What a great place to go right before seeing a show at the 6th Street Playhouse! Location is off downtown near the train tracks. The ambience felt like a good, old-fashioned steakhouse. Made me want a ribeye, which I bet is probably amazing. But since we only had time for light bites and a cocktail, we took full advantage of their Happy Hour Menu. A few small plates to choose from and some handcrafted cocktails along with beer and wine, and a free-spirits fruity mocktail. Service was excellent! Our waiter was attentive and courteous. We were always checked on and our table was always cleared as more food or drinks arrived. We ordered: Kiwi Bloom cocktail - What a gorgeous cocktail! Don't let her looks deceive you. It was delicate and refreshing but packs a punch! (This was not on the happy hour menu.) Spicy Hummus - Nice flavor and not too spicy. The pita chips were seasoned and complemented the dip perfectly. Crispy Calamari - Small little pieces with an even amount of tentacles, my favorite! Came drizzled with a sweet orange glaze so no need to dip it in anything. Prime Rib Banh Mi Sandwich - not quite Vietnamese enough but it was good. Not so Mini Burger - delicious. Truffle Fries - the aroma alone makes you want more. Tuna Tartare Tacos - I like the presentation. The tuna was seasoned but I felt like I needed acid or to dip in ponzu sauce. Oysters on the Half Shell - Kumamoto: - fabulous and fresh! Loved the cilantro mignonette. Caesar Salad with Fried Calamari - HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE DISH OF THE EVENING! Perfectly dressed whole romaine lettuce heart leaves with perfectly crisped and seasoned calamari. This was soooooo good! I've never ordered a Caesar this way nor have I ever seen it on the menu at any restaurant before. I would order this again and again! (This was not on the happy hour menu either.) Thank you for the great service and great food! Definitely come back when I'm in Santa Rosa.

Some on here have described Stark's happy hour as best in class for Santa Rosa. It might be the only happy hour I've enjoyed in Santa Rosa but still, I agree. After a few aborted attempts to lunch elsewhere I remembered that I'd always heard good things about Stark's and it immediately became the chosen venue. Starving by this point, we arrived around the start of happy hour (3-6pm Monday-Friday) which, frankly, sparked joy. It's here, during that time, from a lovely table in the popular bar, that you can get a Beefeater Martini for $6 (limit: 2 per person). You can also get a lot of well-priced food to accompany that martini so I did that as well: oysters (3 for $7), Truffle Fries ($7), a "Not-So-Mini Burger" ($10), a Prime Rib Banh Mi (($9, more like just a small sandwich featuring prime rib), and something chocolatey and luscious to finish things off. By the time we left, Stark's bar area was full. Everyone knows and supports what's going down here. Stark's, I observed, runs like a very well-oiled machine: there's ample staffing, all are on their game, friendly, efficient, good food, nice presentation, pleasant surroundings, and just 100% top-notch all-around. They exemplify great hospitality. As much as I like trying new places, if someone suggested Stark's happy hour again in the future, it might just be me. Other stuff: * A reasonable 2% "back of house" service charge added to all food/beverages

We celebrated my husband's 40th here! At first I was a bit dismayed because we were seated in the corner and I wanted to make this day special for my husband. So i said, they better have great food! Our server tho made us very special and was very cheerful, attentive and friendly! We ordered steak (must!) with blue cheese butter and steak sauce on the side. Mac And cheese, so asparagus, mussels which I loved so much! We split everything! Then our cocktails were so refreshing and i had a 2nd one! After that I ordered the cheese cake for dessert and my husband was full. But since its his bday they gave him a special ice cream with candle to blow. We enjoyed our dinner and everything was delicious! We will definitely go back!

Always love date night at Starks Steak and Seafood. Perfectly timed with a touch of early March celebrations, it's the kind of evening that feels just right. Love the casual elegance and the beautiful, relaxed atmosphere that makes every visit special. Thank you Bryce for being so welcoming, informative, and attentive.

Happy hour is amazing! Great food, great drinks, and everything was delicious. The staff is always friendly, and it's one of my favorite spots. Highly recommend!

By far one of the food highlights of our trip. I booked a reservation for the Friday before Valentine's day. When we arrived, there was a 45 minute wait, but we were immediately seated with our reservation. From the outside, this place looked like an old diner, and the surrounding neighborhood was not the best. But I was pleasantly surprised by just how beautiful the inside of the restaurant was. Our host was amazing. Throughout the entire meal, she was kept checking on us and offer great suggestions on sharing. My wife and I were sharing our steak and they offered to have the steak precut in the kitchen. This was very appreciated. Everything on the menu is à la cart, and just as our waiter suggested all of the sides were large enough to share. The food was amazing. Our prime rib was cooked to absolute perfection. The 4 cheese Mac and cheese is a must try! For dessert the Chocolate banana bread pudding was everything you needed! Highly recommended Starks! Wish we were from the area. We would be back often! Hopefully our travels will bring us back someday.

