We walked in for Brunch, they seated us and gave us the Brunch menu (without any of the special offer from from the Brunch Specials listed outside). I was looking forward to either the Steak & Eggs or the Shakshuka - none listed on the Brunch menu given. We asked for the regular menu and they gave us only one. New Year's Eve lunch with friends was at BIN 141. Formerly it was Angelina and located in the middle of 3rd Street and Avenue A. Now it's at the corner of 3rd Street. Lunch turned out to be brunch as that was the menu we got. Carole and I both ordered the Eggs Benedict. Eden chose Teriyaki chicken on salad. A delicious multigrain bread was in the basket. Packets of butter that one gets at a diner was on tiny plates. They were difficult to open so I used my nail cutter. Cocktails were offered. Carole had a Bellini and declared that there was hardly any alcohol in it. The aroma coming from the kitchen was unappetizing. I shuddered to think how the food would taste. The English muffin was rock hard. I pushed it aside to eat the poached egg and ham. I ate the multigrain bread but left the dish half eaten. Eden enjoyed her order. Another guest had the burger and fries but hardly touched the fries which spelled trouble. Against my better judgment, I had a slice of coconut cake for dessert. The desserts were displayed in a see through case as one entered which was another indication that this was a diner. The cake was mediocre and a waste of $8+. The server was efficient and the place was quite large with a few customers. This is a diner masquerading as a restaurant. I, for one, will not be returning at any cost. read more

We recently had a big brunch for my brother's birthday and they were great. We had about 15-20 people and some people came and went. We ordered from the brunch menu and despite the fact that some of the requests slightly deviated, they were able to accommodate us very well and we got our food in a timely manner. I really enjoyed the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. There was a salad and fries on the side. I would say that it was near perfect. The chef is awesome and we have followed him through his many restaurants and there is something to be said about the people at this place and how much they will do to ensure that their customers are happy and loyal. Many of the people in our group have visited this restaurant or its sister restaurant over the years and had nice things to say. read more

A group of friends and I came for NYU restaurant week and the owner was very unwelcoming. We didn't receive any water or bread or menu. The restaurant was very understaffed. When my friend asked to pack up her lunch because her meal came late and didn't have time to finish, the chef said: "I don't do take outs, I told you the moment you came in" and grabbed the plate and told her to just not pay for it. The pandemic has made online info on store hours completely unreliable. Anyway, back to this restaurant. As soon as I walked in I felt like we made a mistake. Once we sat down and I saw the menu I knew for sure I'd be unhappy with the meal. The menu is generic and nothing is particularly good or appetizing looking/sounding. My colleague and I split and shared a burger and a pasta dish. The burger was dry and the pasta was as if a college student made pasta using sauce from a jar. Absolutely terrible. If I could give a negative review on this place I definitely would. The manger or owner was very rude and unpleasant/disrespectful. I was going purchase a mini dessert cake and the side of the cake had a small smudge on it so I inform the staff if he could give me another one. The manger quickly responded and said just don't give her anything. Customer service and great hospitality is always a bonus for me whenever I'm visit any food establishment. Everything was delicious!! The pita & hummus appetizer was tasty. The pita was soft and the hummus had lots of flavor with just the right amount of garlic. Me and my cousin both got the veggie burger which was yummy. This might become a favorite brunch/lunch spot! There are also lots of vegan options which is a plus. They have vegan cakes up at the front, which I may try sometime. The burger bun wasn't very soft, so 4 and a half stars. read more

So we went to Bin 141 with a group of six late last month and the food was OUTSTANDING. The chef, who's been in the East Village and has a following for 20+ years, REALLY knows his craft & art. All of our dishes were distinct and made with knowledge & love. Seriously, folks - this chef (and I'm forgetting his name right now; I apologize, 'cause I went out of my way to express our thanks at the end of the night) is SO good. And ... at the end of the night as I was thanking him for the food and the wine, he literally said, "here take a bottle!" as he handed me an un-opened bottle of what we had that night. Who does this? In over 30 years of living in NYC, this has NEVER happened. I can't gush enough. To top it off, when we walked in on a Saturday night the restaurant was empty (we arrived early for a Saturday night dinner in the East Village at 7:30pm). Although we were skeptical since this was our first time, we were treated like royalty, even after the restaurant filled up later. I wish Yelp would allow for 0 stars. This is probably the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. Absolutely terrible service and food. Was not given menus, water, nor bread, but other customers around us were. The man, who I can only assume to be the owner, spent more time counting his cash than providing service. We were forced to order without menus. How does one order at a restaurant without a menu? Pasta was undercooked, hard, and just tasted like saltwater. You could probably make better pasta at home. Actually, I have made better pasta at home. Food came out late and did not have the option to get a to-go box. Not that you would want to get something that tastes like that to go. The owner was rude, extremely dismissive, disrespectful, and went as far as to blame his customers for his awful service. Quite a shame; the restaurant looked quite nice upon first glance at its Yelp reviews and photos. Unfortunately, those could not be more misleading. I hope my tip went to the one employee who brought out our food, apologized for the delay, and brought a bottle of water when we asked. A startling contrast to the owner, who was unquestionably insulting and discourteous the moment we walked in. Save your money and your dignity. The Chef is very hands on, visits the table offers specials and even takes orders while the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Penne Ala Vodka with chicken. They also have a great happy hour starting at $6. There is a full bar here unlike most places in the area they have a wide variety. They have fresh gelato and espresso as well. I came here for a quick bite to eat on a Tuesday afternoon. The inside is really cute and the customer service was great. I got the hummus and pita with greens and I thought it was mediocre. Although hummus and pita is a simple dish I though that the plate lacked flavor and tasted rather bland. I disliked that the hummus and greens(side salad) were on the same plate and the pita was on a separate plate. The salad kept getting mixed into the hummus. I think that the "greens" should be taken out of the hummus and pita dish and offered as a side. I don't see myself giving this place a second chance, but if I do I'll be sure to try a different dish. read more

