We had such a delightful and delicious lunch here on a shopping day in Lewes. We strolled across the drawbridge and down the street to this gem. Our server was fantastic and the food was really well prepared. Their french onion soup was not overly salty and served with a yummo melted cheese and toasted bread topping. I am still thinking about their reuben egg roll appetizer - a homemade delight featuring just the right portions of corned beef, sauerkraut and lightly fried eggroll wrapper that you dipped into the thousand island dressing! We decided to try this place for the first time on Cinco de Mayo. It was a real PITA to get the shrimp off the 2 skewers. They were tasty, but the pineapple salsa was too spicy for me. Husband had seafood pasta, very good. Stopped by twice during our stay in Lewes... First ~ the people of Lewes are amazing. So welcoming, kind, and willing to share local knowledge. Irish Eyes Staff ~ All were attentive and eager to help. Really fun crowd... games were on, live music. Bartenders were great, handled our 6-8 person party with skill and friendliness... The single off-note was a young woman bartender, blonde hair, at the back deck bar (Fri & Sat eve, 8pm or so)... Super dismissive, rude at times, def a chip on her shoulder. She missed out on lots of tip $. Even rude to the women in our party. Interacted with her twice, separate evenings. Same both nights. We sort of felt like something was off, felt sorry for her, so we tipped well the first night. But 2nd night, same poor showing on her part. She lost the house $ as well, because we left earlier than we intended to. She is our only bad memory from an otherwise amazing weekend in Lewes. Moral of the story... Continuing alphabet series representing I for 2023 is I is for Irish Eyes. My friend had invited me to Cape Henlopen for a day trip in August 2023 as he had injured himself & could barely walked. They were camping, and I drove his pregnant wife to the beach, the main reason she wanted to go on the trip in the first place. She relaxed on the beach, and I relaxed some there but took a long walk on the trail there. I helped my friend getting him to the door of the restroom at the campsite by driving him to the restroom and back to campsite. He was nice enough to treat me to dinner at Irish Eyes. I think he might've given me the handicap placard to park in the front. His pregnant wife was ok to walk on her own. But I assisted my friend up the wheelchair ramp and into the restaurant into the back area, where we sat outside by the dock. He held my arm as I went slowly through the restaurant. The staff & customer may have thought he was my date...haha. Service was prompt. I got Key West Shrimp & Scallops, which came with coconut rice, sauce & veggies. It was a delicious combination of flavors in one bowl. It comes with a side, which I may have gotten a side salad, but could've gotten fries or something else; I don't recall. I tried some wings they had gotten, which were good too. But the main event was my outstanding entree. Irish Eyes was a great stop on our short visit to Lewes! A comforting and enjoyable dinner after a long day at the beach. The oyster shooters were very good, they're not typically my favorite but the cocktail sauce in this one was especially good!! I didn't try the buffalo wings but they looked and sounded very good. My Cali chicken sandwich was great - bigger than I expected!! Very large pieces of avocado. The Reuben was good, but the meat was a little dry. Needed some moisture. :( Our waiter was very kind and the service was fast on a Sunday evening. So right off, this isn't a martini establishment. Crab dip - very salty, crab itself a bit bland, covered in cheddar disguises that. Ordered the "surf and turf" which was ok. Not the best cut of steak but also not the worst. Shrimp were ok. Everything was ok. The clams and crab special - also ok. Some shells had no clams on them. Overly aggressive staff. Three bouncers put their hands on me and my friends while we were already in the process of leaving the bar. The whole situation felt completely unnecessary and escalated for no reason. It honestly seemed like they were looking for any excuse to kick people out early so they could close up sooner. The older man working security and the younger man with black hair in particular were especially nasty and unnecessarily physical with people despite there being no reason for it. Completely unprofessional behavior and really disappointing treatment toward paying customers. If I could rate 0 I would. Deplorable. read more

