This place is great! We went here yesterday, for dinner-- it's always busy, because everybody loves this place-- they have 44 beers on tap, plus a full bar. Love the food- try the ITACATE TACOS!! The shells are made from melted cheese, then stuffed with shredded pork carnitas, avocado, and other delicious things... these are the best damn tacos I've ever had!! Very poor performance on the management, I've been going there for the past 2.5 yrs and it concerns me that having a group of over 10-12 friends after a few hours they cut us off on beers, I understand the safety part of things for a restaurant however we had several group of friends that left and others that took their place in which it made it seem as if we had the same people there, however there were maybe 3 of us in which I came towards the tail end of the first shift. the restaurant decided to cut us completely off from any type of alcohol, as they have every right to do, per the restaurant regulations. with that being said if I ever want to have any kind of of business or celebration type of entertainment I will look elsewhere, the management was very disappointing and very disrespectful in every kind of way on how they just dismissed us in which led us to just walk out with just paying out tab and never want to return, considering we have a lot of friends and family that will no longer use their services..if you have a big group coming in and out and replacing others, THEY WILL CUT YOU OFF!!! Update: Came here this past Wednesday for lunch. It was well after lunchtime so we missed the crowd. We were allowed to sit where we wanted so we chose one of the normal height tables in the corner. My wife had the fish and chips and I had the Taphouse Burger with smoked gouda. Dee-licious! The fries were really good, hot and crispy. Found this fun little spot and honestly, it was great all around. They were super busy, but our server got us seated quickly and came over to take our drink order. She truly was the sweetest, and brought the humor, which we appreciated. She made some great recommendations, and was attentive the entire time, despite how busy she was. The place itself isn't big, but they do have a decent amount of seating and patio seating as well. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful- the do custom burgers, and had tacos with a cheese shell instead of traditional, and honestly, it was a place we would go back to time and time again. I'm impressed. I waited to write this review until I had been several times. The food is always good, service is great and the price is right. It is always clean and you feel like the owner and management care. The only dessert they have on the menu is cheesecake which was a major turn off for me until I learned why. The cheesecake is a huge reason I love this place. They make it in house and change it almost weekly. Props to the cheesecake maker they are delicious. Cinnamon roll cheesecake and Kit Kat cheesecake two of my favorite so far. I want to go weekly just to try the next flavor. Another reason I love this place is because it's great for the family, grabbing a beer with the boys to watch a game, a glass of wine with a girlfriend or a casual date. It works for everyone. I always look forward to eating at the Taphouse as I love the rotating beer list. This was a good night, as they brought back my favorite, Salty Crew, which I eagerly ordered. Our server was very friendly and eager to make us happy. My beer came over with a perfectly crafted foam top and that delicious flavor I crave. We quickly ordered and food came out unexpectedly fast. Hubby ordered the fish and chips, which came out piping hot...so much so, that he burnt his tongue. Fries were perfectly cooked and the tarter sauce was delicious. Brother ordered the Carolina BBQ sandwich and thought the pork to be nicely flavored, though not a true Carolina bbq (he lived in the Carolinas), tender and overall a great meal. I ordered the Prime Rib dip, which is outside the norm for me, but came highly recommended by a friend. I was hugely disappointed as the prime rib was so overcooked, it was chewy, dry and not at all what I expected. The cheese and horsey sauce saved the day, and of course, me having to drown the bites in the au jus. The service, food, and drinks are always good here. There aren't many good food options in Star, but this is definitely one of them.

