We love going to this place especially after a party night. The birria is very good in consomé or dry with frijoles tortillas made by hand also their carne en su jugo is delicious the only thing is that is you ask for more avocado the price is high but we still pay it cause you need it with your serving. This place is byob. They have fried ice cream which is delicious well they have lots of great items available stop by and try them. The service is amazing everyone greets you on arrival and they are always smiling and having fun the atmosphere is great they treat you like one of them all I can say is thank you to all the staff of this establishment they make everything better. read more

Saw this place on Instagram and could not wait to try it. The pictures were so mouth watering. LOVE that they have parking. Inside was nice, cozy and colorful. Servers were very nice and patient. I ordered steak and chicken tacos, the birria and the chorizo fundido with chips. Everything was delish, but my favorite was the birria. read more

I came here late at light and tried their Birria. The birria that I have always known is made from goat. When I lived in California, I would always see beef birria which isn't original and isn't as good. Here at De La Torre, it's definitely from chivo(goat) and it was on point. They served it with beans and cebolla y cilantro on the side with tortillas. You also have your choice to order it with consume(broth) instead of the beans. I did however order the broth on the side. Next time I will probably just order this with the broth. Anyways, the meat tasted very fresh and they served a very generous portion Their customer service was beyond amazing. They quick with everything and very friendly. My wife wanted to order the carne en su jugo, and the waitress explained what was in it, and even offered to bring a little bowl so she can try it before she ordered it. It is rare when you receive this type of service. The salsa they use for their chips and salsa was extremely spicy and so delicious. I knew just by looking at it that it would be very fiery. read more

Tortilla's are Not handmade as advertised. This really to me takes away from the experience. When you go to a Mexican families home and eat dinner with them, home made tortillas are probably the best to compliment birria. Unfortunately they didn't stick to their guns here and to me that just diminishes the experience. Now to the birria (goat meat), for what its worth, it was okay if that. I have tasted birria that was really succulent and with out bones, my plate had bones and it was not cute. It just didn't seem to be the yummiest of foods for me. But I can say it was okay. My favorite part of the evening was the Sangria (regular sangria de bottela), but they add freshly squeezed orange juice (is it really?) and it gave it a really nice taste. I was happy with it of course. But for $35 for two and an appetizer of guacamole stuffed inside a hard shell of tortilla, I would have to say "It was just OK", and I actually feel bad saying that due to the fact that I really wanted to like it. Oh well, tis what it tis. Is it good for groups? No, the booths seem too small, and as far as kids, nah! But BYOB for sure. read more

First time trying this place. Firstly, asked for handmade tortillas but did not get them. Honestly couldn't tell the difference if there was one. They forgot to give me my drink, and the horchata tasted nothing like how it's supposed to, tasted like a vanilla drink. Since birria is in the name of the place I expected them to be better, but they were so dry and not very good . For 6 (not very good quality)birria tacos the cost is $30.... ???? At the "Birreria" de la torre, I mean come on. I will say the Birria tacos were pretty filled up but tacos del pastor were definitely not good. Unless they had only one option for sauces, they didn't have a green one. Personally would never go back. read more

Biggest disappointment. I got birria tacos with consomé and I don't know where to start. Note that The consomé is not included with the tacos. First of all the tacos are tiny AF. Size of my palm. I had a taco full of bones. Worst part is that the consomé WAS PURE WATER. No flavor at all. Oil and water! Literally paid over $30 for 4 small tacos and 2 small consomés and two sodas. This place has awful customer service. I placed an order on GrubHub my driver showed up and was told they didn't have my order and they will not be fulfilling it. I personally called and the waitress was beyond extremely rude and stated she was not the manager and she would not be helping with the issue at hand. If they aren't able to fulfill Grubhub orders they should not be on the app. That simple. Never again. read more

This place is a quick stop if you are dropping someone at Midway and is worth a drop by if you are in the neighborhood. I wouldn't make the trip just for this place as you can find comparable food in Pilsen or Logan Square. Speaking Spanish is a plus. The carne en su jugo was very tasty and the typically accompaniments were fresh. The goat tacos were also very tasty, but I like Birreria Reyes de Ocotlan much better and it is much easier to get there. read more

Update: 8/1/12 Stopped in with the family a few nights ago since we were in the neighborhood. There are so many taquerias on this stretch of Pulaski, that it is sometimes difficult to choose which one to patronize, but I remembered that this place was comfy, family friendly and had decent menu. Bingo! that is exactly what we were looking for this evening. The place was empty, but with all the taco joints in the area, there are only so many customers to go around on a Wednesday night.. I don't mind being in a sparsely populated restaurant, my food came quick, and our server was extra attentive. Soo.. this time around, I ordered the cheese enchilada dinner, which consisted of 4 enchiladas, rice, beans and shredded lettuce & sliced tomatoes. The meal was a good portion and left me pretty full, even though I shared my rice and beans with my one year old son. The enchiladas were average, the rice and beans were good. All in all, not a bad choice for a quick dinner at a very reasonable price ($7.25). I have to mention that my wife ordered the carne asada sopes and they were very good and a very nice size. I did get to sneak a few bites and was already thinking about ordering them when we come back. 3 star status for Birreria De La Torre.. We tried the birria en consomé and had two tacos, one asada, one pastor. Their menu is big for such a small place. The service was great, but the food needed more flavor overall. The salsas were decent enough, but none very spicy. The birria was cooked well but it did not have a lot of flavor. There was also a lot of fat in the birria, though birria has fat and I'm used to that, this one had a little too much for me. The tacos also had quite a bit of fat with the meat and though they had better flavor, I've had better. It's an overall okay place, I will have to try it again later. read more

the food is good but they are scam artists. they have their menu on there facebook page. I ordered 2 lbs of birriera which is $12.50 per pound on there menu listed on there facebook page, with 1 side of sour creme that was listed for $1.50. i get there they charged me $16.99 per pound and $4!!!! for a side of sour creme. i asked why are the prices so crazy and they said that menu is outdated, but if it was outdated, why wouldnt they update it?? its their facebook page!!! i found that everything on there menu is more money when you get there!!!! i work at a business near by with over 100 employees and now i notified everyone not to go there. read more

My family would always buy some from there for years now. I went today and ordered Birria and a bowl of consomé. The Birria had so much fat and so little meat it was tasty tho. But what for me messed up was the consomé. It just just water and some color didn't had no flavor dIdnt taste like NOTHING. I told the waitress it was not good and just water. She took it back to the kitchen. I don't know what happened but their food isn't good as it was before. I don't think I will ever be back. Great service but the food not good. read more

I love supporting local Mexican owned businesses and it pains me to write this review because I actually like/d this place. It's my favorite place for carne en su jugo but every single time I get carne en su jugo to-go I get a container with hardly any carne. It is all the jugo and sometimes a lot of beans but today, I ordered half a gallon and when I got home, it mainly all jugo and hardly any carne or beans. The price for carne en su jugo is not cheap so I expect to get what I paid for- do NOT order carne en su jugo to go here, they are stingy and you are NOT getting what you paid for.. No queria escribir este review porque es un restaurant que me gusta/ba y me gusta apoyar a negocios como estos. De hecho, la carne en su jugo de ellos es mi favorita pero siempre que compro para llevar llego a casa con puros frijoles y muy poca carne. Hoy compre medio gallon y ni frijoles tenia, puro jugo.
