A seafood lover's dream! Cozy yet elevated atmosphere with just the right touch of charm. The martinis? Fabulous. Crisp, cold, and perfectly balanced. The seafood tower was fresh, beautifully presented, and brimming with flavor, and the lobster roll was a hit. But the real surprise? The caviar-topped deviled eggs with anchovy cream sauce. Decadent, savory--an absolute must-order. Service was impeccable. We will be back!

My boyfriend & I love Birdie's! As one of our first great date night spots, we've made a point to stop by on several occasions in the past year or so, including this most recent Richmond Restaurant Week. I also booked myself a solo brunch for the holiday-themed Evergreen when he was busy with work obligations. Vibes are most definitely intimate & cute at Birdie's. Drinks are always carefully curated. The bartenders are esp great as my friend who got married at CommonHouse can attest to as they helped with the wedding! Seafood is always fresh & paired with citrus. We love you, Birdie's!!

Birdie's transformation into the evergreen for the holidays and it is SO CUTE!!! Honestly, the vibes here are immaculate. It's so cutesy and whimsical. The service here is amazing. The staff is so kind and patient even when it's super busy. We tried the crab dip which I thought was so good! We got a few drinks here, the uncatchable gingerbread man, the velvet navidad and one other that I cannot remember the name of right now. They were all so good. Definitely recommend this place. Will be back to try some other dishes

This was a cute spot! We stumbled upon their holiday themed space that was definitely giving maximilism vibes. Very festive themed drinks. Yummy food offerings. The squash was tasty with the variety of toppings on top - shout out to the pomegranate seeds. Their take on steak tartare was very good, maybe a little too saucy. Would definitely go again! Definitely check it out.

Stopped into Birdie's after the 10k for a coffee and pastry. Pros: Super cute decor, kindness staff, small but curated menu. Things to note: the lattes were good but not very hot...they were room temp. So if you like a piping hot latte, make sure to ask for extra hot. The oysters were really delicious and I highly recommend. The brunch menu is small and was still full of fall flavors (pumpkin, butternut squash) and I'm looking forward to see if it changes for spring. It's a small place but the food came out quickly so don't be deterred if it's busy. It is located in the heart of downtown so parking may be difficult depending when you go. However, there are a couple parking decks nearby.

TLDR; Their Christmas pop up (the evergreen) is SO FUN. Delicious seasonal cocktails and incredible oysters. Can't wait for next year! Vibes - this is my second time visiting Birdie's during their Christmas pop up. The entire restaurant is covered in decorations making the vibe super fun and inviting. It's really popular so be prepared to wait or sit at the bar if you don't have reservations. Each time our waiter (or bartender) was friendly, attentive, and offered excellent recommendations. Food - everything I've gotten here is delicious. They have a small menu that rotates which can be difficult for picky eaters but my family and I have always enjoyed our meal. Sea bass ceviche: delicious but the sea bass was slightly overpowered by the prominent flavors. Love that it was served on cucumbers. Crab dip: our favorite! SO delicious and comforting. Served with crackers that were equally yummy. We were originally concerned about the portion size but it ended up being a decent amount for 2 people. Oysters: we got 2 of each kind and it was perfect! I'm fairly new to oysters (only having them from one other restaurant in Richmond) and these were a million times better. We liked that there were several types to try - each with a unique flavor profile. Wavelength was the largest but very fleshy. Tasted a lot like the ocean but not in a good way. Will skip these next time. Minnie pearl, beau solieil and northern belle were each DELICIOUS!! They're on the smaller side, and more expensive, but absolutely worth it. For drinks we got their seasonal equivalent of an espresso martini (delicious!!) and a very clean martini which tasted like literal rubbing alcohol. If you like your martini's clean (or enjoy gin) this drink is perfect! It's served in two little bottles which was cute and adds a festive flare but my friend who likes her martini's dirty didn't enjoy it.

This was my first time visiting birdies and I went in for the holiday theme. The bar was smaller than I thought but it's a decent size. I recommend to make reservations Tried the crab dip. Portion was small but it was good for the most part. The service was superb. Had the espresso martini which was pretty good. I'll definitely go back and try again

The Holiday pop-up far exceeded my expectations! Every single detail was so exquisite and the crafted drink menu is beyond! We tried 3 of their holiday cocktails and they were all delicious! I also love how they include a photo of each drink! A must-do!

I just have to keep coming back! I love birdies so much! It's the perfect bar in the city! The staff is friendly and the drinks are so good, and don't get me started on the French onion dip. It's a bar unlike any in richmond. It feels very European and clean, yet with a vintage flare! I can't recommend birdies enough!

