Came here for a birthday celebration, and we left celebrating life in general! This is a go-to for us in Windsor, and the day was great for patio dining as well. The ambiance is casual, and the service was great to throw some tables together for our large group without advance notice. Our server was Heather, and she took great care of us the whole meal, which lasted almost three hours! Never a rush for a birthday party. For food, we always have our favorites here: the wedge salads (whole and half!) and, for appetizers, the Frickles, Kin wings, and calamari. We also had some other great dishes, such as the YBC burger (Certified Angus Beef patty, sharp cheddar, lettuce, tomato, onion, on a toasted brioche bun), the Dip (Thin sliced, slow-roasted top round, melted Grand Cru Gruyere cheese, smoked horseradish cream, toasted hoagie, garlic au jus), and a Michelangelo (two 4oz burger patties, American cheese, house aioli, house-made pickles, lemon pepper bacon and onion jam, crispy potato strings, lettuce, and tomato on a toasted brioche bun) - truly a masterpiece! I also grabbed two pizzas to take home: the Mac Daddy and the Smokehouse. Their mac n' cheese as an entree is great too, but not this visit! We tried some adult beverages as well, and the margaritas this visit were a disappointment - very bitter. The Mai Tais were amazing, by comparison, and soon several of us found a new beverage to enjoy. All the food was great, and the Frickles were well-fried and hot, but not greasy at all. The wedge salads are substantial, so a half for us is usually enough as an entree when taken with all the appetizers. And again, Heather was a great server for our needy group! Thank you! Burgers are awesome, but on this warm day we went light and healthy. We went with The Wedge Salad. All was crisp and fresh and we felt like we did something healthy and delicious for ourselves, but then we thought to ourselves, "who are we kidding? ". Order up some fried calamari... cooked to perfection. Most places have their oil heat to low, cook it too long and you end up with vreaded rubberbands. Not here! In the area for work and was treated to KIN by colleagues for lunch. This gem was recommended highly by locals and I can see why. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken timely. The table ordered shareable fried pickles and Brussel sprouts for appetizers. Both were crispy and seasoned well. Sprouts can have a bitter aftertaste if done incorrectly but Kin's were crispy yet tender inside. It was dressed with bacon and grated Parmesan. I ordered the Chicken Pesto sandwich. I would have loved a much thinner bread for the sandwich or it being panini style. My only pickle about this sandwich was the bread top was too thick and the chicken got lost in the sandwich. A stronger basil flavor in the pesto would have also done the sandwich justice. Overall, seems a good spot for lunch and dinner. read more

My partner and I arrived on a Friday afternoon for our 230 reservation. The server told us the host will seat us momentarily. Negative- the restaurant should've had more staff. Maybe a busser to assist the server. The server was busy but managed it well. Positive- we sat outside and it was a gorgeous day. We had a view of the downtown park and enjoyed the flora. Positive- the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We enjoyed the crab dip, calamari, tuna salad, and beet salad. The salads were the highlight, especially on such a hot day. The calamari was a tad salty but the batter was nice n light. The crab dip was good but you don't get any chunks of crab- it's been blended into the sauce. We stopped into Kin on the Windsor Town Green and, even though it was a full house, sitting at the bar ended up being the best decision. My boyfriend and I wanted to try something different, and everything--from the cocktails to the salad and the main course was absolutely spectacular. The flavors were phenomenal and truly melted in your mouth! The bartender who took care of us was incredibly professional and made sure we had everything we needed. Don't be a dummy like me if you go to Kin. Don't order a full Wedge Salad as it is beyond huge using a full half head of iceberg lettuce which is three times what I'm used to order the half wedge instead as it is still 1/4 of a head of iceberg and still bigger than most more expensive wedge salads out there in Sonoma County. It was indeed good though but unless you want to only eat salad, order their salads as halves. The half beet salad was also pronounce as good though my friend opined the dressing was a bit overdone so order it on the side. Kin is an interesting "all in one' place. As you enter on a Friday night, you are hit with a cacophonous sports bar feel in the echoey space. We were led through