Met up with some friends for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised to find they did brunch on the weekends. Two of us got breakfast and the other two got lunch, along with some snacks. Chips and guacamole and jalapeno poppers to start. The guacamole was great, the chips were definitely on the stale side. The jalapeno poppers were very good, not spicy and the bacon was crispy. $4 bloody Mary's were fine. On the spicy side, no celery, olives, or salt rim and exactly what I'd expect for $4. Great beer list, good selection of wines and a full bar. Service was very friendly and prompt. We visited for a while and didn't feel rushed at all. Everyone loved what they ordered. Their fries were excellent! I got the prime rib dip. Could have used either more seasoning or Horseradish sauce. It was hot and very cheesy. Big portion size. Lots of tvs with various sports on them all. Great looking patio, but it's mid January and they didn't have the heaters on when we were seated so we had a table inside. The menu we got was a bit smaller than what is online. I was really wanting to try the fish and chips or the tacos with a melted cheese shell, but neither were on the menus we got. read more

Cute spot in Boise to grab lunch and a beer (or cocktail) before heading to the airport. The food was good, the service was great, and the decor was full of nostalgia -- total throwback vibes in the best way. I enjoyed it so much I completely forgot to take pictures... which only means I'll have to go back next time I'm in Boise. It was my first time stopping in while we were dropping off my father-in-law at the airport. He'd been before with my brother-in-law -- and since those two enjoy their beers, it makes perfect sense they already approved of this place. The burgers are amazing! The normal buns are great, the gluten free buns are ok. Very fragile. They are a very biscuit-y texture. Taste is fine, just kinda hard to eat with. They fall apart. We are always seated very quickly and drinks come fast! They do get quite busy, so plan accordingly if you plan on going during sports! It is a sports bar! They have lots of tables, a pretty good sized bar and an outdoor seating section that is closed in and has heaters. read more

Fantastic dry rub chicken wings. And the personal pizza are very tasty. We go there quite often for the happy hour. All the other foods are very tasty also. This was a good date night place. Love the fresh new feel inside. All the servers were young and looked like they were having a good time working there. I had a Taphouse Burger with Cheese and No Bun and a Side Salad with Ranch. 5/5 Stars My husband had their Chicken Tacos and he said it was absolutely delicious! 5/5 Stars We were still hungry so we shared their Nacho Fries and they were amazing as well! 4/5 Stars All our food was really great! I realize as I write this review it's more about the lack of option in Star rather than the Taphouse itself. I would say the food is pretty good. Just a pretty limited menu that never changes. Mixed drinks aren't great but I would imagine most people go there for the beer. read more

