They have both sweet and savory biscuits that range that are far from typical and ordinary. I went for the Bao Biscuit ($8) this time around - a savory combination of a biscuit paired with Chinese BBQ pork belly, pickled cucumbers and green onions. The pork belly is so tender! The biscuit also has a nice crispy exterior and is soft on the inside. The only downside is that since its so covered in sauce, the biscuit tends to absorb it all at the end.. Biscuit Box is basically a fantastic food option because you get an insanely tasty buttery biscuit and it comes prepared sweet or savoy in different preparations. I stopped by with a friend and I tried the Bao biscuit with the fattest, fattiest slab of pork belly and some pickled veggies. My friend had a Beecher's cheesy biscuit that was smothered in a decadent, gooey cheese sauce. After a few bites we traded for a second because we were curious about each other's biscuit sandwich. All the "yums" and "wows" made us want to try different stuff and both were extremely good. I believe the biscuits run somewhere between $7-10 depending on the type and they are massive. These buttermilk biscuits aren't free today but they're worth the money! Actually, I don't know if these are made from buttermilk or not; and it really doesn't matter because they're REALLY good--not too dense, served at the right temperature, and if you order one of the meal-sized ones (we chose the Foraged Mushroom & Black Pepper Gravy one) it comes with a bit of greens for freshness, a generous hearty amount of mushroom "gravy" and you can get a POACHED EGG on it for $2 more! If you like it then you should've put an egg on it. If you like it then you should've put an egg on it. But only for the sake of stomach space, we skipped on the egg and had as-is. The mushrooms were cooked really well in the gravy and was nearly meaty in its umami. Really superb. They are also serving Spindrift sodas. I loved the grapefruit one! Each flavor tells you how much fruit is in one (for what reason, I'm not sure but it makes the label interesting: Grapefruit = 1/4 of a fresh-squeezed grapefruit, Cranberry Raspberry = 16 raspberries and 9 cranberries and so on.) I was surprised that a sweet biscuit is $5, and a biscuit with some meat is $8, but I figured I'd give both a try. For what it's worth, I started eating both of these as soon as I bought them, so they weren't sitting around and soaking for long at all. The biscuit with summer sidhu strawberry freezer jam was good, but the jam was straight-up liquid. I was expecting actual jam, but this stuff is definitely liquid. When they put the biscuit in a container with the jam, it creeps up the bottom of the biscuit turning it into a soggy piece of bread. It sucks when a biscuit loses its texture, and the biscuits ARE good, but after being drenched in any sauce or jam you can't taste much of the biscuit anymore. The bao biscuit seemed simple enough, and pork belly has never been a bad choice at any place I've been to so I figured I'd give it a shot. Unfortunately the sauce is SUPER liquidy (again), and there's a ton of it, so the biscuit loses its texture as it turns into a soggy mess. The sauce is also really sweet and I couldn't eat much of the biscuit because there was so much weird, sweet sauce on it. The pork belly was also a strange soggy consistency - no texture to it, even in parts that weren't sitting in sauce. Everything was overpowered by the sauce, unfortunately. :( Overall, the biscuits were good, but maybe start separating the jams/sauces out so the biscuit isn't soggy by default. :) I know some people like their biscuits smothered - but it'd be nice if the option for a dry biscuit with a side of sauce/jam existed too! read more

Was excited to see they'd be at Highlands Day - I'm from the South and love biscuits!! The portions were much bigger than I thought they'd be - we got 4 biscuits b/t 2 of us and it was definitely too much. In order of preference: 1) Ham and Cheese - the cheese was melty and gooey - it was more cheesey and less salty ham that I'd like but this was my favorite - the cheese went well with the biscuits. 2) Chicken pot Pie - good flavor!! Good complement to the biscuits 3) Mushroom and Gravy - I love mushrooms but this was almost too much mushrooms - it was very overpowering. I would have put something else with this to balance out the taste. 