I love stopping in whenever I find myself in Alamo heights. Their cupcakes are always perfectly sweet without giving you a toothache and their other baked goods are just as good. I also love getting their artichoke and spinach grilled cheese for a quick lunch because it's so convenient and tastes incredible! Literally melt in your mouth GOODNESS! Probably one of the best sandwiches in town. The staff here is very kind too and they're working fast but efficiently to get everyone their little treats. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time, and we finally got to go this past weekend! Pros - super cute and inviting interior - tomato basil soup was so good, but not sure if it was worth the price ($5) because of the small portion size...I also wish they could at least include a small toast with it - service was quick - they use sonic ice for their drinks! - organized system of ordering and delivering food - love how the baked goods are displayed, it made me want to try everything! Cons - their menu was a little hard to read on the wall and the prices weren't posted anywhere - parking spaces are a bit limited - icing on the cupcakes were a bit too much. We ended up having to scrape off most of it - their drinks were tasty, but they put way too much ice...next time I'd ask for light on ice I'd love to come here again for a chill afternoon with a baked good and drink, but it isn't a place I'd go out of my way for. read more

I can't believe I just stumbled upon this place recently, it was amazing! I stopped in for a coffee and to my surprise, the latte was large and reasonably priced, not one of those lattes your order where they only have one size and it's mini! It was also by far the best latte I've had in San Antonio. They have an array of treats, mostly cupcakes, but some cookies and tarts as well. It was too early in the day for me to order a cupcake, but they had samples out of a cookie that I tried and it was heavenly. It's almost every time I order something the person has a terrible snarky attitude. I would understand if it was once or twice, the person could be having a bad day. This place is so quaint. I saw it on tv on some show and had to visit so I went Sunday after my curbside pick up to get something sweet. I chose the famous carrot cake cupcake, a red velvet cupcake and a chocolate chip cookie which was huge. I was afraid everything had been sitting a while (you never know) but last night I took a bite of the moistest carrot cupcake I have ever had, it was delicious and felt like it weighed 5 pounds by itself! A little pricey, but hey, they were good. I loved the lemon and carrot cupcakes the most. Talk about precious! This bakery is adorbs on every level. The time and effort Elizabeth and the rest of the Bird Bakery family has taken in cultivating such a delightful patisserie is evident from the moment you step in. And those decadent delectations will not disappoint. I came yesterday with my "second" mom who was my Valentine. We arrived almost at 2pm and the Birds were busy fluttering! It was a mix of people placing Valentine's Day orders and those grabbing noshes. I chose the half chicken salad sandy with the tomato basil soup, and I asked them to surprise me with a cupcake. My second mama ordered the egg salad sandy. I'm quite picky about my chicken salad. I don't like it too chunky, it must be "wet" enough, tart enough, etc. I went out on a limb because I've heard such great things about Bird's Tarragon Chicken salad, and I was far from disappointed. The seeded bread was nice and thick. The tomato juicy, the Harvarti added the perfect compliment to that flavorful, well seasoned chicken salad. And loves, we need to discuss that tomato basil soup. To Die For! Don't forget to dunk a bit of your sandy on it for pure indulgence. I can still taste the creamy cup of heaven upon my lips. Second mama enjoyed her egg salad but did complain that the bread seemed not too fresh. I believe hers was on the wheat bread. Therefore, I would recommend getting the seeded bread, as mine was delish! So here's the super bummer. It wasn't Bird's fault but my own. I was so excited to have my cupcake later. It was also a birthday present to myself. However, I was in such bliss after my meal, that I went full space cadet and forgot my cupcake! THE HORROR!!!! I didn't realize it until I was home - about 20 min away. ::sigh:: I feel so brokenhearted because every single cupcake I have ever had there (and I've had them all, let me tell you) is impeccable. Ugh! I have no idea what they even surprised me with. I shall miss you cupcake, wherever you may be. Ok, I'm done whining. Cute place, but neither the baked goods, nor the service, nor the cleanliness of the place impressed me. The service is aloof- like customers should feel blessed to be allowed in. Both of the plates our cupcakes and cheesecake were served on had multiple chips, which I'm pretty sure is still considered a health code violation. Our coffees took 10 minutes to arrive even though our server was only working on our order. I was done with my cupcake by the time the coffees arrived, only to have to send mine back because it was in a dirty cup. The mug I received my sea salt caramel latte in had pink lipstick on it. I'm wearing nude lipstick, so there's that. Above all else, we were all disappointed in the taste of our cupcakes. The icing was crusted over and my blue bird vanilla tasted more like a tough, sweet cornbread than a soft vanilla. There was a good amount of tunneling in the cake as well which was most likely the cause of the tough texture. My son said his Luscious Lemon had too little lemon flavor. My husband's Honey Cheesecake was missing the actual honey flavor as well. I'm glad we stopped in- if only to say we tried it- but none of us were impressed enough to return. read more

They have pretty good parking spaces most of the time, but you might not find a parking spot right away on the weekends. The staff are also very very sweet and friendly. :) All their stuff is very very tasty as well. I pretty much like everything I've eaten here. Breakfast wise: - Their granola is fresh and crispy, and goes great with their yoghurt in the parfait. - Their Spinach Artichoke quiche is to die for. Crispy all around on the outside. Very ooey gooey cheesey on the inside. Just cant have enough. Definitely a must try from their breakfast menu selections - Most favorite morning bread would have to be the Nutella Bread. Just divine. - Favorite cupcake at the moment has got to be the Coffee: - They have really fluffy foamy latte! Also served in a very cute large cup. - They are also famous for their Sea Salt Caramel latte. I really like this as well but I've always asked for it to be less sweet.