A wedding reception brought us to this quaint restaurant amongst a fishing dock. Pretty unique. We celebrated upstairs. My nieces's theme was woodsy and unique. Truly a reflection of her and her husband! Check out the donuts! The buffet was set up in a long sun room. It was very beautiful, with great sunset views. The food selection wasn't the greatest (Im not big on salad or mashed potatoes) but what I did have was very good - Chicken Cordon Bleu (an old favorite, that I rarely have) and a slice of lasagna. The dance floor was definitely small but served its purpose anyway. Many, including myself, had a ball! The drinks were decently strong and the bartenders were quite kind. We popped downstairs for an after party that was a lot of fun! My kids got burgers and chicken tenders and were in heaven. I had another Malibu Bay Breeze. Lastly, I loved the elevator. This place was recommended by many locals. This was our first time here for dinner with my family of five. There is lots of room for parking. As you can see from my pics this restaurant looks great from the outside, but not as good looking on the inside. We did not have a dinner reservation, but when we arrived we were offered a table either inside or outside in their heated room overlooking the canal. Since it was cold outside after Christmas we opted for an inside table. We were seated almost immediately inside their main dining area in front of the stage area. As we walked to our table past the bar we noticed the bar was busy. There was no music during our 6:00 pm dinner. As we sat down I realized there were no tablecloths. Small paper napkins and flimsy stainless steel utensils are your experience here. I started with their mango Mai Tai with parrot bay mango, Captain Morgan, pineapple and orange juice, sour mix and grenadine served in a tall 24 ounce cocktail glass for $14. I did not enjoy my bland cocktail, therefore I switched to a pint of my draft Guinness, which I really enjoyed. My draft Guinness was the best part of my dinner experience here. We were here on a Thursday night, which is prime rib night, therefore since I love a good prime rib I ordered the 12 ounce slow roasted hand cut medium rare prime beef served with au jus, mashed potatoes and fresh steamed asparagus for $23. My prime rib was over cooked and seemed to be pre-cut and reheated because it was not medium rare or red in the middle. My prime rib did not taste good. My asparagus was also very thick in size. I prefer the thinner pencil size asparagus. I did not complain to Klah our server. As I previously stated, the best part of my dinner was my draft Guinness. My total bill for both of us was $98 excluding gratuity. Klah our server served us well until she was relieved by another server. I assume Klah started at lunch time and her serving tour ended at 7:00 pm. A different server replaced Klah at around 7:00 pm. This place is average at best. I doubt we will return here, since there are so many other better restaurants in and near Lewes. read more

They have amazing happy hour deals and the best views of sunset during the summer. This is my favorite place to go during the summer evenings as I wait for the sun to set while munching on their happy hour deals. Aside from the happy hour deals, I love their crab pretzel and it's not on the HH menu but I'll still get it because it's worth the extra couple of dollars! On the HH menu I love getting the tater tots and chicken wings. read more

The staff came across angry and in a hurry to close. It was my daughters after party for her wedding and when I arrived as I was entering the establishment an older man came outside and refused to let me enter with an empty Stanley cup that I was returning to one of our wedding guests. He became loud and angry so I returned it back to the car. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After entering they had a live band playing and everyone was having a good time and we spent a fair amount of money dancing and enjoying ourselves.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] After a while, the Brides feet began to hurt so her brother let her wear his shoes. Later when the same old guy noticed that my son was not wearing shoes he went up to him and immediately kicked him out even after he tried to explain the situation to the guy. He would not allow him to retrieve his shoes and was made to leave in his socks. My other son went over to try and deescalate the situation but he was kicked out as well just for trying to explain what was going on and that his brother would put his shoes back on. At that point multiple staff members got involved. More people from the wedding party got kicked out as they were trying to figure out what was happening. Even when everyone was outside the eablishment the staff continued to yell and scream and escalate the situation. Police were called even though we were leaving. Unfriendly staff will never go back. I had lunch at the Irish Eyes in Milton and it was excellent so we gave this location a try. We sat on the patio and it has a nice view of the canal. The service was pretty good, very friendly but not very attentive. The food was mixed, had the loaded tater tots and they were good. For lunch had the crab sandwich and they forgot to add the aioli which is a huge part of the sandwich. Took me quite awhile to get someone to help me bring me some but once I added it to the sandwich it was good. Overall, I would go here for drinks, appetizers and the view but otherwise not sure it is worth the money. read more

A solid pub-style restaurant with a great view of the water. Some of the entrees like the Hawaiian chicken with coconut rice, and the blue crab mac & cheese feel like unique staples in their menu and never disappoint. Their cocktail menu is heavily crush-biased but haven't had one I didn't enjoy. Service is always pretty good but parking can be a pain during peak season as the majority of it has to be scavenged for in the marina's gravel lot. read more