4) Chinese Pork BBQ - the pork wasn't that tender and the taste wasn't very Asian - it didn't go that well with the biscuit either - def my least favorite. For example, I got the buttermilk biscuit with butter and strawberry freezer jam, and the jam was ladled onto the biscuit so it ends up being more of a strawberry shortcake type situation (with butter not cream and a biscuit not a shortcake and... ok so it's different but still the texture of the soaked biscuit resembles it!). Saw the Biscuit Box truck at the Seafair Mik Carton Derby yesterday. I haven't had biscuits and gravy in a long time, so I decided to give theirs a try. I got the Ham and Cheese biscuits, and it was quite good. The biscuits themselves were fresh and soft. So why the 1 star rating? Their shady ass business practices, that's why. Maybe an hour or two after I ate there, I got sick. Like, explosive diarrhea sick. I barely made it back to my house, BARELY made it to the bathroom. I spent the entire night wracked in pain, shaking, sweating, and wishing I could throw up to relieve the pressure. It's now more than 24 hours later and I still can't keep anything other than water from coming right back out, and my stomach is still painful. A friend of mine, who is also in food service, asked me about the temperature of the food when it was served to me. I remembered that no, in fact, the gravy was not at all hot, it was just warm. She suggested I let them know, in case they had an equipment malfunction. I went over to their Facebook page and posted a comment on their post about that event, letting the know what I had and at what time, and asking them to check whatever equipment it is that keeps the gravy hot. Later I went back to the page to see if they had replied, or had any other question about my food, and I found that they had DELETED THE ENTIRE POST that I commented on. If that isn't shady as hell, I don't know what is. That says to me that they KNEW their temps were not right, and also says they do not give one single ounce of shit about their customers. Let me assure you, there is no biscuit on the planet good enough to make up for the amount of pain I have been in since I ate this crap. This food truck was so cute and quaint and the employees were so warm and welcoming that I had to try it. They have a variety of smothered biscuits and it was extremely hard to choose which one to pick. The choices a ham and cheese that uses Beecher's cheese in it, a tarragon chicken pot pie, a mushroom grave and Chinese bao smothered biscuit. I went with the tarragon chicken and the flavor was fantastic. I wish that the biscuits were a little less crunchy, but that may be personal preference. I would have liked to have a little more gravy also since it seemed like I got half way through the dish and there was none left. read more

I recently hired Biscuit Box for a work party and I was blown away. The party was on the 29th floor which generally creates some difficulty for hiring a food truck. But not Biscuit Box, they have an indoor tent that is awesome. The manager of my account was able to do a walk through before hand and on the day of the event everyone was on time and set up early. Of course the food was delicious, the pork belly sliders were gone before I could get one. I ordered a mixed menu from their associated trucks Gai Box and POPup and it was perfect. My personal favorite were the Fall Vegetarian Rolls (Think fresh roll but magic) and the Chocolate Vanilla Bar. What really put this over the top was the courteous staff. Clearly these gentlemen have been around the block. They even went out of their way to help me set up a few tables after they were done with their own work. I am totally enamored with this brand new food truck. My husband and I first discovered Biscuit Box a couple weeks ago when we stopped by Hilliard's for a pint on a lovely Sunday afternoon. I wasn't hungry, but the friendly biscuit man saw me ogling the menu from afar and called me over. He proceeded to feed me all sorts of samples of jams, pork, and pickled vegetables, notwithstanding my proclaimed lack of interest in actually buying a biscuit. He was so charming, and the samples so tasty, that we promised to return the following weekend. I'm so happy we did. This time we met a different, equally friendly, equally charming biscuit man, who served us a biscuit covered in tomato jam. Hot damn these biscuits are good. Flaky, buttery, salty perfection. It's like making a grilled cheese and putting 8 slices of cheese in it....it's very possible to overdo cheese. The next time I went to give a different biscuit a try, they closed before they were scheduled to close and the guy was rude about it.
