The ingredients are fresh, the cooking is consistent, and the menu items (not just the names, but yes - the names) are creative. If you're like me, and you hesitate when you see an unfamiliar sauce or a jam on your B&E sammy...be brave. These folks know what they're doing. Then to our luck, Sunny Up started showing up on the schedule at Ravenna once or twice a month! The first time they came, we ventured down for breakfast! He was right! They definitely serve up the best breakfast sandwiches in Seattle! My fave is the Mia Ham. Rosemary Ham, Egg, Havarti cheese and garlic mayo on a ciabatta bun. I love how the menu items are inspired by as well as an ode to badass women. The marketing was a seller for me at first, but I was completely taken away after trying the sandwiches. My favorites were the Ruth Bacon Ginsburg and Sausage Patti Smith because I love bacon and sausage. Sandwiches are served with one easy egg on a telera roll, but you can customize your egg prep at checkout and also add/remove any ingredients. I also ordered hash browns with harissa salt. The hash browns were a little greasy, which I would've liked them more crunchy, but the harissa salt was amazing! I would definitely consider purchasing a bottle of the harissa salt next time. Other than sandwiches, Sunny Up also has beverages, sides (donuts and greek yogurt) and merchandise for sale. I love how easy it is to order online for pick-up. Whoa! My new breakfast sammie go to place! Sort of reminds me of the now defunct "Big Egg" in Portland. Lovely sammies on a perfectly toasted ciabatta like roll!. Stuff tried: Frieda Avokahlo: garlic kale, smashed avocado,fontina cheese, fried egg on perfectly toasted ciabatta roll. Somehow so well constructed it all holds together really well! Delicious! Five stars for the sandwiches, five stars for the hashbrown patties, and I'd give more than five stars if I could for creative menu naming. We not only got a GREAT brunch with some friends, but a good chuckle about the names. I'd gladly support the business again. We had the Pastrami Cline and the Nina Smoked Salmone. The pastrami was a full sandwich, like super full, but managed to be hearty but not heavy. We also felt like we were being a little risky with the lox on the Nina Smoked Salmon, but it totally paid off. Would definitely recommend them both and a hashbrown patty if you hadn't been before. Only regrets were we didn't take pics, and felt a smidge overpriced. But hey, it's Seattle, everything does, and I can support a food truck with a mission like this. read more

Best. Breakfast. Ever. Sunny Up came every week to my work but sadly that was before the pandemic. A couple months ago it was brought to my attention that the truck was still operating during weekends so I dash on over to the truck almost every weekend to get breakfast! You seriously cannot go wrong with any of the sandwiches on the menu, but here are my husband and I's favorites: 1) Ruth Bacon Ginsburg - My husband LOVES bacon so this was a really choice for him to first try this sandwich, and this may be the only sandwich he will try. :P He says the bacon is cooked to PERFECTION which is just icing on the cake in an already perfectly tasting sandwich. 2) Nina Smoked Salmone - This is MY personal favorite. I love fish so when I first saw a salmon sandwich on the menu, I instantly ordered it. On top of that, the sandwich comes with a DILL cream cheese and I love everything and anything pickled so this made the sandwich perfect. 3) Hash Brown - Whatever sandwich(es) you end up ordering, you MUST order the hash browns, or two, or three. The salt that they use to top off the hash browns make them taste even better! Come to this food truck to pick up a very tasteful breakfast! I made some modifications to the sausage patty sando (sorry cooks I know it was annoying) but holy *bad word* it was amazing. I'd been reading about this food truck for a while now but assumed it would be a very long time until I was able to actually try it out because of its locations and schedule not matching up with my own. So when I saw they were actually going to be on the eastside within a convenient timeframe, I jumped at the opportunity immediately and raced down to the location about 30 minutes before they were going to wrap up.....and it was ABSOLUTELY worth the trip! It tastes either homemade or like its from a local artisan sausage maker?? My roommate had the Patstrami Cline and said it was "very good" and I'll take his word for it! Saw the truck setting up on my way in to