    Oysters and Vodka Martiny
    Kaz Y.

Arriving ahead of my party, I took a seat at the bar and began the evening with a classic vodka martini accompanied by California oysters, an impeccable introduction. The oysters were pristine and briny, and the martini, properly chilled and balanced, set a confident tone. The bar staff were polished, attentive, and engaging without ever being intrusive. Once seated, the experience continued seamlessly. We selected seared scallops and butterfish, complemented by a range of classic sides, baked potato, etc. The scallops were expertly executed, caramelized to a delicate crust while maintaining a tender, almost buttery interior. The butterfish lived up to its name, rich and silky, with a depth of flavor that lingered pleasantly. What stood out most was the cohesion of the dishes. The sauces, in particular, were layered and thoughtfully composed. They were so compelling that, by the end of the meal, we found ourselves savoring every last drop with bread, unwilling to leave anything behind, all while enjoying a steady cadence of well-crafted martinis. Service throughout was seamless and professional, striking the right balance between attentiveness and restraint. The atmosphere carried a lively yet refined energy, well-suited for both intimate dinners and celebratory evenings. Starks delivers a dining experience that is both polished and indulgent, one that justifies a deliberate visit rather than a casual stop.

What a wonderful steak house in Santa Rosa! Came with a group of 5 for a bachelorette dinner and was impressed from start to finish. Our table started with the bread which was delicious and warm along with the calamari. The calamari had a little heat but nice and crunchy, exactly what you want your calamari to be. To share we had the mashed potatoes, kale salad and Mac and cheese and for the mains most of us got the petite surf and turf. The mashed potatoes were creamy, the Mac and cheese gooey and the kale salad perfectly lemony. The shrimp had a kick of heat but was cooked well. The steaks were all easy to cut and cooked the way we ordered. The waiter was also so sweet and attentive. She knew the specials off the top of her head and checked in on us many times during service to make sure everything was cooked well.

Stark's Steakhouse in Santa Rosa is one of those places that feels like a special occasion the moment you walk in. The atmosphere has that classic steakhouse charm with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a lively but not overwhelming energy. The Bone in Prime New York steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, clearly high-quality meat that didn't need much more than seasoning to shine. The sides were rich and satisfying,. They were great for sharing, and the portions were generous. The cocktail menu was another highlight, with well-made drinks that complemented the meal perfectly. The service was attentive and professional without feeling rushed, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. And the old-school R&B playing in the background (including Prince) made it even better... well, at least for me! It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality, ambiance, and overall experience make it worth it for a night out or a celebration. Stark's delivers exactly what you expect from a classic steakhouse, and does it very well. The oysters were delicious. The sticky rice was okay. It's not exactly Thai stixky rice, butnit worked for a steakhouse. One neat touch was the cool vintage phone booth at the bar, which was especially fun to show our daughter. Little details like that added to the overall charm.

We decided to start our Christmas vacation at a fancier spot and Stark's did not disappoint. Positives: -service was definitely a highlight as much as the food that was served. We came a little early and they accommodated us earlier than our reservation time. Our waiter enthusiastically described for us the nights specials and was very knowledgeable of the menu. Throughout the night they made sure our water was topped and that our experience was memorable. -food was amazing from beginning to end. The free bread is great, but beware it will fill you up. Even the side of rice was delicious, me and my wife couldn't stop eating it. We want to recreate rice like that ourselves at home. The crispy calamari was a pleasant surprise as it had some Asian flavors that we did not expect. For our main dishes I got the prime rib and my wife got the scallops. Both were great, my prime rib was cooked to perfection (mid rare) and very tender. Negatives: -given this the type of fare and the fancy atmosphere; you would be expected to pay a little more. Having said that, BJs had the audacity to charge me $35 for a very poorly cooked prime rib....you can't even say you get what you paid for because that is a rip off. Overall 5/5 For the rice alone we will be back here again.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant, I noticed it on Yelp when I moved here. We decided to dine after the HenHouse event. Everyone who served us was outstanding. The food OMG yes we need to repeat history again. We both enjoyed our meals, the bread and butter melted in my mouth. My friend enjoyed her steak, it was juicy and tender. My meal made my eyes explode at the sight. We split the onion rings, the sirloin was perfect, medium well for me. I enjoyed the greeter she hd a smile to die for, she's the right person for the job. Our waiter gave us good eye contact and checked on us frequently. We truly appreciated him for his swiftness, he made us feel important, everybody was great. We took the leftovers home, we shall return.