I live in the neighborhood and walked by this new restaurant with cute interiors that had just opened and didn't even have their name board yet. My friend and I loved EVERYthing we ordered. The server, Chuck was super nice. And they have happy hour (buy 1 get 1 free) 5-7pm. They hadn't serve bread with appetizers so we asked if they could and they accommodated us and the bread was excellent as well. Overall a 5 star rating for sure- tasty & flavorful food, great presentation and friendly customer service in one of the best neighborhoods in Manhattan. Can't go wrong. read more

I'm giving this two stars since the food was decent not great but I'm used to mediocre especially if I'm hungry. Yesterday a friend and I stopped by for an evening dinner. We both ordered pasta entrees and the food was reasonably good -- not much pasta sauce and was spiced which was after I requested no spice to which the Hispanic gentleman seemed to acknowledge by repeating my order. A few moments later, I was able to "pry" and " beg" a little extra sauce from another waiter who seemed to manage the place and seemed to be a terrible human being. He'd walk away grumpy as if offended without saying or seeming to acknowledge what I requested. That in itself was not going to be a reason for me to even review this restaurant. I'd never come back and would've just forgotten about it --so whatever. But nope -- the (unnecessary) drama would start at the very end of our meal. Because both waiters, again one of them possibly being the manager, didn't have the best attitude and never checked up on us (even after I had to go back and remind them of the either a drink or something else). I told my friend I'm not going to tip that well. And I meant every word of it. End of story, of course the manager was quick to pick up the check after he rang me up and charged my card. It was a little over 100 bucks (which was a little pricey over one Caesar salad and 2 pastas and 4 small Drinks that tasted like koolaide or punch ) but whatever right? How many crappy restaurants can one person go to in NYC-- many! I'm used to it... while appreciating better quality ones. I wish I can show my other "alias" on Yelp that shows compliments more than crap like this. So I only tipped 10 bucks --- which I can say I rarely do so low over bad service. Not even one minute later, grumpy Manager guy sticks his chest out right at me as he standing over me and asked me if that was a 20 or a 10 --even if I added everything up in legible writing. I said it was 10. He looked right down at me in disbelief of all things and said "Why? You ah think he's not worth it ???" Him being the other waiter who'd long forgot our table. As soon as I tried to explain to this guy he was saying "I give you free pasta!!!!" I'm like- Free pasta ? You mean free sauce-- which was about 2 -3 tablespoons and I can bet my life on that. This guy was Trippin. A complete idiot that knew good and well why I wasn't happy with the service but still had the nerve to be upset with me about the tip. Then an elderly couple started on me about how nice the guy is right before I'd mention that they just got there and didn't exp what we had experienced. My "friend " came back from the restroom embarrassed and gave him more money ---- which really disgusted me in a way. To be quite honest I thought that was disrespectful but she kept on saying because she's black she's going to be judged which I thought was pretty stupid but that's her mindset not mine.. She would say that because I'm white I don't have to deal with that. Oh you mean like sht after she went to use the restroom. One things for sure if she ever went through that I would never disrespect her like that. She'd caved to a creep who lied and yelled and even when he tried to record me "attacking" him. Maybe I should not have been defensive by finally telling to this guy to leave me alone and just let us leave ... maybe I should not have raised my voice after he raised his and ask him to give me back my ticket so I can give him and other waiter a big fat zero in gratuity ( naturally he refused) --- maybe NYC is never going to change for the better when it comes to garbage like this ....But in all honesty you should never ever argue with a customer as a waiter-- that is disgusting. I've been a waiter and sometimes I didn't give the best service whether I was swamped or I just plain forgot some thing... or people can be a little cheap even w quality service. It does happen and there were times I deserved to not be tipped or be given a lower tip... but never have I gone up to a customer and demanded an explanation of my gratuity. Folks like that are unAmerican and just terrible and I bet he knows it. This is him below: ( and yes he's got my personal info from my card and I'm sure he's disgusting enough to retaliate) bring it.
