It was surprising that we were able to get served so quickly on a weekend night, but actually about an hour later, the entire restaurant was packed so we got lucky. I actually couldn't believe that I hadn't tried this restaurant until recently given how many reviews it has. Between the six of us, we ordered a variety of dishes to share for the table. Some of the things that we ordered included the butter chicken, the garlic naan, the coconut naan, plain naan, along with the chow mein with shrimp, pork belly small plate, the kale chaat, the daal bhat, and the chicken momos. From this list, my favorites were the garlic naan, the chow mein, and the kale chaat. Next time, I'd skip over the pork belly as it wasn't anything special. The coconut naan wasn't my favorite either but was nice to try something new. I also didn't really enjoy the daal bhat though I know it's a popular dish of theirs. To each their own. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back. I don't crave this type of cuisine too often, but when I do, this will definitely be the spot to hit up.

Regardless, Base Camp was awesome and a solid restaurant in the Mission. My friend and I arrived impromptu on a Monday night, surprised to see a crowded house; luckily, we snagged a table in the corner. We ordered the tandoori octopus, pork belly bhutwa, and goat curry which were all good. The tandoori octopus was fork tender and delicately spiced. The pork belly had vaguely Indian and vaguely Chinese flavor profiles, without lending itself to either side of the fulcrum. Kinda masala mixed with a bit of mala, which makes sense given Nepal's location. The goat curry was the only dish, albeit good, that didn't quite stand out for me. Service is also incredible. Every time a dish arrived, servers graciously explained how best to indulge, a welcomed gesture for this Nepalese novice. Would come again!

Genuinely. Absolutely perfect. Delicious, well seasoned and with lots of pork. I had to restrain myself from wolfing it all down in one sitting! That said, I also tried one of the curry dishes my first time, and was thoroughly unimpressed. It was bland and I wish it had more spice and texture. I will definitely enjoy the noodle dishes again in the future though! Thanks also appreciate the cute interior, and the vibe is nice if I want to take friends out for a casual evening meal.

From the start we were impressed with the incredibly friendly service. To start, we got the fish pakora. Although deep fried, the pakora were crispy without being greasy or heavy, and had a nice fresh flavor when dipped in the accompanying mint sauce. For our entrees, we got the daal makhani and the mixed vegetable curry. Both entrees were very tasty, but our favorite was the daal makhani, which had a nice smoky flavor. We also got a side of garlic naan and Peshwari naan. Although I hadn't had Peshwari naan before and was skeptical about whether it would go with the meal with its sweet flavors, the filling of coconut, almonds, and sultanas was so delicious that it was my favorite part of the meal. Also, although it was sweet, it didn't have too much sweetness to create an imbalance against the rest of the things we ordered. Highly recommend this place for great food and impeccable service!
