I've been here about 3 or 4 times now for a wash and blow out and see Alex. She makes me feel comfortable and styles my hair well. I also receive good washes here. The establishment is clean and all the workers from the receptionist, to the washers to the stylist are really friendly and keep you in the loop. They deliver good customer. I have never had any issues, and I have loved the new addition of being able to book an appointment online. They are pretty quick and efficient and I have never had any issues with heat damage to my natural curls. I had a very good experience at this salon. I got a wash, set, blow dry and flat iron. I had accidentally made the appointment for the wrong day, but they were very accommodating. They squeezed me in and I was still able to get my hair done. There were a few other customers and the process still went fairly quick. I have very thick, curly hair and they were able to give me a good silk press which is hard to find. I would 100% recommend to anyone interested. I will definitely be going back! read more

Her effortless spirit in interacting with all the clients & stylists displays such a family oriented environment. She is very hands on & attentive as a business owner, which is always a plus. Back to my FABULOUS coloring...Griselda is the "Bella Bomb" of hair! She made my little strands of seasoning aka gray streaks disappear. If I could give no stars I would! My mom made an appointment at this place the day before. They were super sweet on the phone. The day of the appointment she got there and she was told that her stylist was at lunch and she was going to come back soon. Then another lady walked in stated talking to the said stylist and had a whole conversation at this point it's like 20 mins past her appointment time. Then stylist starts to straighten someone's hair but no one says anything to my mom; not an apology we're running late or nothing! They ignore her and nothing happens. She waited a whole 50 mins and no one said anything. She walked out without saying anything and left. So a zero for customer service! read more

I've had my hair done here for 3 years. I have fine hair which doesn't need a lot of heat to straighten. At this salon I only see one stylist, however recently the quality of service has changed to subpar. To give more insight I have shoulder length fine hair, my go to service is a wash and blow which cost $75. For some reason (this has happened 5x) a roller set is added to the service. I don't usually get a roller set because it dries out my hair too much, two other hair stylist told me not have it done. Anyway, when I call in to schedule an appointment everything goes through but when I come in my appointment is not in the system. In the past the service has been fine no issues. Now it seems to have changed to this assembly line. Anything done outside of having a wash&set blow is talked about negatively. Its also too pricey to except whatever. read more

