The missing star is because of the service which was terrible. The food on the other hand was great. Especially the chicken and waffles I had. I'd never had chicken and waffles before, I always thought that was a weird and silly combination, and I still think that. The waffle was okay, not crispy enough for my taste, but the honey butter served with it was very good. The standout though was the chicken. 2 deep-fried pieces that were as good of chicken as I have ever eaten in my life. The breading was flaky and crunchy while the chicken was moist and tender. I could've eaten much more as the pieces were rather small. When I was growing up, just about every restaurant I went to offered fried chicken, now I can't seem to find it anywhere. If you've been foolish enough or bored enough to read any of my other reviews, you know I don't eat beef, so I have a ton of chicken. This was some of the best. read more

The guy who I assume in the manager was seen walking around - he kept interrupting his folks to give them directions but didn't lift a find on helping himself. We stopped in here because we just wanted a little something we could share to eat. They have lots of outdoor seating which is awesome if you like looking at dogs (we do). Service was definitely on the slow side but friendly. Gave me truffle fries when I ordered regular. Unfortunately I didn't realize until later they also charged me more for them. This was our second time eating here. Last time was November 2025. Nothings changed. Service still is very slow. This time we sat at the bar and the poor bartender was slammed! Poor guy was having to service some of the tables, deliver food and make all the drinks. Our order was simple, dry rub wings and Parmesan fries. He had to bring our food and our fries didn't come. We mentioned it to him and we were told they went to another table so he ordered them again. After a bit woman (maybe the manager) showed up and started helping but I never saw a waiter/waitress on the floor. They need help. Understaffed. Will not return. Hubs and I were overnight in Healdsburg and walked around the square. We settled on Healdsburg Bar & Grill. We didn't have to wait long for our table. Water was served promptly and our drinks arrived soon after. We started with the perfect amount of calamari with a delectable vinegar dipping sauce. Hubs had Grilled Achiote Fish Tacos he raved about them. I had the Tuna Poke Salad and it was huge and unbelievably good. The only complaint was it had some weird rice quinoa thick and not very good cracker on it. I just pushed it off to another plate. Two cocktails,1appetizer and 2 entrees, $81 without a tip. The HBG is a true gem in Healdsburg. i have been coming for years, and never disappointed one time. They just get it right. from the NYT accoladed burger, the steak, falafel, etc - they always are a hit. On my most recent visit i had the tuna poke which was awesome! try out with the wasabi dressing they offer for the salmon salad (also fantastic!). If you are in the area give them a try! Things have changed since I was last here 10-15 years ago...for the better. Food and drink were all good and the prices fair, especially for Healdsburg. Nice outdoor area on a warm day and the inside is comfortable, I like the high backs on all the chairs including the bar stools. Next time I will explore the menu a bit more. We went to the Healdsburg Bar and Grill this past Sunday for dinner. We walked inside and stood at the hostess stand a good while and were getting ready to walk out when someone finally came to seat us. We asked to be seated outside, since the outside area looked so nice, but we were seated outside near some sort of utility enclosure. I don't know why they thought we'd want to look at that, so we moved the place settings around so we were facing the main area. The constant waving away of flies meant that we weren't able to really relax. The menu was more limited than expected, and just bar fare. We waited for at least ten minutes before anyone came to take our order. No apology or explanation for the wait. After placing our order of fish tacos and a BLAT, we waited close to 30 minutes before our food arrived. Again, no apology or acknowledgement of the long wait. When a server says something like "Sorry for the wait. We're understaffed tonight." I understand. To say nothing tells me you don't care about me or your poor service. My BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, tomato sandwich) was fine. The bacon was good, the tomato looked anemic, and it was on uninspired white bread, but at least they toasted the bread. It was served with salad greens with some of them wilted. Not much effort there. Spouse reports the fish tacos as "Ok, nothing special." We asked for the check, and it came right away! It was the only time their service was quick. This place was a big disappointment, and not worth the time wasted there. read more

We were drawn in because we normally enjoy beer gardens and this place looks very inviting. We were comfortably seated in the garden area. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The ribs were good, but the accompanying cabbage salad was the worst I ever tasted. Flat, flavorless and soggy. It was so visually unattractive I wonder how it got out of the kitchen! The beet salad should have been good; but it was drowned in vinegary dressing, the arugula was completely smothered and wilted. Using my fork, I picked out the beets and shook them off. Both times the service staff looked frazzled like they were snowed with an onslaught of patrons, but the restaurant was well over half empty and they still consistently provided inattentive service. On my first visit I responded to a Monday night special promoted on their website to be told that they eliminated the special, but had not updated their website. Weeks later the website is not updated. I ordered wings that were fair, but when I asked for more Blue Cheese dressing, the second cup of dressing didn't taste like the first serving and didn't taste like Blue Cheese. I have never been to Healdsburg Bar & Grill before. We met some friends and stopped by for a beer and burger. It was not crowded and we sat outside in a large outdoor seating area that we had very few customers. I ordered a Lagunitas PILS beer and a Classic Cheeseburger cooked medium with fries. We enjoyed our beer and the food was brought out. The burger was cooked perfectly but the fried could have been a little more crunchy. Everything tasted good and would order again. I think we were forgotten because there were very few people out there. We had to track down an employee to get catchup and later napkins. Later another group went outside and we had better service but not great. I would certainly go back there again. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would -- but Yelp requires at least one. After a fun-filled day at Lake Sonoma, my family and I decided to stop by this restaurant for an early dinner while strolling around downtown. We were a group of 7 adults and 4 kids. The outdoor area looked inviting, so we thought it would be a great spot to relax with the kids. When we walked in, we noticed plenty of open tables both inside and outside, and a party of 8 already seated indoors, along with a few people at the bar. Despite this, the moment we entered, we were met with an unwelcoming atmosphere. The host appeared annoyed and uninterested in helping us. We were told there would be a 25-minute wait and that we couldn't be seated due to "staffing shortages" and not having a reservation -- even though multiple tables were visibly available. Their own website notes that reservations are optional, especially for walk-in groups. So we waited, trying to be patient. The kids played near the pool table while we passed the time. But during our wait, we watched several other groups walk in after us and get seated right away. The host wasn't using any tablet, notebook, or system to track reservations, so it's unclear how seating decisions were being made. After waiting over 35 minutes with no update -- and watching table after table fill with parties who came in after us -- we decided to leave. It was clear to us that we were not being prioritized, and unfortunately, it felt racially motivated. Every other group seated after us did not look like us -- and frankly, we felt unwelcome because of our race. To add to the hurt, we even overheard another party say, "Oh goodness, I hope we don't get seated next to them." That said everything. It's deeply disappointing that in 2025, families of color can still be made to feel like outsiders. Shame on the management and staff. If you value diversity, respect, and basic decency, I highly suggest taking your business elsewhere. We came ready to enjoy a meal together -- instead, we left feeling humiliated and discriminated against. No family should have to experience that. read more