I would say my favorite things on the menu are the shepherds, pie, blue point oysters, Hamburger Salad and for cocktails I really love their version of the Bloody Mary. It's great and it has crab in it ! 5 Stars for everything other than service. I'm not saying the service is bad, but the service is definitely degraded if you are a solo diner. That has been my experience the five times I've been here in summer of 2023. To try to make sure this doesn't happen, I tend to be an early diner for dinner or after 8PM to avoid the rush hour. But even the hostess area acts as if solo diners are lepers. They try to give you the worst table in the place until you insist on a better seat. Once seated It always starts out OK but as soon as my server gets a table where two or more are seated I have been ignored. For example, three tables surrounding me would be asked if they needed anything and wait staff would walk by me without saying a thing or I will be waiting for a drink refill for at least 15 minutes. All 5 times I had the plate pushed to the other side of the table indicating that I was done and I actually had to run and look for the server to ask for my check and the server to ask for my check. The check takes an additional 10 minutes. I tend to be a very generous tipper because I know that being a solo is something restaurants don't like , so this is sometimes frustrating. And it feels a little discriminatory. They need to do a better job with those who choose to dine alone. With all that said the food is fabulous. If you get seated outside, the view is fabulous. There's a lot of parking and even though you might have to ride around a bit to find a spot. I've always been lucky enough to find a spot.The location is great and the place is very nicely decorated. I can't wait to come back with a Dining partner or with my local family of eight where I know the service part of the meal will be acceptable. read more

We come here every year, been about a decade now, and really love it. The kids always make sure it's part of our vacation plan. You need to get used to the business model to enjoy it properly. Popular, no reservations, people nail down the indoor tables if there's music. Figure on a long wait and take whatever you get. The staff is very kind, naturally busy as all get-out, but they get it done. Irish Eyes has taken some items off the menu we liked, like the Guinness beef stew. But it's still a big menu and they do pull it all off. This time I had fish and chips and I'll be dreaming of that enormous haddock filet. Kids had the Hawaiian chicken, the steak, and wife had surf and turf. How can you go wrong? Then the kids figured out what lava cake was and oh yeah. Happy. Not quite five stars but reliable four for hopefully another decade to come. These Irish eyes are smiling. read more

This is the best shepherds pie I've ever had. I live more than two hours away and will be seriously considering driving down here in the future just to get it again. My husband got the vegetarian shepherds pie and wasn't thrilled with the types or amount of vegetables in it but the traditional version is out of this world. There is a boat dock with free two hour parking while on site which is nice if you're out for a cruise. The cream of crab was particularly delightful. This places perk is that it's on the water. Tonight was my second time attending and I wasn't impressed. The hostess sat us at a table with no server assigned. This caused havoc when we wanted to order. The other waiters seemed as if they didn't want extra work to take on another table even though the crowd was light. The server who did end up taking us was rude and had an attitude the whole time. Food was okay. I got the soft shell crab. Don't recommend. Had mussels as appetizer.. no flavor, bland. Didn't get a picture but I honestly have to say I've eaten at this establishment 4 times now (newbies to the area) and my previous meals were ok. Last night we had a party of 9 and 3 of us ordered one of their "Irish specialties" Shepherds Pie. It was awful! 90 % of it was overcooked dry ground beef. There was no gravy, maybe a few kernels of corn and I may have see one of 2 peas. It came with a small scoop of mashed potatoes on top. We kindly asked the waitress for some gravy and she brought 3 little cups of Au Jus.. Not what we were expecting. I've made Shepherds Pie at home that puts this to shame. For an Irish Pub special this was a huge disappointment. Oh and our nachos with shredded corn beef came out with 1/2 a plate of nachos, a small clump of melted cheese and maybe a few strands of corned beef (which I might add is incredible!. Go for the Ruben Sandwich if you're going to order anything, it's so worth it) Certainly not worthy of ordering again or recommending to others. My advice to this management: When you're an Irish Pub/restaurant..make sure your signature dishes are a reflection of true Irish cuisine. You guys bombed on this one.