Birdie's has become my husband and I's go-to date night spot. We first visited during the Evergreen pop up and had one of the best times. It was such a fun way to celebrate the holidays between the festive cocktails and the beautifully decorated interior. Every time we go, we get AT LEAST a dozen oysters and I would definitely venture to say that it is the thing that they do the best for sure. The accoutrements are perfect and all of the oysters are fresh and clean. They offer a variety and they are organized on the menu from saltiest to sweetest, which is helpful for people like myself who enjoy oysters frequently! We have also enjoyed some others on their menus. Here's what I would highly recommend: COCKTAILS- Sparrow (perfect pairing for oysters, you won't find better), I'm a Pretty Little Birdie, Bloody Mary for Brunch. They also serve Blanchard's Coffee. FOOD- house made salt & vinegar chips are DIVINE. Oysters are a must obviously. Also enjoyed the Lobster Roll, Cucumber & Honey Dew (Brunch), Biscuits & Gravy (Brunch) and Shrimp & Grits (Brunch). A few things that I personally wouldn't recommend is the hot dog, Shrimp Toast, Night Owl, and Crudo. I think the quality for the food was there, these just weren't my favorite flavor wise. The Night Owl has a banana component, and is not what I'm looking for when I am in the mood for an espresso martini. So it is a no from me, although my husband enjoyed it. The service here is slow during brunch, but prompt during dinner service. Overall, we LOVE Birdie's and will continue to frequent and bring friends and family when they are in town.

Stopped in for restaurant week. Excellent service by the staff (Matthew?). Attentive and always checking in as needed. Small space inside, but seating is arranged tastefully. Food was 9/10, particularly the lobster and shrimp roll as well as the oysters. Fun menu of tasty cocktails. Would recommend trying out if you are in the area, but not if you have a large group!

Birdie's is a fun spot for oysters, mixed drinks, wine, or cafe drinks. It can get pretty busy, but there is usually a seat at the bar if reservations are full. As a member of Common House, I love having two options for places to get food and drinks. I went for dinner last night with my mom and Evergreen decorations are still up. Evergreen is their holiday bar. I got the Broken Bulb which tasted like a christmas spritz. My mom and I shared the seafood tower. In the past, I have been obsessed with the seafood tower. This time it wasn't quite as good as I remembered it. We weren't big fans of the pickled clams and mussels (note: I'm a huge fan of pickled things so was shocked I didn't care for these). They ran out of sardines, so they gave us the lobster salad which was yummy. The oysters were good, but they've been better in the past. Maybe it was just the types they had that night. I'd still come back to try the seafood tower again. We ordered a side of bread which really added to the seafood tower. Like I've said before: Birdies is pleasing to the eye and the taste buds. Things are done beautifully and intentionally. I really love it when food and drink not only look good, but taste good too.

Went to this place as a Holiday pop up crawl and will say this place is my favorite! So festive, cute and cozy! Even tho it's a bar, it also has non alcoholic beverages, fortunately I was able to get a hot chocolate in the cutest mug. The prices are reasonable compared to others and for the season include 20% gratuity. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful regardless how busy she was. Definitely worth it!

I ordered the just fish that comes with ten (10) pieces. Yes count them 1, 2,3,...10. Just like the Count on Sesame Street. Everyone is locked on right. I paid the money and the guy at the counter charged me for how many? Ten (10) fish pieces. After my short wait, my order was ready. The guy at the window showed me the fish looking golden brown and delicious. Hot piping hot. I said they looked good and ready for liftoff. Got to the car and my wife and I were happy at the time. After several hours and other stops we made it home. We live in Baltimore Md. A short 4 hour ride away. When my wife had unpacked the food and she asked me did I eat any fish? I said No? If I had she would have killed me before the plate got cold. She said that then they (Sugar's) did not give us piece number 10. The Boss was not happy and neither was I. Now I don't mind paying for delicious food and will do again. What I do mind is paying for fish that does not appear on my plate. I felt RIPPED OFF! If someone in the back of the house can't count to ten (10) and your employing someone who doesn't know how to count to 10, I am wondering what else is going on in the back of the house. Advise 1) Moving forward I will ask them to count them before accepting the finished product 2) Don't buy the Onion Rings. My wife does not care for them and she is an Onion ring person. Soon after we. Ordered the octopus and mussel appetizers a storm came in and the rain fell pretty hard. Our choices were to run back to the hotel or stay and dine huddled under an umbrella. Being a little wet with beverages and good food seemed the better option so we ordered more food. The octopus was great. I have tried it prepared many ways and here it was both tender and flavorful, really done well. Shrimp cocktail is usually pretty basic, but often the simplest dishes demonstrate the most skill. This is truly one of the best I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and flavorful. Their cooking stopped at just the right time leaving a slight bit of translucent hue, but still cooked through. Very nicely done. The salad with home ranch was dressed nicely and the dressing was light. The scallops were cooked well and perhaps my only criticism is that the corn purée was better in concept than execution. I can't say enough about the staff. We were two people on a Sunday night crazy enough to dine in a downpour. The staff never made us feel like they wanted to punch out, embraced us being outside and were creative in waiting on us with umbrellas to keep the food from getting wet. It would have been understandable for them to limit the trips to check on us, but they persevered and made us feel welcome. Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.