the first much quieter separated dining room, through the second and into the the third which is designed it seems for private large groups to reserve; the four of us sat next to a boisterous party of 7 couples seated at a long table arrangement. So the space was loud and the restaurant could use some sound deadening materials as the concrete floors reflect a lot of sound off the unadorned spaces. Kin can serve as s sports bar, a pizza joint or a burger joint though half of us wanted to try some of their more "fine dining" offerings; the Short Rib, recommended by the waitress, were very good as was the Shrimp and Polenta entree. Larger portions. The waitress steered my friend away from the fish tacos towards the burger when he asked which to order and he said it was good. I had the Roast Beef Dip and it was very good as were the garlic fries and though I didn't dip the sandwich in the large bowl of dip it did taste nice and savory without too much salt. The Frickles were the only appetizer we ordered to share and they were ok; perfect for bar food. So Kin has been wise to offer a lot of options to different customer tasted but be prepared for a loud space designed for the under 50 crowd though we are older. A good choice for many and if three or four of you want the same salad just order one and share; it will be plenty. I'm a solo diner and like to sit at the bar. Nicole is usually the bartender when I come in, she's awesome and I love chatting with her. Tonight I had great service from JC. I usually get the Tuscan Chicken or Shrimp and Polenta. Tonight I had the Bourbon Glazed Pork Chop and it was wonderful but the Tuscan Chicken has my heart.. We are local and try to support our local businesses which is why we held my son's engagement dinner at Kin. However we were quickly disappointed. For starters when ordering drinks most of the drinks were out of stock, basic drinks that all other restaurants always have in stock. We ordered our salads and entrees. Once again disappointed when we received our entrees before our salads. Steaks were ordered medium rare and medium but they were well done and overcooked, chicken was dry. We asked for extra pesto with our chicken instead received no pesto. We were never asked if we wanted another drink after our initial order. It was very obvious that our server was overloaded as we sparenly saw him and probably why we didnt get out salads in order before our entrees. I come here every time I'm in town and I love this restaurant's food, portions, and service. However, today the checkout experience felt a little uncomfortable. Our new server, Emma, was great overall, but during payment she rushed us through the screen and told me to sign and "press the blue button" without clearly explaining the tip options. Wonderful service, very attentive to my fellow diner with Celiac, plus lots of option for her to eat. We had one of the burgers, a pizza, and a gluten free appetizer board and all of it was amazing. We chose this restaurant for its vegetarian friendly menu and healthy options for omnivores. Our food was fresh, delicious, and the service was great. On a side note, as a new vegetarian, I was pleased to experience creativity and a rich, fulfilling meal. The cream of mushroom soup didn't look appetizing but it was so good that I wanted to lick my cup clean. And pairing pear with Brie and caramelized onions was genius. We came here for an early Mother's Day lunch. The restaurant is cute and very clean. Service was prompt. Appetizers came out within minutes of offering-piping hot wings and calamari---both didn't disappoint. The calamari was crispy and fresh. The wings were supe crispy. The truffle sauce was good as was the dipping sauce . The beet salad was good too. The Mac n cheese portion size was massive. I like the Smokey flavor: The pear sandwich was just ok. The onions overpowered the flavors of the Brie and the pear. The burger was really good, the patty was a tad salty but still really good. The locally made soda pop was hella good. I love KIN! I've been here a handful of times and was more recently here this past Monday for happy hour with my grandma. They have such a great happy hour and every time I go I'm shocked that there aren't more people there for it. Their happy hour is M-F 3-5:30. We got the crab dip to share and iykyk. Their crab dip is SO good and I have to get it every time I come. I got the purist pizza (with a side of ranch of course) and my grandma got the chicken taquitos, each off the happy hour menu and we were both more than happy with our food and such a great value. I've also gotten the loaded focaccia off the happy hour menu and the frickles off the regular menu before and they're both delicious. The service is always fast and friendly here as well.
