This time I ordered a traditional version that comes with a crown and a small ceramic piece (known as a fève) hidden inside the pastry. I ordered this one from Le Pont Patisserie. This shop is known more for their eclairs but they carry a good number of other beautiful and tempting pastries. There was a choice of 5, 6, or 7 inches for the Galette des Rois at Le Pont Patisserie. I ordered the 6 inch for $35 and it was just right for us as we were a small group of people. Wow! Such flakiness! Super impressed with how flaky this Galette des Rois was, and the frangipane filling was heavenly. While it was an excellent Galette des Rois, I do have to admit that I think it is very much overpriced for the size that they offer. Grandma found the fève and was crowned Queen that night! Their pastries are freshly made on the day. They were very generous on the filling. I really liked the fluffiness and tastiness of the Zaku Zaku. Service was great as well. I was almost certain that it would be too late but figured it couldn't hurt to ask, so I sent a message through instagram to Liffey Foods asking whether it would be possible to have a Pavlova roulade ready for pickup later that day. Lo and behold, it was not too late! Sinead agreed to make us a Pavlova Roulade and have it ready for 5:30pm pickup. I was super duper impressed with how flexible and accommodating she was as I really didn't expect anyone would be willing to take such a last minute order. I ordered the small size of the roulade this time since we were a smaller group. It was just as delightful as the bigger one we had back in September; however, I think moving forward, I will just order the large one every single time so that even if we're a small group again, we can have leftovers because her Pavlova Roulade is just sooooooooo good!