work. After some meeting, I suggested we go check it out. I love trying new food blind. Knowing absolutely nothing about this truck, I ordered the Spamala and a few others for my team. It kind of smelled up our immediate work area but in a good way. I was really pleasantly surprised at how good the sandwich was. Admittedly since the pandemic times, I haven't had much gourmet food but this totally hit the spot. The egg could have been slightly more runny but then it would make an even bigger mess. But love the seasoning, love the sauces, love the bread. Yeah. Happy camper. Some of my issues here may just be growing pains. I visited on their second day, so take these complaints with a grain of salt. The good: The sandwich names. Too clever. The availability. I can stop by on my way to my 8am job? Way to make my day a lil better, Sunny Up. Thanks for being up and open when it's dark out. The service. Super sweet folks doling out sandwiches. The bread. This is arguably the biggest decision in a breakfast sandwich, and they knocked it out of the park. I'd eat this bread all the time. The flavors. In theory. I'll explain more... The bad: The packaging. I get that these are supposed to be cutesy, grab-n-go sandwiches that are easy to eat (as food truck food should be). But if I'd actually eaten this on the way to work, I would have been covered - COVERED - in egg yolk. They offer to cook your egg however you want, but I felt like I had to get the authentic Sunny Up experience and do whatever they did normally. The yolky egg sandwiches are in little paper bags. 1) The yolk ended up sliding all the way to the bottom of the bag thanks to gravity. 2) I couldn't even get the thing out of said tiny bag without puncturing the yolk. Mess everywhere. I'd suggest a small, compostable container. Sure it's not as cute, but it's way more practical. The flavors... so I had the Nina Smoked Salmone. I love the concept and all the flavors there work well together... But there was so much cream cheese I almost forgot there was egg on my sandwich. Could have used more salmon too, for the price. The after-effect. There's no way to know for sure what I ate was the culprit. And I know that. But the one day I had this for breakfast, my stomach was not happy. Fine since... so... yeah. Always look forward to this food truck on the weekends now. Currently it's stationed at Chuck's Hop Shop on 85th during Sunday mornings. I didn't have very high expectations the first time I tried it but man was I blown away. I got the Ruth Bacon Gainsburg. It comes with eggs any style, I got mine fried, bacon, tomato jam, in some sort of artisan bread with cheese on it. I also got a hash brown which has harissa salt on it. Man was that a delicious hearty breakfast. My boyfriend tried the Mia Ham and enjoyed that one as well. The second time we came to this food truck we waited probably 20-30 minutes for our order when it only took about 5 last time. When my boyfriend went to ask how much longer the guy said "a while" and so my boyfriend asked for a estimate in minutes and the guy just said "a while". That's not a very good answer. If you know you're behind you should definitely let the customers know in case they are not able to wait that long. This is why my review has 4 stars rather than 5. I'm awful at remembering to grab breakfast at some point in my morning, so I was definitely excited when I saw this truck parked outside work this morning! I got the Nina Smoked Salmone, which includes nova lox, dill cream cheese, pickled red onion, and an egg (typically comes sunny side up, but I asked for it over hard). Oh man was it good! The bun was fluffy yet sturdy, a perfect vessel for the sandwich. Maybe a little heavy on the cream cheese, but it was so flavorful that I didn't mind. I found that the contents slipped out towards the back a bit (I mean an egg, cream cheese and lox isn't going to stay in place easily), but I loved it. It meant I had a bunch of extra lox and cream cheese at the end that I topped the remaining bit of my sandwich with before polishing it off. I wish I'd tried their hash browns after reading some other reviews, but I'm sure I'll come back next time this truck is at work. Also the truck appears to be women owned and operated, and all the sandwiches' names are plays off of influential women (Ruth Bacon Ginsberg, Sausage Patti Smith), so a big plus in my book! We've ordered at the truck without messing with the online system a few times and each time the wait has been over 20 minutes for two egg sandwiches.