We had a party of apx 30 people at the TAP HOUSE. They could not have been more accommodating, they had the back area set up for us, table chairs and heaters. RACHEL and SAVANNA were our servers. There were 2 of them and 30 of us. We never waited for a drink, and if we asked for anything we had it right away. The most amazing thing was the food! This place has completely lost their ability to put out quality food. We had a family event there and three of the burgers were raw in the middle. I had to get up and take the plates to the kitchen myself and explain the burgers were too raw to be consumed. As a result, I was ill for the next 18 hours with stomach pain and extreme nausea. Hamburger must be cooked to 160 degrees internally to kill all bacteria. We highly recommend you avoid this establishment until they can bring on qualified cooks who understand food service fundamentals and serve safe rules to prevent food borne illnesses. Taphouse Pub & Eatery in Star is related to the same-named original venue in Boise. Located near the Ridley's in Star, it sits in between Proof Craft Pizza & Cocktails (see my reviews) and Papa Murphy's. The exterior of Proof and Taphouse are nearly identical, but that is where the similarities end. Had these two restaurants not sat next to the other, my perspective might have changed slightly, but in the same light, the comparisons are unavoidable. Walking up to the entrance, the outdoor dining "patios" for each become obvious - same builder for this section of the center. Nice modern design. Looking closer, it became obvious that the outdoor area at Proof has a much more finished and inviting appearance. The outdoor patio for Taphouse seems to be identical in structure, but at the current time is weather-enclosed using translucent plastic that looks like bubble wrap. Really looks unfinished. They do have multiple portable heating units on the patio and the appearance does not make it unusable, if not visually appealing. Proofs' patio area on the other hand is nicely enclosed with large, scrollable screens. Big difference in appearance. But we are here for the food, so let's take a look inside. My first impression walking into Taphouse is appropriately enough, a sports bar that serves food. Decently sized bar area facing multiple TV screens and plenty of beverage taps. Multiple high-top tables and traditional tables surround the bar area and wrap slightly around to the opposite end towards that patio. We were promptly seated (lunchtime) and ordered our beverages. From a service standpoint everything was good. The noise level was expected but did not interfere with our chatter at all. Plenty of options that seemed to be aligned with any other restaurant of the same type. I went for the Fish & Chips (Beer battered flaky white fish fillets served with house made tartar sauce and french fries or a different side), the wife chose the Club sandwich (Panini style focaccia bread with grilled turkey, ham and bacon topped with arugula, Taphouse sauce, tomato and provolone cheese). Service was decent given the lunchtime hour and both plates arrived as ordered. The wife got a side salad with her sandwich rather than fries. Nothing spectacular, but a decent salad in appearance. In the same light, the Club sandwich was simple and passable. I kept my Fish & Chips order as it is listed in the menu. I was pleased to see that the tartar sauce served was roughly double the size of a standard catsup cup (see my picture for scale). Normally I would ask for an additional tartar sauce, but in the case here, that was not necessary. The tartar sauce was good - I was happy with the balance of flavor. The chips (fries) were also good, hot, and served in a good proportion to the fish. The fish... hmmm... key part to this meal. Honestly, the fish itself was cooked nicely - moist, tender, and tasty. For the most part the batter was pretty good. Where I had an issue was the inconsistency in the resulting texture of the coating. Ran into some small, hard chunks of coating that were really tough. Seemed that the batter itself may have solidified a bit prior to coating the filets and frying. I ended up with a couple of these on the side of my plate. A shame because the fish filets were really good. It was not bad enough to flag my server and I finished my plate, but would likely not order the same dish here. All said Taphouse Pub & Eatery in Star was not awful, but it certainly could have been better. The service was just fine. There are some patio shortcomings that would make it more inviting, but given what the experience has been right next door at Proof Craft Pizza & Cocktails, at this point in time there is no question where I would prefer to sit and enjoy a meal. There is great potential for Taphouse, I just do not believe it has put all the pieces together...yet. read more

Food - cheap bar food. Burger meat was typical food service grade, cooked to gray color. Even though I asked for med rare. Fries were over cooked and cold. No flavor. Service - meh. Nice personality but not attentive. Drinks ran out. Ambiance - it's a bar. High tables, a couple low tables. Not so comfy. Loud chatter and music. Echoey. I'm not sure how this rates at 4 1/2 stars but something tells me they're being a little selective on the reviews they choose to keep. Or, perhaps some loyal relatives are helping out there. Definitely not 4 1/2 stars. More like two on a good day. Make no mistake, the people are nice but attention to detail in customer experience is really lacking. Was visiting from out of town and I went in and everyone was so nice and kind amazing staff and grate servous

Service was good. The food on the other hand was not good! Everything that was ordered at the table was mediocre and or disgusting at best besides the wings! The pork was absolutely disgusting and tasted like very old meat and was replaced by a French dip that also tasted like extremely old meat! The naan bread pizza was not kid friendly (server stated it was) and the sauce had a very weird taste to it. Portobello burger was disgusting! Nachos were decent and good portion. Even the soda tasted watered down. The only thing good about the place was the outdoor seating which had good music coming from the restaurant next door and the wings! The wings are probably the best wings I've ever had at a restaurant! However we will never be back because we don't all like wings... read more

I rarely give reviews and I'm usually giving them if the restaurant and/or service is amazing. But I am on day two of what is probably food poisoning from Taphouse in Star. We weren't super impressed by the food or our service the first time we ate here and after this second time, we will not be returning. All of our food tasted old, the coleslaw on my plate of boneless wings was overly sweet and had a rotten cabbage smell, my daughter's Mac n cheese was congealed. And she never turns down a bowl of macaroni! Definitely will be sticking to the tried and true, next door neighbors of Taphouse (shoutout to Proof). read more