Hickory Smoked Prime Rib of Beef

Hands down one of the best steakhouse experiences I've ever had. The prime rib and ribeye were cooked perfectly--juicy, flavorful, and just melt-in-your-mouth good. The sides weren't just fillers either--the mashed potatoes were creamy, the broccolini had the right crunch, and the garlic bread... oh my god, that garlic bread was next level. Add in the bone marrow (rich, decadent, absolutely worth it) and I was in heaven. The drinks were on point too--elegant, well-crafted, and they just screamed class. It's the kind of place where you can sip, relax, and really enjoy the atmosphere without feeling rushed. And then dessert came. The butterscotch crème brûlée was unreal--silky, sweet, and just the perfect finish to an already amazing meal. I walked out beyond impressed. Great food, great drinks, great vibe. Easily a spot I'd recommend and can't wait to go back.

We were recommended here for their cocktails and they did not disappoint. From the outside it looks like an old school American diner but once you walked in it's a sleek steakhouse. We stayed in the bar area for cocktails and appetizers. We started with the espresso martini for our first round and old fashioned for our second. Both balanced and delicious. Would recommend for great cocktail!

I don't see wagyu on the menu. Do they ever offer it as a special?

Not sure, probably not, BUT their steak and the meat they serve is very very very high quality, you don't need Wagyu! You won't regret dining here. Depending on the cut you like...we personally love their bone in ribeye best, but if you like less…

There is currently no outdoor seating at Stark’s Steak & Seafood.

    No. Indoor only

Our server was incredibly friendly, and the entire room shared the same warm, easygoing vibe. The small, speakeasy themed space was already packed at 5 PM, so reservations seem like a must. Everything we ordered was well-prepared and delicious, but the standout dishes were the beet salad and the shrimp & grits. The beet salad had a perfect mix of textures; chopped pistachios, tender beets, and crunchy radishes over a pillowy ricotta. I finished the salad wishing there was more. The shrimp & grits featured a potlikker sauce that absolutely lived up to the hype; it made the dish. I wish the shrimp & grits were served in a bowl rather than a shallow dish. I found myself chasing the sauce and polenta around the plate, trying not to push it over the edge. That said, if it were in a bowl, I might have just drank the sauce, so perhaps this is the restaurant's way of preserving a bit of dignity for its guests. Next time, I'm hoping to visit when oyster po' boys and fried green tomatoes are on the menu.

The vibe is effortlessly chill, with whimsical decor--think antique lamps, an old record player, and lots of little details that make you want to look around. The whole place felt alive in the best way--buzzing with conversation, laughter, and people clearly having a great time. We didn't have a reservation, but lucked out with seats at the community table. Bonus: the other guests were super welcoming, which just added to the fun, communal feel. We hit happy hour, and wow--it's a good one. Tons of interesting bites and a solid drink lineup. I went with a whiskey sour, my friend had the ginger beer on draft (very refreshing), and we shared the prawns, Brussels sprouts, and creamy mac & cheese. Everything was seriously delicious. Shoutout to our server, Melanie--friendly, attentive, and totally on it, even with the place packed. A couple things to note: it does get loud, so maybe not your spot if you're after a quiet, intimate dinner. Also, the happy hour menu listed Brussels sprouts but didn't mention bacon--I'm vegetarian, so that was a bit of a surprise. (It is noted on the regular dinner menu, which I admittedly didn't check.) All in all, such a fun, lively spot. I'll definitely be back for more bites and cocktails.

My younger son thought it was the best burger he's ever eaten. It was very good. The only thing is the sole was not what we were expecting, it was very meaty/solid. Normally, sole breaks apart easily and very flaky. We would not order this again. For sides, we had frites, button mushrooms provencal & brussels sprouts gratin. We only liked the frites. If we are in Santa Rosa, we would definitely come back. The reason I didn't give a 5 star review is the handle on the brussels sprouts pan was very hot and the waiter didn't tell me it was hot. I touched the handle and burned my fingers severely to the point it blistered up. When I realized my fingers were burned, I asked the waiter for ice and he looked at me confused of why I was asking for ice.
