 6 explaining that there were some engineering complications. I can't recommend these guys strongly enough.