I love Biro! I'm from NJ and have been to manyy Dominican salons, so I was really nervous about having to find a new one when I moved to the DMV. Biro is hands down the BEST Dominican salon I have ever been to! The owner, Rosa, goes out of her way to make sure each customer is comfortable and their needs are being met. They also offer nice touches, such as tea, coffee and snacks (pre-COVID). Biolecia did amazing with my highlights and lowlights. I went from my natural dark brown/ black to blonde streaks which was a pretty drastic change and I absolutely love it! I have been going to this salon for over 5 years however I will not be going back. The customer service is not consistent, the prices are too high and the stylists are often rude. Although I thought the owner, Rossy, was good at what she does, however she has proven to not be. Her focus is on expansion not valuing her customers. I went to get my hair colored on the 31st and had to wait 45 minutes before being seen. If I was late 45 minutes, I would have lost my appointment. I was not greeted when I arrived. My scalp was burning from the products and I had to let my stylist know but she seems bothered that I did. I have witnessed staff treat some customers better than others. This is unacceptable. I texted Rossy several times to see if we could chat before leaving this review BUT she decided not too. Although I am a little disappointed in her actions, I can accept that I am not as important to her as her other clients. Please be mindful of the way you treat people. Be consistent on the services that we pay so much for. Allow your customers to be more included in your environment. Don't start speaking Spanish when a customer is having an issue or need, this can be perceived as rude, especially when the 98% of your clients are Black and do not speak Spanish. Businesses grow because of the people that need a service or product and they fail because they stop carrying about the needs and services they provide to their customers. Become more aware of how you treat your customers. I hope my chemical treatment will not damage my hair but if I have some problems I will let you know Rossy. The result is a wash and set, blowout, trim, and style that is beautiful. My recommendation, GO! I was very unpleasantly surprised by the way I was treated . I actually called ahead and asked about hours of operation and was told that the salon operated by appointment only . I made an appointment and was amazed at how professional and respetful the representative was on the telephone . I have been patronizingBiro for a year now and I have always had fantastic results. I came on a recommendation from a friend whose hair is always beautiful. I have only used Micky and she rocks!!! She does a bang up job in all three categories, color, cut, and style. My hair is long, naturally curly and can be heavy. Her blow outs are great! The owner Rosie is lovely and always walks around and checks on all her customers. They go over all of the pricing before they start on your hair which I really appreciate. I usually go between Wednesday and Friday. It does get crowded as the afternoon work crowd comes in but really I would say there was only one time I had to wait too long and Rosie gave me a free deep conditioner to compensate and I hadn't even complained. First, to all that submitted a review, I want to thank you. If weren't for the reviews, I would not have attempted to try Biro. The reviews weren't my only factor for trying Biro. Their website was very easy to navigate around. The fact they already had prices for their services allow me to compare other locations in the area. Speaking of location, it's minutes away from my job and that is key for me. Yesterday, I visited Biro after work to see the place and discuss my wishing for a new color with highlights Everyone, whether they were available or not, welcomed me as if i were an existing client. I met Ana and to my surprise, I went from consultation to actually getting my hair done. Now, my hair is thick and long, towards middle of my back. I dyed it black about a year ago. For those, who know, removing black is no easy task. Ana, already knew what she was up against to achieve the color I was looking for. With this being said, I want to wholeheartedly praise Biro and especially Ana for: 1: Taking me in the late afternoon to start a process that will take her after their closing time. 2. Ana meticulously watched every moment during the bleaching process to ensure my hair was not going to suffer in any way shape or form. 3. Ana also made sure the blonde and red highlights did not run into each other. 4. Ana did not rush or cut corners to get me out of there quickly. She takes so much pride in her work! In fact, we were done around 11:15PM. 4 hours plus after closing!!! Thank you Ana!!! The level of customer service I have received from Biro was truly amazing!!! GRISELDA IS AWESOME!!!! I have tried various Dominican salons in the area and was usually met with a general lackadaisical attitude. Biro's Salon defies the norm! I have been several times and the results have been phenomenal. Someone always greets you when you come in and I never wait more than five minutes before someone pulls me into a shampoo chair. The staff gets along well and invoke a family atmosphere without compromising their professional standards. I recently went in for a drastic haircut (past shoulder to partially shaved) plus a relaxer and Griselda did a magnificent job!!!! She didn't balk like other salons I went to and she took her time making sure it matched the picture I gave her. Everyone loves my new haircut (including the hubby) and it feels like I totally overhauled my look. So after my first visit, the salon owner/manager reached out to me on Yelp and offered to re-do my service. That ALONE speaks volumes on their customer service. Been wearing my fro for weeks now since it only seems to rain here like every dang day!!! I wasn't prepared for this MD rainy weather! It's like Florida pop up showers everyday. Anyways, I was promptly and pleasantly greeted upon coming into the salon. I asked about roller setting prior to blowout as it could help stretch my tight coils and ease the blowout session thus limit too much pulling and tugging which equates to hair loss. My stylist was Liris, she was great!!! I LOVED, loved the scalp massage I got wash set and blowout with deep conditioning. The coupon was an added plus. I could tell my nappy coils almost got the better of her but she pulled it on through. I liked the end result but a good old straighten comb could've hit up the tight spots and ends a little faster than the blow dryer and round brush. The hospitality was great!!! I was offered tea and allowed to use their wifi. This was a bit of a drive for me but worth it in a pinch. I hate to get stuck in traffic which seems totally unavoidable here. Anyways for all of these reasons I would rate 4.5 due to legth of time to complete. Simce that's not an option I've chosen to give this salon 5 stars. Hope your experience is as positibe as mine was. I have never been to a Dominican Salon where it didn't feel like you were in a noisy chicken yard with folks yelling over the noise of the industrial blow dryers and listening to some really inappropriate conversations best left at home. Not to mention, those places always burned me so bad that I would only visit in yearly cycles. Biro is another place all together. The ladies are super nice and do amazing work. So I came here over the weekend for a blow out. I had a 12:45 appointment. I came in and got my hair washed and deep conditioned immediately. They told me Ingrid was supposed to finish my hair. I sat and watched Ingrid do her own hair from the time I walked in until I left. I informed the woman at the desk that I needed to be gone before 3, 3:10 the latest as I had a flight that day. By the time that 1:45 came Ingrid still had not touched my hair and the lady who washed my hair then had to blow dry me and start my style. By 3:00 I still wasn't done and still was in the chair. I informed them that it was too late and I had to go, btw this was when Ingrid finished cutting my hair and yes (they quoted me another price once I was finished) and I still wasn't fully flat ironed. I understand that as a walk in customer you are subject to wait, however the waiting time extensive. If the wait time could be more seamless and the prices a little less I would return more often. I've been to the salon about 5 times now and I am finally leaving a review because of the experience I just had. Last week I went to get my hair done with my little baby in tow. The owner took her time to understand exactly what I wanted and I was extremely happy with the final result. My natural hair was colored, highlighted to perfection. I watched which products were being used for my hair and they weren't cheap. Furthermore, when my little guy got fussy, she asked if she could hold him for me so I could finish quickly. As a busy mom just trying to squeeze in a hair appointment, I thought that was incredibly sweet! When you visit the salon, she talks to you about what services you want and exactly how much it will cost so there's no surprise or confusion. I really appreciate this. Prepare to spend a lot of time here if you're going to get your hair done. You will be under a dryer for an hour and after that actually get blown out. I never spend less than 3 hours here. Go see Ada and stay VERY far away from Griselda. She does not do a good job at shampooing, cutting, or even a simple blowout. She messed up my sisters hair more than once and messed up mine once as well. Despite giving her instructions on how we wanted it done she didn't do a good job at all. When she messes up she doesn't care to make sure the client is okay either. She will continue taking other clients and act like nothing is happening. She shampoos very roughly and tangles the hair. Then she rakes a comb through it causing so much breakage and damage. I come here often but like I said when I do it's ONLY TO SEE ADA AND NO ONE ELSE. Ada is very careful and everyone knows she's the best. when she cuts my hair she takes her time and she's extremely careful when doing so. she will even ask me to stand up due to the length of my hair so she can ensure it's completely even when trimming it. read more

This was my third time going to Biro. The first two times I had the same stylist and she was relatively knowledgeable about natural type 4 textured hair. I was happy with my results and my curl pattern returned after I washed and conditioned at home. This last time I went into the salon on a Friday and did not see the lady who I had gone to so I requested Griselda. I had also seen her manage my hair type well! The lady at the front desk told me that I could get Griselda but that someone else would wash and set my hair. I was fine with that so I proceeded. The young girl Ada that washed my hair was so arrogant and attitudinal and I honestly should have just gotten up and left at that point but I was paying the "black tax" and questioning the responses I would get if I got up and spased out! So I decided that patience was a virtue... biggest mistake of life! Never again!!! You will get all of this black girl magic next time because this girl left my hair fried... Im not sure if she put something in the shampoo or what but my hair is straight and I can not reverse it! I want to destroy these people for damaging my hair this way! All I wanted was a blow out and now my hair will not return to its original texture!
